Interested in getting one of these "night shift" orcs. Same additive to the plastic as the special blend roc, right? Heard alot about them, just wondering where they can be found, and how people like them?
Yes, they are the same as a Champion Orc with a colorant agent added that somehow synergistically works with the plastic to add a little more girp... they also seem to fly slightly more overstable as well... They are very very hard to find, but everyone seems to like them a lot...
What do you have to trade for one? :D
Sorry Toekneej5 I'm looking for these too...
Crdiscgolrer: i have these to trade:
New:
1x Champion SPider(ICE 175)

2x QMS (Bright yellow 178)
2x DX Aviar(1 monkeypawclassic 174, 1 orange 175)

They really are hard to find.I find my max weight nightshift to be slightly more flexible than the SBs (stress slightly, probley due to the different design) and a little more grip. Its got so much grip it would take a pretty sweet piece of plastic to get it off my hands!

This was probably brought up before but were the night shifts only made in blue? I've got 2 opague Orc's (one yellow and one green/blue) that are very different from the normal champion plastic. Night Shift's or just a freak run?? They feel and fly a lot different than the champion plastic.
they made about 600 altogether...
they did come in yellow and a tealish color as well as the blue color the majority were
so you probably have a couple of the rarer colored ones :)
as far as feeling and flight, the night shifts are just champion plastic thats slightly grippier... they fly slightly more overstable as well, if yours fly way different and feel way different, maybe they're some new kind of champion orc
maybe they're some new kind of champion orc
Would that be a huge shock if there was a new kind?
lol, not really, innova has soo many diffrent variations on all of their products!
...I guess thats why I like them so much though! :D
I know of 3 kinds of Champion Orcs: nightshift, pearly, and clear. The last shipment of Orcs I got had one clear one in it and the rest were pearl. A friend of mine picked up the clear one and claims it is special.
Prolly a first run

It is special...in the same way that each worker ant is special :D Just not unique.
I find the pearl's to be every so slightly more overstable than the clears. Though you can probably chalk that up to statistical variation and sample size :)

LMAO
I heard that clear ones (colored clear too) that are one color, not the swirly pearl mixed color ones that you buy now, are first-runs, and a lot of them were white too, this is just what I heard though, but it seems to make sense as all the ones I got right when they came out were clear (as in see through plastic, not pearl swirled plastic)...
I looked in the ask Dave thread and he says he's not really sure how to distinguish 1st runs from other runs...
Chase seems to know a lot about 1st Run Orcs, he traded me a couple, you could ask him

There are also Red Night Shifts.
I have a VERY SWEET Opaque dark blue Night Shift. The plastic is basically CE. Extremely grippy and way nicer than normal Champion. It makes me wonder why all Champion plastic isn't like this. Night shift plastic is the nicest plastic I have ever seen. I had to pay 22 dollars for it though. You only see them on eBay every couple months if you are lucky! I'm glad I got mine! :)
Here is a picture of mine...

22 dollars was a very good deal, I have never seen one on E-Bay, I wish I would have seen the auction you got yours from! :D

I think all this plastic fetish stuff is silly. Just grab a frisbee and throw it.... (I say that but I have 20+ discs on my home office wall and 3 more at work :P)

This might be a dumb question, or maybe the answer is on another thread. Why are they called "Night Shift" Orcs. I saw on here that there were only 600 made. Who got them? Who were they distributed to?
They are call night shift Orcs because the guys working the night shift at Innova did some "experimenting" and that's what they got. Whoever got them were lucky because I ordered a whole box of Orcs when they first came out and didn't get any night shifts. I order from Innova East so that is prolly why I didn't get any.

I had 20 of them in my shipment right before Memorial last year :DI still have a "few" :D
Mine a Custom Stamped with the Stafford Lake Mini Stamp....
Schweby got one on a visit to Stafford...... ;)
Are some less/more opaque than others? All of the ones i have had were very very opaque, I saw one today that was opaque, but about half as opaque as the ones I've had...

I believe it's because the night shift guys at Innova were responsible for their creation ...

I've seen these in 3 colors. A royal blue (not as dark as the one pictured above), a teal color and a yellowish color.
I've seen alot of people trying to pass off normal opaque Champion Orcs as Night Shifts. You'll know when you throw one. Kinda remind you of the 2nd run CE Valks. Meat hooks.
And if anyone is looking for some I know where a stash is. Current prices are $25 for unthrowns.

There are also Pro Line Orc mistamps that are being passed off as Night Shifts as well.Expect to see these pop up on Ebay soon as Night Shifts. To the best of my knowledge from what Ive seen on posts here and from what others have told me , most of these are yellow.
Also I would expect more people to advertise 1st run Orcs online as the recent shipments are in clear-candy plastic, and a large misconnception is that clear orcs are 1st runs. That is true, except the fact that they are more cloudy than clear. The newest Orcs are clear like sidewinder plastic.I have already seen them go for quite a bit on Ebay.
I have seen Night Shifts in these colors: Blue, Dark Blue, Teal, Yellow, and Red. The red { in my opinion} is probably the rarest. Most I seen came from a shipment to Iowa City and were in a regulaur Champion Orc shipment.
Hope this helps.
are they all max weight, or the same weight..or are the variances?

According to RickB he has a source for 25$ apiece.I inquired and he hasnt responded.I would make sure if I was spending more than 25$ on one, I wasnt getting a misstamped Pro Orc.Unless you have one of both, its difficult to tell the difference.I think they are in the 1st run Pro plastic, which is less waxy in feel then the second run Pro.
do they all weigh the same?
All of mine have been 172 on up...
Wish I could get a lighter one (168-170), if anyone has one of these, let me know...

That person is pricing it that way more for the stamp then the disc itself. I personally have never seen the USDGC- version of the NS Orc. Yellow ones are or were available, but I also heard the Yellow were actually misstamped Pro Orcs. At discgolfvalues.com they had some available for 20$.
