Just seeing if anyone has advice on going pro. If so, where's a good place to live, thats easy travel distance to major tourneys, and what kind of jobs do the pros hold, if other then being a professional touring disc golfer? Any advice will do, thanks for your help in advance.

To make dough, you take one part Flour, add some Salt, sugar, whey, oil, Yeast and water. Mix with a mixer for 15 minuets and let rize. :D

This may help. Here's the 2004 top 50 money leaders. I would have to have a 2nd job even if i *earned* as much as Barry did at sanctioned events. 1260 pro players out of 26586 isnt very impressive either.

Holy cow Schwebby, 41 events! You rule. Is that a record? A personal one at least. I'm sure the Winnie Crew had a few seasons with 40+ events.

"Lucky" Todd B.?

Anyone know?....

Wait 10 or 20 years and there is a slim chance disc golf might get a sponser or 2. Thats my advice. Then you won't have to be a world class player and can still make a living. :D

47 and 48. A very high mark indeed.

I think the most impressive line is

Ken Climo 4297 17 FL 6712 $ 27120

He got second place in money and played in less than half of the number of events that some of the other guys placed. Barry Schultz may have beaten him in money, but it took him more than twice the number of events. To me being able to play that little of a schedule and still make over 27g is pretty impressive.

That's why everyone calls him the 'champ'!

He also stuck mostly to big tournaments.

Guys that tour full time or close to it also play smaller tournaments. Remember- USDGC was 10k of that, worlds another few thousand.

Yeah but how many guys can work only 17 weekENDS a year and make over 27 thousand bucks????

Mar 11 2005, 02:58 PM
A lot. To throw out a couple: any professional baseball, football, and basketball player.

Yea, Ken doesn't play anything lower than a Supertour. He might play a B tier once or twice a year and that's it. Barry will play B tiers and C teirs, when he wins though he only makes like $200-$300.

Barry even played an unsanctioned doubles event this past fall, and all he won was a paid entry for The Big Chill. But when the name of the tournament is "The Random Beaver Round-up"... Well, like my pal Terry says, "Sometimes it's hard to pass up a little random beaver!"

I guarantee those guys don't play just weekends and are don't get to pick and choose their own schedule like Ken though. Climo could play just a few tourneys a year and make more than some minor league ball players.

Mar 11 2005, 05:19 PM
[drift on] I bet Ken doesn't just play/practice on the weekends also. I also forgot to add professional boxers. One or two fights a year (picking their schedule) and they bring in millions. [drift off]

Mar 11 2005, 05:22 PM
Yeah, I am sure Ken could make millions too if he was stupid enough to stand on a big platform and get punched in the face.

Mar 11 2005, 05:38 PM
Just because he is the best disc golfer of all time doesn't mean that he would amount to squat when it comes to boxing. It is obvious what Ken has done financially in disc golf is an amazing feat. It's just not as amazing when compared (of course its apples to oranges) to what other people can make monitarily in the same amount of time.

Mar 11 2005, 05:43 PM
I never claimed he was a rich man. I am just saying he is making decent money playing a game a lot of us have to pay to play through either discs or bag purchaces or tourney/league/club fees. Ken gets paid to toss round plastic things into a metal basket. We all do that to get away from our jobs.

I didn't say you said anything. You were the one that asked this question. I wasn't trying to be a smart arse. I was just answering it.

Mar 11 2005, 05:52 PM
I will give you that, but it is fun to argue back and forth every once in a while. :D

Mar 15 2005, 12:14 AM
I agree with both of you all !!! I mean $27,000 for 17 weekends is accomplished by many professionals in different walks of Life.

I personally know investement Bankers and Swing Traders on Wall Street who make that in a day !!

Also Real Estate Agents like my Cousin make that easily in one sale. With an avg. of 3 one million dollar houses sold in a month, he gets 4% commission of the gross amount for each of those houses.
You do the math

But I do agree with Treelunker also!! What a way to make a
Living ;)
Flingin plastic in metal chains outside on a beautiful day. Thats a pretty sweet Life :D
