Anyone throw these? How soft are they? I am thinking of picking one up, I need to something to improve my short game, I love discrafts drivers, but have never tried their putters.
They are pretty soft, about the sane as an Omega SS. The X plastic is nice and grippy. I used to putt with Challengers but I switched to the Bulldog. Yesterday I had 4 bounce outs with the Bulldog so I think I'm gonna try the soft X Challenger for shorter putts and courses with mach 2's.

I love this disc! This and the APX swirl are my main putters (they have a similar grippy feel). The only time I throw something else (Soft Wizard 175) is when it's pretty windy and I need a LOT of stability. I wish I could an SC 175-176! My longest/best putts are with the Soft Challenger. You can also throw this disc pretty far, so works really well for approaches.

The Soft Challengers (UV and regular) are my primary putters.
To me they are not as soft as the Omega SS. In Texas a SS becomes goo between May and September. The UV Soft Challengers don't (haven't had the regular ones through a summer season yet), although Discraft discontinued them and started making Glo's, which I haven't tried either.
These remind me of the 3x JK Aviar-x's, but with a little more sink/stability (like a Rhyno).
They, plus the CryZtal version for driving/hyzer upshots, are the only Discraft in my bag.
I recently purchased one and have been trying it out for a month or so. It is soft, but not as soft as the Soft Magnet or the Omega Super Soft. It feels a bit like rubber, very grippy.
As for the flight, it is a bit overstable so it isn't a straight putter out of the box. I personally like a straighter flight for putts, but the Soft Challenger is a very good disc if you like a bit of overstability.

The new soft challengers are not as overstable IMO at Pro D Challengers. They are very similar in stability to UV Soft Challengers.
i have one of the first UV soft challengers form the 03 am world and ive been putting with it ever since, this thing is just too sweet, i cant get rid of it, i highly recommend it. once it gets broken in youll be able to drive it pretty straight, ive made alot of long putts with it.
Sounds like I'll be picking one of these up, but how much does regular(elite X) differ from UV in regards to flight, durability, and softness?

X is softer. I have one of each in my bag. I use the UV for most putting situaion and a lighter X from last years worlds for jump putts. They both seem to break in at about the same rate. There flight characterisitics are comperable.
excellent, i love putters that are soft without being floppy. Thank you all for the excellent advice

Tony, just keep the ss next to the beer :)
