Hey all. Ive been playing atleast once a day for the past few weeks and it's apparent that my short game is lacking. I have about an acre over here and I wanna use it for short-midrange and putting. I am on a budget. Its not really set yet but I would like to spend as little as possible because Im living paycheck to paycheck.
Any cheap suggestions? Im looking at the Skill-Shot DGT, but Ive heard it's smaller than a real net. Ive also heard I shouldnt leave it outside alot.
Buy a Ching Skill-Shot now. It is very light-weight, so you can carry it in when you are done putting. It isn't real expensive and it being smaller will help you hit the bigger targets.
I really dont like how its small. I wanna be able to set up some small holes here and I want it to be pretty realistic.

The skill shot is great. It will tighten up your putting stroke. If you are looking for a full size, cheap, target then you should look into the M-14 baskets. However, i think the skill shot is better than the full size M14.

Innova Discatcher Sport. Easy to set up, and very close to a standard heavy basket in size and shape. I got mine for under $125 on ebay, new. I left it outside all winter here in Colorado ... not a problem. No rust, no damage ... still looks like it's brand new.
how could a smaller net be good? That sounds so lame. no offense to its supporters, but it seems like it would start to annoy me.
I got four different targets at home (and my game still sucks)
Anyway.
Got a Mach V (I guess out of your price range) - lives outside
Got a Ching Skillshot - lives outside for over 2 years now...still looks like new
Got a In-Step Basket (cheapes metal basket out there). Had to replace all chains after 1 year. So add another 20 or 30 bucks to the cost, 'cause those chains will rust in no time.
Got a traveller - great indoor practice target. Catches great, but wouldn't go @ it with a beat-up disc, since it might cut the mesh.
Hope that helps. Skillshot is really a good practice target.

It's not that much smaller. And if you practice on a smaller target it will make putting on standard baskets easier. I really don't notice that much of a size differance.

Let's think about this. If you can make 90%-100% of your 25' putts on a target that is SLIGHTLY smaller than a regulation target, would it be safe to say that a regulation target would *look* like the broad side of a barn?
BTW, the Skillshot's top of the pan is regulation height. It simply has a smaller verticle target (top of the pan to the top of chains), and a smaller horizontal target(width from outside chain to outside chain.) Believe us when we say it's a GREAT practice target.
If you are looking for a full size target, there are many options.

I have an In Step and pulled the Chains in about three inches and have noticed I'm making lots more putts on the course.

That sounds pretty good. What are they asking for the Skillshot?
Here is a link to an M-14. http://www.discshoppe.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Product_Code=TARGET-M-14&Screen=PROD
If you ask me, the skillshot is a better disc catching target.

how did you pull the chains in ? I'd like to have the Instep be closer to the size of the targets I throw at on course. if you have a picture please post it. Or will you tell me details how you moved the chains ?
Thanks

This is where I got mine.
By smaller we are talking inches not feet. It is not a mini basket. I got one for Christmas, it hasn't helped my game a whole lot yet, but I guess if i actually had time to practice it would.

I just used plastic zip ties. Zipped second or fourth link to the cross piece or next top ring. Every other chain it changes. Sorry I don't have a picture but the people who play with me don't like it it makes a pretty small target.
