No running water on those hills but natural ponds at Highbridge and dry creeks being flooded in the future. All have great views from the courses from the highest points in the area. Any 'mountain' course in Colorado. Aspen has the best views, you start by taking the gondola to the top of the mountain. Not far from there is Spring Valley Disc Golf Course outside of Glenwood Springs. Easter Seals Camp course in Empire. Eagle, Frisco, Copper Mountain. You could spend 2 weeks traveling CO, camping and playing disc golf. Although I haven't been there yet, I've heard the courses in SW CO are great too.
good luck and have fun,

Lowe,

Are these courses especially scenic or just "good?"

Because I think that was the focus of the original poster; he's looking to "play some courses that have some natural streams, or scenic mountains in the background."

I disagree with the assessment of a few of these courses as scenic. There's not a drop of water or mountains to view at the Landis Park course in Vineland, NJ or the two Delaware courses mentioned. The Rutgers course has a stream but most people don't go near it; it's also a very poor shot if you do. The temporary tournament layout has a pretty pond that you throw over, but most of the "scenery" there is confined to female co-eds walking around this college campus course. :D

On the East side I can think of no prettier a place than Cedarrock park in Burlington. The most beautiful park I have ever been to. 38 holes, 18 wooded with elevation and a nice stream, 20 holes over rolling grass hills. The park has a waterfall in back, free camping, and did I mention 38 holes. You also might like Richmond Hills in Asheville, definitly mountainme, and Glenburnie park off of Highway 17 in New Bern plays next to the enormous Nuese River, beautiful and fun. Whoever said go to Kentwood has never been to cedarrock.

That's some wishful thinking there, a-phish-ionado, but it's Burlington, NC, which is between Greensboro and Durham. You could make for a very scenic road trip by combining the Burlington courses with the many picturesque ones in the Raleigh area. (Buckhorn, Cedar Hills, Zebulon, etc.)

This Burlington is in NC. Which I have been to, and it is very nice. I have been to many that were mentioned on the East Coast. If you are looking for Heaven... If you want to be in the middle of the mountains...If you only want to hear trains in the distance, instead of traffic.... if you are looking for awesome sunsets...If you want a challenge...36 holes through the rolling hills...PAW PAW WV... it is privately owned by Spencer & Gabby Thurman, who are always happy to see new players...you can camp on sight...it is a must play

For scenic beauty these come to mind:
-Brandywine in DE. Great hills and beatiful vistas.
-Lake Russell in Elberton GA. A peaceful state park out in the country with manicured fairways and cedar trees.
-Mars Hill College in Mars Hill NC. The best hills and elevation changes in NC
-Tar River hole 18 in Louisburg NC is one of the prettiest holes in the whols state. With the Tar river all down the left side its really nice. But the rest of the course is not up to the standards of the others mentioned.
-Walnut Creek in Charlottesville VA is the pretttiest I've played in VA. A challenging course with 2 sets of tees and great elevation changes.

Narrowing your choices to the continental United States? I envy your travel budget! Here are a few suggestions for a disc golf wanderer:

Arizona---Fountain Hills---high up in the mountains, a beautiful manicured course on a lake. The park is surrounded by fairly ritzy housing, scenic in its own way.

Utah---Creekside Park in Salt Lake City. A lush city park. From a couple of hilltop tees and greens, the background is towering mountains, snowcapped for much of the year. A fast, clear, wide creek runs through the park and plays on several holes.

Montana---Bohart Ranch in Bozeman. Built on a ski slope way back in the mountains, among towering evergreens. I recall very steep slopes and views to the facing mountains; I'm not sure about creeks.

Georgia---Richard Russell State Park in Elberton. No mountains, but beautiful rolling hills in reclaimed pastures. From the hilltop you can gaze across many miles of countryside on clear days. Being a state park, it's peaceful and uncrowded (and there's camping nearby).

Florida---Gran Canyon on Brooksville, if you haven't been there, is unique, with it's high cliffs.

South Carolina---the most scenic in my state may be Timmons Park in Greenville, a very fun short course. Located in a deep valley, with a clear mountain creek that comes into play on at least a half-dozen holes.

I've played some 65 courses in 15 or so states. Most are scenic to some degree. Some are more challenging and intriguing than these, but all of these are fine courses to play as well as scenic.

Good luck!

I haven't played as many courses as many of you that posted.

However, I cannot imagine that there is a more scenic course IN THE WORLD than the course at The Camelot Lodge in Moab, Utah.

