I have recently discovered that my favorite all around approach / utility disc has been discontinued and more over, i lost my last one just the other day. As i feel it would be ultimately counter-productive to focus on a disc that is no longer in production, can anyone give me some information or reccomendations on either a comparable current disc with similar flight path and workability. or a place that i could order some heavy stingers online.

For those of you who arent familiar with it, the disc is a cross between a Roc and a Putter, Flat on the surface like a rhyno and hard as a rock (especially for an understable disc) please either post threads or email me at [email protected]

Couldn't you take a 150 Stingray and rub it on concrete and take about a quarter-inch of plastic off the rim, and have a disc that flies like a Stinger? :)

It was designed to be a trick-disc flippy roller right off the shelf. It has a thumb-trac, right? I believe it is like a really shallow-rimmed Puma, but I can't think of anything that flies like it.

I would recommend trying a Panther, lighter than the Stinger weight you like. They do still make Panthers, don't they? It's a suprisingly fast disc for as blunt as trhe nose is. Same nose on Panther/Puma/Sniper/Gremlin/Stinger, I believe.

Have not thrown a Stinger since 99 :o, but it looks like something between a flat top blunt Roc and Hammer with thumtrac.
If you like the Thumtrac try the Rhyno, it is not so fast, but I think it has more stability.
But try ebay, there are Stingers popping up ... .

yeah, i'd say get some dx gremlins and beat em up, but that puts you right back in the same boat, using a discontinued disc that will also be hard to replace in the future. sorry i'm not more help, but i really like gremlins (pro) so i know what it'd be like if i ever had to replace them. :(

I was on Marshall Streets website this morning and happened to notice they have the Stinger listed. Not sure of their stock levels. Check out http://www.marshallstreetdiscgolf.com/products.asp?id=72

I would say a Wolf is a bigger diameter stinger with more distance. Another option is to get an XD and beat the snot out of it and it will exhibit similiar flight characteristics as a stinger.

Wow, the one person in the world who liked the Ching Stinger just exhausted his stock.

In the same manner, somewhere, somehow, there is probably someone out there who is down to their last Piranha. :D

Which model: narrow tall Thumbtrac, narrow short Thumbtrac, wide Thumbtrac, or no Thumbtrac?

I've got Pirahnas left, how many you need?

I may also have a Stinger or 2 laying around at a good price. Have to dig it out though.

Anyone else looking for the following, Barracuda, Marauder, Eclipse, Moray, Python, Scorpion, Coupe, Tracer, Lynx, Phoenix and so on let me know. :D

Sometimes it's nice to hold onto old plastic.

Sounds like you might have the complete "big [*****] disc set". :)

A coupe huh? I haven't seen any of them in about 16 years. I actually liked them as a short driver/approach disc.

Rhett if you only knew. Somewhere in the range of 3000+ golf discs, frisbees and minis in the personal collection and another 1000 in the store collectibles. And this does not include the stores normal inventory.

Real soon I'm going to put up for sale the tournament and club stamped discs of which there are a 1000 or so. Most came from the old stamp of the month club that Innova used to do. I've got tournament stamps from as far back as 84 from most states. I need to make room. It's getting a bit out of control.

Rick,
I'd be interested in the Coupe and the Lynx. No tournament stamps, only standard issue stamp. I'm pushing about 2000 discs now, need another kid to move out so I can make room.
Thx

I know people who still to this day throw the Eclipse, Scorpion and Tracer. I've never met anybody, now or back when it first came out, who threw those other discs.

I wouldn't mind getting a hold of a Python. It was the first disc I bought, I believe it was the upper 160's, Blaze Orange. I would also like to find some Snipers and Stingers.

I used the Phenix, got a tournament skip ace with one. Sam Ferrans had the distance record with the Phenix as well. I also used the Coupe and Scorpion for a while.

Helix Master:

Are any of those Traces light weight? mid 160s would be great. Even up to 171g might work.

I remember throwing Barracudas, but boy was that a long time ago. :o
