Check out the Let's talk shoes thread (http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=269466&page=5&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1)

that thread is about stormfront XCR's, and the pair I have is four and a half months old. The tread is still great, considering I wear them every day; but the 'water proof' action is starting to get a bit dicey. On the whole, tho, I farking love them. Never have a traction problem (besides mud), and they are quite light and comfortable.

I don't know exactly what model of shoes I have but they are Merrill slip-ons and they are fantastic! They really hold my foot in place and never lose grip. I love them. If your course had grass tees, you may want to go with something that has less grip so you don't strain your knees.

I wear FootJoy soft spike slip ons for courses with grass tees and lots of grass fairways. I have Columbia hiking shoes for normal courses, they're super comfortable and grippy.
For rain and general crappy weather, I break out the Rockport boots with Gore-Tex , and wear Gore-Tex socks with them. Super Dry!
I have heard that those Merrill shoes are real sweet and am thinking of trying a pair as soon as my Columbias wear out.

I used to use a pair of Nike Turf cleats, but they have sadly broke down after being abused over several wet days. I know play in a pair of Nike Gortex cross trainers.

Columbia's all the way. I'm on my 3rd pair. They're the lightest and most breathable that I've found. They also fit my abnormally wide feet like no other...

I too wear Columbia hiking shoes, and have NO complaints. They grip really well on fairways and are extremely comfortable. Maybe they should start a line of shoes for Disc Golf. Hmmmm....

I agree with Matchu about Solomon shoes. (I get mine at REI).

The quick lace system is amazing. I doubt I'll buy another traditional lacing system shoe again.

Added bonus is that Solomon supports disc golf events (Pacific Northwest area).

Anything GoreTex is a must have. I have primarily used the Nike ACG stuff, which has been great, but recently got a pair of North Face "Fury" which have also turned out to be pretty nice too.

Salomon ***** (light trail shoe)
$******

I bought two pairs and love them. They are like tennis shoes, but hardcore.

Sorry, I deleted the price and style of shoe, I did not want to be warned about advertising.

Buying two is a good idea, who wants to hobble around with only one shoe?

I highly suggest Salomon also, not only do they sponsor tournaments, but they are also just the best shoes I have ever worn for disc golf. Everyone that I have ever talked to who has owned a pair will tell u the same thing. Here is a great place to buy their waterproof shoes for under $60.

Those are the shoes I own, great shoes, great fit, waterproof, comfy on 12 hour days, PERFECT!

how much do they weigh???

I wear the Columbia hikers, too. They give good traction and are reasonably water-resistant, but aren't too heavy.

I just put it on an electronic scale, at size 11.5 one shoe weighs 575 grams.

The North Face ones I picked up were from backcountry.com. They were cheaper on that model, but on the Salamon's, shown above, they are waaaaay more expensive.

My buddy works for Columbia and he would trade shoes for plastic. Let me know.