The view from the ranch has got to be one of the most amazing views you could ever experience. I know it's the most spectacular place I've ever been. Having the Colorado River "in the backyard" (300 feet?? away) and soaring red rocks surrounding you for almost 360 degrees, it feels like you're in the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

I got married at The Camelot Lodge in September 2000 on a sand bar in the Colorado River. I remarked to the owners that this location would make for the most amazing Disc Golf course on the planet. God Bless Jon Lyksett for hooking up with them and building this course.

I strongly suggest that everyone go and visit this place. Bring your non-disc-playing family members as well because it is so spectacular.

I have to agree with the Creekside Park nod given earlier. After living in Salt Lake for four years ( for the snow only) I fell in love with that course. Holes 2 and 15 come to mind as my favorites, but the Wasatch provide the best backdrop ever to remind you of why you play Disc Golf....I'm going back to Salty in July and I can't wait to rehash old memories and make new ones down at Camelot. That place looks sick!!!!!!!!!!!!

Team Utah now holds a few tournaments a year at Camelot (next one is Sat. Oct 15th). Some of these pictures are from the Camelot course and some are from a temp course set up outside Moab. The owners of the lodge can pick you up by boat in Moab if you don't have four wheel drive. You have to make arrangements with them and it costs a fee but well worth it.

Solitude Ski Resort is another very scenic course in Utah. An A-tier event will be held there in September. This is right when the leaves start to change colors! The 18th hole is probably one of scenic holes I have ever seen. It is also 1200 feet to the basket!

Most schenic course I've ever played, out of about 40, is Paw Paw in West Virginia. The drive on the way up is like being in the Alps. The course is a monster.

My only question. Does that bald eagle live there of was she just flying around that day? He or she was hovering overhead the whole round, maybe the disc golfers up there feed it. If I had a ground hog I would have let it loose. I even threw a disc in it's direction to blow it's mind. An Eagle maybe?? But it was not impressed.

Eagles are huge, about 10 times bigger than a buzzard or red-tail hawk. And they fly sooooo slow.

I would have to put my vote in for Larry's yard course next to Token Creek in Wisconsin. He has homemade Redwood baskets he hand-crafted himself. With multiple ponds, well manicured flower gardens and lawn, as well as the coolest elevated green and treehouse-teepad you will ever see! I am very lucky to get to play this on a regular basis. Since it is by invitation only.

I'm not exactly well-traveled...only played in NC, SC, GA, and FL. But Tradewinds Park in Ft. Lauderdale was fun...a canal, some interesting vegetation, and lush grass, and of course that inimitable FL sun...also, there's just something about the farmland and layout of Cedarock that I just can't get enough of. And finally, Horizons Park in Winston Salem...one of the few disc golf courses that would be a cool place to visit even without the threat of ching.

Tree-house tee-pad? I suppose you do not want to have a foot fault up there. :DSounds like a very cool course.

The most scenic course I've ever played is the temporary course in Hampton Park in Charleston, SC. This is a spectacular park. The Centuries-old Live Oaks and Magnolias, the pond, the fountain, etc...

Others on my list are
The Woodshed/Whipping Post, Paw Paw, WV
Walnut Creek Park, Charlottesville, VA
Hawk Hollow, Biscoe's, VA
The Grange Sunny Side, Spotsy, VA
Bobcat Hills (Wilhelm's temp course), Bent Mountain, VA

I live in Peoria, IL and have about 20 courses within a short drive, so I have a lot to choose from, but I say the best and most scenic, and yet the hardest course I've played was definately Fountain Hills, AZ. It has 300ft holes over nothing but water, and surrounds a man-made lake with the world's tallest water fountain in the middle, shooting water 680ft up every hour. It's pretty cool, and the scenery with the mountains and all is nothing short of spectacular. I almost want to buy a plane ticket just to play it again!

Ca has some very scenic courses. Novato, Kirkwood, Shasta, Delaveaga, Grass Valley. I posted some pics of Kirkwood from my last time there. You'll have to use the search to find them.

Camelot in Moab, Utah is definitely great. Nothing quite like throwing a hole under 200' with a steep dropoff on the right & the slick rock.(read kills discs quickly). But I would lean towards Solitude in Utah myself. Feldberg and Jenkins came and played the A tier and shot 50, 51, 51, 52 on 18 holes, not necessarily a big arm course, but definitely challenging. You can throw a round at Solitude, and see moose, eagles, and other wildlife on any given day.http://www.teamutahdiscgolf.com/photos/Utah_challenge_04/images/image011.jpg
