Out of these which is your favorite and why?

Tee Bird
Eagle
Valkyrie
Beast
Orc
Monster

Eagle, because it is the most all around useful driver I have ever had. I have a 171 Champion Eagle, and although I have many discs that travel much farther than it, It's the only disc I use every round. It gets used for slight hyzers and straight shots that I want to finish left, headwind drives, sidearm drives and approaches. Short drives where wind makes it impossible to throw putters. Tommy's and thumbers, and sometimes controlled overhand rollers. It's a great disc.

Out of the ones you listed, I would say TeeBirds and Eagles are far more useful and reliable than the rest. Orcs and Valks are squirly with wind, and the Monster is a niche disc. On the other hand, I know many people who use Eagles and TeeBirds for tons of things.

By flight ratings alone i would say that the Eagle would be the best all around because it actually has a high speed turn whereas the teebird wants to just go straight and fade left at the end(based on 2005 innova catalog), thus in theory giving it extra distance over the teebird.

I've never thrown an eagle before(weird enough) so i can't say from experience, but i absolutely love the Teebirds.. Especially the 11x KC Teebirds with the old Proline stamp(candy).
They go where you want them to.. end of story.

P.s. The valkyrie can be almost too flippy and not as useful for tightershots because of it's high speed turn.
The Beast would fall under the same theory.
I havne't give the Orc much of a try(threw it twice i think), but they seem to be between the highspeed turn of a eagle and teebird, but with the beast family Speed and rim.

And the Monster shouldn't even be on that list becuase it doesn't compare to any of the above.. The monster is a Firebird that has a beast family lip giving it more speed and sometimes more fade too. when beat it can make awesome late flips and I even like using them for rollers that you want on the ground almost immediately.

P.P.S. That was a long P.S.

The chart is a good basis for comparison between discs , but to learn what a disc will actually do for you, you need to get out there and test fly it!

For me the three most useful and necessary discs are Beast, teebird and eagle.
For distance you can't beat the flight and glide of a dx beast. for great control a dx teebird will fly deadstraight with lots of glide. I really only use a CE eagle for eagles but i think it's great for longer straight shots that you need to hyzer hard at the end, but is very versatile.

Valks are just plain flippy, orcs were good for a bit but can't match the glide of a dx beast, monsters work well for sidearms but that's about it. imo

Teebirds. I have 3 10x KC Teebirds, and can do everything with those discs. While I don't have a backhand big enough to throw over 350 (I sidearm for that), I find Teebirds the most versitile driver in my bag.

Mar 23 2005, 09:24 AM
To pick one from that list I would have to say TeeBird.

It is extremely versitile. New it has a good amount of fade, beat up it is a nice turning disc and will eventually end up as a roller. It has plenty of speed to be thrown over 450ft (I have only gotten mine 380ft).

However I will not live without my Orc and Valkrie. The Orc is great when you just need pure D, and the Valk is awsome for insanely huge turnover shots.

the orc!!! very versatile!!!! great flight!!!

I go for the TeeBird, though I,ve never tossed the Eagle. The TeeBird was one of the first discs that I bought, it is a comfort thing. I know about where it will be afer every release, I also like its thumber capabilities.

TeeBird, all day, simply the most dependable driver out.

The DX Eagle is probably the most underrated driver in the world. Great out of the box. Makes a great roller when beat up. And is cheap so you don't have to worry when throwing it over a lake. :)

Orc is best for distance. Feels good in my hand.

I do like a beat up dx teebird for controllable finesse drives.

he is on to something here....dx eagles make great thumbers and forehand rollers as well

If this would have been asked 2 months ago...I would have said the monster no doubt. Because I drove mostly sidearm. Now I am throwing a lot of backhand drives with the beast, and pro orc. But the question was what's your favorite, so I will have to stick with the monster as my favorite for now. At least unitl I get my backhand drive down a little better. Then it will probably go pro orc.

don't have much experience with the Teebird, Eagle, or Valk.

Mar 23 2005, 01:35 PM
I'd say Valk. This disc taught me to throw a hyzer flip, and greatly improved my technique while doing so.

with the exception of the monster I cant live without any of them, they are all useful for certain shots

I have a few Teebirds of the 11x mold with the new champion stamp on them. same disc, different stamp. just look for the rancho cucamonga CA. as opposed to the rancho cucamonga CAL.

You know, that "L" taken off of the back of the disc makes the disc completely different and the stability and fade are changed. Now the "CAL" KC Teebirds are REALLY RARE! $100 on EBAY! ;)

Can anyone sense the sarcasm?

Tough choice, but I'd have to say, if I was forced to pick from this list, the Predator.

definitely a good old 11x teebird for most drives

I don't want to go off on a rant here, but many of the newest drivers should only be used by seasoned players.
I started playing at the end of april 2003. I saw Steve Brinster play at my local course(which is his too) and I instantly wanted to play discgolf.
Taking lessons from people where i could i increased my distance, after learning an x-step, in about 2months time i was throwing over 400.
Then i started using different discs like the MOnster, Beast, Firebird, ETC.. that really messed up my game....
These discs really aren't beginner friendly and trying to learn while using these discs did horrible things to my game.
I should have started with stingrays, teebirds, and less stable stuff..

NOw after almost 2 years i have completely changed my outlook on my game since i have plateued since the 2months after i started.
I changed my throw to be more relaxed and am throwing things that are less stable now.
My main driver is my teebird becuase it's stable for me.. not understable.. Newer ones are overstable.. I can throw almost 400 with no effort and these discs go dead straight.

I"m just saying that The older discs are the much better discs becuase they teach a much more proper technique and trying to learn how to throw while throwing a monster/beast/orc/starfire/etc Might be a bad idea..

Just a rant.. not really having anything to do with the topic..

good point. i gave up on my teebirds last year when all the new stuff started coming out, but have recently put 4 back into the bag and have noticed greatly improved accuracy off the tee. the orc is long, but finnicky for me. i've never thrown a monster because my ce firebirds are too consistent to give up on. the best advice i could give to any beginner today is to stock your bag like climo would: 3-4 teebirds, 2-3 rocs and 2 aviars (all discs same weight). as they start to beat in (hopefully at different stages), you will have several of the same disc that fly differently with the same release and will be great in any situation on the course. and practice putting.

Mar 23 2005, 07:14 PM
orc and beast tie.

Mar 23 2005, 07:19 PM
Second that! Orcs and Beasts rule.

I have a Teebird Champion Edition - really hard one...it's translucent red (I guess there are not too many out there) that I haven't figured out yet, but I like to believe I can fit that one into my bag as well - somehow.

Lately I have come to appreciate the Sidewinder quite a bit. Great disc.

In order of favorite
1.Orc
2.Eagle
3.T-Bird
4.Valky
5.Monster
6.Beast

Favorite disc not on this list:
THE SIDEWINDER (Now any shmuck can a have decent long roller.)

I love the Orc for most RHBH long drives. I no use for the Beast now that the DX Orc is out. The Eagle has to be the most reliable disc in my bag. When I am playing inconsistant from the Teepad I will drop the Orc for an Eagle.

Most fave to least:

Tee Bird - best all around driver ever
Beast - great D but finnicky...very worthy disc
Orc - greater D but finnickier
Valk - old news and finnicky
Eagle - shorter/older cousin to a T'Bird and slightly more overstable
Monster - mutant disc

A major modifier to this question would be 'which disc' in 'what plastic' is your favorite???
