We are working with Conroe to have cement tee pads before the tournament. For anyone who has not been out to the course lately, Conroe has built some nice bridges going across the creeks on 3 to 4, 4 to 5 and 14 to 15. The course is really looking good. It helps that the parks guys are playing the course.

May 09 2005, 12:06 PM
AWESOME WYATT!!!!!!

Keep up the good work, and for any of you who have not played this course, it ROCKS!!!!

I would put this on your schedule!!!!

So, will this tournament replace the Northside Open? Either way would be cool, 3 sanctioned tournaments on this fun course would be awesome. Now if we could just make that happen at Lago Vista that would be awesome, as far as short courses go Lago is definitely my favorite in terms of elevation and scenery.Unfortunately it looks like I am going to miss the Tony Ware Memorial again this year because it falls on a 3 day weekend that my girlfriend and I both have off but I will probably make it to the Bang n Chains Open though.

May 13 2005, 06:07 PM
Yes, this is replacing the NorthSide Open. We plan on having the winter tournament and summer tournament each year. Conroe is really putting some work into the course. They have installed bridges over the creeks and are looking at putting in conrete pads.

May 17 2005, 04:30 PM
I CAN HARDLY WAIT!!!!!

Hopefully my Game shows up, unlike in Austin, Saturday and Sunday....

May 17 2005, 08:15 PM
Joe!, never fear keep your plans open for the weekend of June 17-19. I have rented two rooms for my birthday celebration. Everyone invited! no pimps! p m for information or whatnot

May 18 2005, 11:20 AM
The bridges are complete and we are working on the tee pads. Hoping to have them in by the tournament. They are big tee pads, 14' X 7'. The city would like some labor help from us, so we are looking for a work day in the near future. Hope we can get some help.

May 18 2005, 11:22 AM

May 28 2005, 03:54 PM
Well I wasn'nt able to make it sorry but I hope it went well.

Anyone up for spring valley tomorrow?

May 30 2005, 06:45 PM
Thanks to the few people who showed up on Saturday, Tim, Scott and Jeff. We thought more people would be interested in cement tee boxes. Do to the lack of interest we were only able to complete 9 tee boxes. If anyone is interested we would like to complete the remaining tee boxes on Sunday, June 12th at 8 am. Please let us know if you can help.

May 30 2005, 06:52 PM
Also, Thanks to Mike from Lousiana , as he was the only person to donate money ($50) towards putting in the tee boxes. Hard to believe one of our biggest supporters is not from Texas.

May 31 2005, 05:56 PM
Another work day scheduled for Sunday, June 12th. Hope we can get a few more people interested in cement tee boxes.
If you can't make it and would like to make a monetary donation please contact Wyatt at 866-223-4601.

May 31 2005, 10:18 PM
Yea, lets get these boxes in so we can have some badass teepads for the tournament.

Whatever.

Cement pads are the way to go. :D

Sorry I did not make it sat I went and played in a doubles tournament. :(

Jun 01 2005, 03:56 PM
At McDade the best thing is cement tee pads, they occasionally open the dam and can flood part of the course for a short time. During this flooding, cement will hold up the best. Plus they are grooving them for better footing.

Jun 01 2005, 04:15 PM
Not to mention "fly" or rubber pads, can be stolen, concrete would take MUCH more effort..... :D

Jun 03 2005, 12:38 PM
The last event we had 87 people, but had to put 5 players on some cards. We are limiting the field to 72 players to keep the cards at 4 players.
We have already received several sign ups. You can mail us your entries at the above address or use titledisc.
If we have any openings, we will be taking entries until 7:30 am the morning of the tournament.

Jun 04 2005, 09:13 PM
The pads that went in friday look badass. The teeboxes are going to be sweet and just in time for our tournament.

Jun 06 2005, 12:55 PM
Alright...I'm all signed up for this baby...'cause being capped at 72 players, this one's going to fill.

Are there only one set of tees that everybody (all divisions) will play? If I remember correctly, all advanced and open divisions played a longer tee box on #1 back in the Northside Freeze tournament earlier this year.

Is the cement tee box the shorter position on #1, or the longer alt position?

Same for the Bang'n Chains?

Jun 06 2005, 01:18 PM
Yes, it will fill probably before Saturday morning. We already have several people signed up.You can use title disc (http://www.titledisc.com) , mail in the entry or catch Wyatt or Shawn at the course. We will be taking sign ups during the minis on Saturdays.
Everyone will play from the new concrete tee pads. #1 will be the normal location.

