I noticed Ken Jarvis was not listed as an Innova team member anymore. Anybody know what's up ?
FWIW he's not listed as a current PDGA member either.
Maybe his level of play plateaued and he doesn't think he can cash anymore, but since his rating is too high to play Advanced he's taking some time off. :D

Seems to me someone said he's over in New Zealand or perhaps somewhere else in the western Pacific area.

Kenny got serious about a nice girl and moved to New Zealand. Last I spoke to him (several months now) he wasn't playing much at all. The bungee and parasailing stories were good, though. I do recall somebody (Donny maybe) that Kenny was considering moving from NZ to another shore.
Heads up to AZ players, Marc is living in Phoenix attending a trade school. As good as Kenny became, Marc was the better player before a girl got the better of his interests.

He dropped the Innova sponsorship to break the Distance World Record with the DISC WING disc.

I figured he was MIA because he had thrown a disc so far that he was still enroute to retrieving it. :D

All right after Innova made HIS Champion Gator, man dont you think it would be more benificial and better $$$ wise for Innova to just buy the Disc Wing disc mold so that they can have one of thier team members break the record again? Sales would sky rocket for a Signature Ken Jarvis Innova Quarter K.

Why buy it if they could copy it for a fraction of the price? My prediction is that a Discraft version of the QK will hit the market before the QK actually does... and I'll buy and throw them.

Not if it's patented, they won't ... at least if they want to stay in business.
Aren't all golf discs under the same patent? All discs, no matter what company, have the same pat. # on the bottom. I don't think you can just patent a certain style of disc.

Innova's main patent (wedge disc) has expired. Currently, anybody can manufacture and market a wedge shaped disc. There are other Innova design patents which have not expired.
That's my rudementary understanding of patent law and the current state of patents in the disc golf arena. Interested parties are advised to contact a patent attorney to reserach the relevant patents and give real legal advice. One could always post a question on the "ask Dave" thread, but if I were Dave I would not divulge this information on a public board.

I think DiscWing is trying to patent the non-90 interior angle, aren't they?
That should be hard to do since the BlowFly has the same kind of thing going.

A utility patent may be granted for a manufactured article or an improvement to a manufactured article. If Discwing is indeed pursuing a patent, it is likely to be based, in large part, on a claim of improvement.
A utility patent may also be granted for a process for making or doing something, so it is conceivable that Discwing could also pursue a patent for the process they use to produce the shape of the inner rim wall, though doing so would likely be a waste of time and money since such a patent would not prohibit anyone from employing a different process to produce a similar rim.

Or improving upon the improvement! /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Any updates? Is he still MIA because he threw it so far, and got lost on his way back to the tee?
