Ney say all you want...Throw a fit if you will...Bottom line...ITS COMING VERY SOON AND YOU WILL LOVE IT. You can watch me throw it in the Golf VS Disc Golf Challenge in Austin, Texas on April 16th. I will have a few to raffle and 1 for you to "Test Drive".
If starting a Disc Company was simple everyone would have one and most would be stank! Kinda like Bungholes! As for Duke he developed a few habits and was cut from production...But is living the life with QBert and The helicopter pilot from MegaMan somewhere in Berlin. :D

Well Said Twisted :D
Like a lot of people have said, if or when this disc comes out we will see how much of a technological breakthrough it is compared to other discs. Some miracles happen, but most progress is slow variations over time emphasizing the positive.

Funny how people were saying the same thing last year...
When it comes out, I'll try it but I'm not going to wait for it.

Waiting is exactly what everyone is doing. Whether people still care by the time its actually produced is another question.

Funny cause Disc Wing never claimed to have started a production run as of last year...
Maybe you're thinking about the ads you saw or what you heard, but if you would have gone to there site or e-mailed Jonny, you would have seen that they stated that they were holding back producing the disc until later, they said they still had lots of testing and approval was still needed...

You have have a full report shortly thereafter. Once again...You can come check one out in Austin, TX. on the 16th of April! :D

OK guys,
The Quarter K is being produced this week, the first run is going to be 2000 discs, i am fortunate enough to have 200 of those discs custom stamped as fundraiser discs for the British Open this year, these fundraiser discs will hit your shores in about 2 weeks (give or take a day or 2).
For all you that think the disc is a myth, it's not, i am at the moment sitting on some of the samples for the disc that's being produced right NOW and they fly and fly, same mould, slightly different plastic, but this disc feels good, and flys long time.
Don't worry, you all will get to to play very, very soon.

And you will be able to get them from me.... :D
how much and when can we get them? :D:D:D;)
I threw about 12 shots with the QK's that Reese had at the Memorial. It goes a long way. I thought it was going to be flippy, but it was stable to the point of being overstable. Comparable to a champ eagle in similar weights, I'd say. The plastic had a great feel. We were throwing it in the drizzling rain, and you could use the palm of your hand to wipe the water off and still get great grip. I think people will enjoy this disc when it becomes widely available. It seems like a great first offering from a new company.

Were those newer discs that Reese had? He had some at either US Masters or SoCal Champs last year that were not production plastic. And we all know that the plastic affects the flight in a hige way.

He said they were newer. I was expecting them to be flippy, and he said that they'd been re-tooled to be more overstable. The plastic was most similar to gateway's S plastic or D-craft's new D plastic.

Come on now, Erik. Give me something I can work with here. :D
The one I saw last fall was a really stiff plastic. Reese said it was a prototyping plastic, and that seemed right. I didn't see much value in demo-ing it and showing it off in a plastic that would never go into production, though.

Hopefully they are the point where they are using the actual production plastic.

Come on now, Erik. Give me something I can work with here. :D
I think it was in the regular production plastic.
I was trying to think of something Innova-ish to compare it to, but it seemed more sturdy than current DX plastic but grippier than the circa 1996 Ontario Roc plastic. There. Are you happy now? :D
I think I said elsewhere that the stability is comparable to a CE or Champion Eagle, but after some thought, I think I'd have to say that it is a hair or two more overstable than that. I remembered that I was getting the best throws and distance out of a 164g QK. I'm a guy who throws max weight overstable plastic as a rule, so I was surprised when I couldn't get the QK to flip out of the hand. I actually had to throw it with anhyzer to get big D out of it....
....but when you really "connect" with a throw on the QK, it goes surprisingly far. It'll be interesting to gauge the reaction from average players, pros and newbies alike when the QK is widely available.

I threw some of the samples the other day, and they are indeed quite a bit more overstable that the ones from Iowa, and the really flippy ones from a month or two ago. They are pretty long, I didn't notice them going any farther than my Orcs though. A bit longer than TeeBirds and Talons.
The new plastic feels great in the hand, not very durable, but it feels grippy. It felt much more secure in the hand than the older plastic.
From what I understand, if you are expecting them out in the general public real soon, you might want to grab a Snickers bar.