Jun 08 2005, 05:12 PM
I am looking forward to play! and U Robbie.. play Adv or going back to Int? :D

scoop
Jun 08 2005, 05:57 PM
I'm playing Adv for this. No excuse for me on this course, since I can reach every hole (or am 'capable' of reaching every hole, anyways).

But if I DFL, I might consider moving back down... ;)

Jun 08 2005, 06:03 PM
Robbie is playing Advance now.

Jun 08 2005, 06:57 PM
We are going to put the rest of the tee boxes in this sunday. Come out and give us a hand, any help will be appreciated.

Jun 10 2005, 11:14 AM
OK, starting to look like I will get to play this one.....

And as a Bonus, after we finish up in Conroe, plan on a road trip to Shawshank in Huntsville, for a celebration of Jimbo's B-day Saturday Night, and Sunday. We will have some sort of semi-organized golf Sunday, and a throw down Saturday night.(BYOB)

For any of you who havent played Shawsahnk yet, I HIGHLY recommend it. For thise of you who have, I am sure I will see you there, as you already know not to miss a chance to play this course. Camping is available, for no charge and if that is too primitive, you can always get a hotel in Huntsville.

BE THERE!!!!!!!!

Jun 10 2005, 01:04 PM
Mini the next two Saturday's. We will be taking sign up for the tournament at the mini's.
Saturday mini ACE POT IS UP TO $125.

The concrete tee pads at McDade Park are SWEET! I was also super impressed with the new boardwalk bridges on holes 4 and 15. The craftmanship on these bridges is outstanding - can I get whoever built these to add a deck to my house? A couple of holes, such as 5 and 11, look they've been thinned out a bit, too.

The McDade Park course will never feature world class length or challenge, but with these new tee pads and bridges, it continues to be the nicest course in the entire Houston area.

This was one of the best ran tournaments that I have ever played. Players meeting and and tee times were within a couple of seconds of the scheduled time, and that is a lot faster than it happens in Ft Worth. We were leaving the course at 4:05 with cash in hand.
:D

This was definitely one smooth tournament. Can't reiterate enough how nice it was to be on the road by 4:00 after a tournament...

The course looked amazing...with the new concrete tees, the exceptional wooden bridges, and the stone tee-markers...this course is one of the nicest and best maintained courses in the state.

Congrats to Robbie B on his win...enjoyed playing with you on Friday and Sat....nice Ace on #3 during doubles, and glad you got to witness my ace on #5 on Friday, too.

Looks like Gary held his own in the Open division, cashing ahead of some pretty good Pros.

Scores?!??!

Great course, I;m looking forward to your next tourney. McDade is really nice for those that have not been out there. It's deceptive because it looks so short on paper but there is plenty of trouble to make it interesting.

I know you guys worked hard getting those tee pads in and they are great.

That was the best run, smoothest event that I have been to in a while. Started on time and finished by 3:15!!!! See you next time!! :D

And speaking of scores...I like the variance in the preliminary ratings:

1st round 48 = 965
2nd round 48 = 975

I think a couple melt downs helped him out.

I know that chris was -8 with hole one to play and took a 5 to finish 1 stroke out of cash had he taken a 2 which he did all weekend he would have been tied for second, and Bubba had 9 birdies that final round to shot a -3 to also finish one stroke out of cash.

Flesner!!!!! You've got those Houston boys by the balls, no? 2 trips down there, and you come back with your 1st, and 3nd pdga win! LMAO!

I still haven't forgot about you. We need to get you a quality disc to throw. Congrats!

Was the Monster Tree on Hole 11?

I managed to have really good drives both rounds on #11, getting past the first tunnel with no problems.

I think #4 and #9 are the only holes I birdied both rounds.

Monster tree is on hole 2. If you were behind it or in it, you would understand.

I was behind it in round 1 and had to stretch out and throw a 20' roller for a save of 3. Efrain, as he stated, was in it during round 2.

this thumber is strictly for placement!! put youself at the gap (maybe 250') and easy up shot for the 3!! :DI saw many people trying to throw through the gap and shank their drive!! course management!!! :D

Thanks for eveyone coming out to support the tournament. It appears everyone had a good time, despite the harsh sun. I brought a camera and forgot to take pics. Will try and get some pics of the course for anyone who did not make it. Look forward to seeing everyone in January.