Ok, Just finished my Snickers (No pun intended) I have just got a shipping confirmation from Jonny for the QUARTER K'S that will be available in Austin Texas April 16th at Circle C Golf Club. Come out and throw one at the 20,000.00 Hole in one!!!
He also stated the line IS RUNNING FINE AS OF THIS MORNING. It looks like 2.5 weeks until the British Open FundRaiser Quarter K will be here and then the "First Runs" will be 3 weeks behind that... :D...
so how much are they, and when can I get them?

Apr 05 2005, 12:16 PM
There will be a few at the event in Austin, Not sure how much. The British Open Fund Raisers will be 25.00 and from what I have heard so far from across the pond they will be here May 1st.
So the retailers won't have them for quite a while, or what?

I just got a Quarter K at the 21st Chandler Tornado a.k.a. CHANDLERSTOCK... I got one of the WHITE fundraiser discs for the Brithis Open. I have thrown it a couple of times now, and I am not noticing anything different about my throws. No extra distance or straightness, any tips on throwing it?

Saw and felt a Quarter K last night. didn't get a chance to throw it. Didn't like the feel of it. The plastic didn't look super-durable either.

They can take the beating. Trust!!! I let everyone throw mine at Chandlerstock...They beat it pretty good. Still flys nice. The plastic IS WAY MORE DURABLE THAN IT LOOKS OR FEELS.It will "break in" nicely for you down the road. :D
Well, I finally got some free time when it wasn't raining, so I took my brand new Quarter K, D Venom, H Illusion, and Pro Starfire to Purdue's football practice field for some distance throwing. I also brought along my current distance combo: Champ Orc and 4x JK Pro Valk. I went back and forth 3 times across the field, for a total of six throws with each disc.
Longest disc each time:
First throw - Starfire
Second throw - Valkyrie
Third throw - Orc
Fourth throw - Quarter K
Fifth throw - Starfire/Quarter K (tie)
Sixth throw - Starfire
Overall, I was very impressed with both the Starfire and the Quarter K. It took me a few tries to get used to the QK. I expected it to be rather flippy, so at first I was throwing it with some hyzer and a little on the high side. Bad idea. It definitely has the stability to be thrown hard and flat, and I found about 25 ft. to be a good height to get a very, very subtle S-curve. The Starfire seemed to fly best with a similar throw, which would give it a slightly bigger S.
I liked the Illusion pretty well. It doesn't have the glide of the Starfire, QK, or Valkyrie, but it flies very straight with a very nice medium fade if thrown hard about 12-15 feet high. The H plastic is a little slick. I'll have to try an S or E sometime.
I was disappointed in the Venom. It flew pretty similar to the Illusion, with even less glide and more low speed fade. I also had a hard time with the shallow rim, even more so than with my Z-Flick. I'll give it some more practice, but the first impression is not so great.
As far as distance, I was pacing my farthest throws (with a slight wind at my back) at 120-125 long paces. I did some rough measuring of my stride back at my apartment (~42 inches), so I'd say my best throws were between 400-450. Those were with the QK and the Starfire, and one huge S-curve with the Orc.
I would say that the QK definitely is an excellent distance disc. My hands are a little on the small side, so I had to focus on gettting my fingers all the way in the rim for good snap, but when thrown right, this thing goes.
You mean it doesn't go a quarter kilometer? Get your money back

Got a chance to throw the QK along with another new purchase, pro starfire. Just from reading some other threads about the QK I thought it might be less overstabe than the Orc. I was wrong. Thrown lower than the orc it can handle just as much snap and of course it has less of an s curve. The pro Starfire put on the same line as the QK has almost the same flight but tended to S a little bit more. I will have to see how much I like the QK after a few more rounds. Just touching the QK the plastic is more similar to the new D Plastic of Disc Craft. Then again time will tell if it will act like it. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
