Was curious as to what the prevailing opinions were. I myself like the Champion, i.e. Candy, plastics. Seem more durable than the others, only downfall is when they get wet.

I prefer DX putters and approach discs. I use both DX and Champion drivers. There's not a lot of tree's here in Vegas to worry about, so DX holds up well here.

original CE. After that the newer champion/ candy. I think this is alot more durable then the original CE. I have plenty of both, but like the way the old school stuff breaks in.

The old school CE and opaque Z plastic are great, especially for drivers. I would not want that plastic for all my mid-range and putters but for drivers I think it is the best.

Feb 28 2005, 12:11 PM
I loved the "feel" of the SE plastic, however its durability is questionable at best. I agree with Chase, CE is the way to go. CE has the perfect combination of feel, durability and consistent flights.

As for Putters, it has to be a SB DX Aviar (nothing like it)

But for everything else (drivers, mid's, approach) it is candy. But I prefer Discrafts harder Z plastic to Innovas relatively softer Champion. I have an old CE Leopard that is nice and sturdy, but that is a back up for a back up of a reserve disc.

Two discs in my bag that defy my mentioned preferences; Super Puppy, CT Challenger.

I'm feeling old when you guys think CE is old school. Aero, XD, and P38's are old school to me.

Love DX and S plastics, the opaque CFR plastics, and CE.

Old School is all relative. My first rounds were tossing 165, 141 and 110 Whamo Discs. That's really old school.

I have trouble picking an all around favorite plastic. It really depends on the disc and how I want it to fly.

If I had to choose, I think I'd go with the Elite-X plastic Discraft uses for the X Putt'r. Perhaps it's because I only use it for putts, but it seems to be very resilliant to dings and scuffs and it wears very evenly and doesn't lose it's smoothness. I know it's going to feel the same every time I pick it up. I also happen to think that it's flexability is perfect. It holds is shape but is flexable enough to make it stick in the chains better than some other plastics.

DGA x/z plastic is the shizzle (especially the blue tsunamis, even though they were all z). It is grippy, durable, and I can beat it in if need be. All around best plastic out right now.

CE for drivers

DX for rocs and putters

Feb 28 2005, 01:45 PM
I like the plastic in the new special blend Rocs. I also like some of the newer pro-line plastic, it's got good grip and durability.

original early run CE, champion edition for everything but my putter... :D

My favorite plastic of all time is the Nike plastic from the "E" Spirits. Hands down the grippiest candy plastic, and durable as hell.

CE or Champion for drivers, DX and KC for everything else. Althouth the Special Blend/ Night Shift blend feels great, too.

The plastic used for 1st Run MRVs (the old, chalky Elite plastic). Nothing has a better grip. Wear in really nice too.

Feb 28 2005, 02:33 PM
For drivers - the opaque CE. For putters - Gateways S plastic.

Feb 28 2005, 03:19 PM
My best/favorite plastic would have to be the 1st and 2nd runs of CE plastic the 1st Z was nice as well.
for drives i throw either the pro/champion" plastic (firebirds, beasts, valks), i've also been trying the new pro orc. also throwing dx glo rocs and leopards,a dx triple ring SM shark, q-sentinel,kc aviars (Putter), dx P&A aviar, and the dx bulldog.

Feb 28 2005, 06:04 PM
For putters I really like the "creamy" 9 x Aviar plastic, the 11 x plastic is sweet too.
For drivers: I love the 10 KC hyrid mix plastic

Feb 28 2005, 06:48 PM
My favorite plastic is Gateway S plastic. For a "low end" plastic it has amazing durability. I recently smacked the side of a sidewalk with my S Illusion at full speed and it just barely sraped the wing. I like the feel of it and love the way that after it takes a little abuse and breaks in, the flight never changes until the disc gets so used it is only barely resembling a golf disc. I prefer dirty broken in discs other than the pretty ones everyone seems to love. I just like the feel of it in my hand and think its ratio of durabilily and feel is second to none.

Gotta be Gateway's S for me. Super grippy and holds its wear for awhile.
KC 11X is second, I love those TB's

For drivers: the Discraft X/Z blend used in the DGA Riptide and Tsunami, old Innova CE, and opaque Innova Champion, in that order.

For midranges: Gateway Clear Evolution, Gateway Evolution, and Millenium Quantum, in that order.

For putters: Lightning Prostyle, Aerobie Arrow plastic, and old Gateway H plastic, in that order.

Bob...the chief that I gave you is a blend of S and H plastic. The S plastic gives you the grippiness. The H gives it the "sproingyness."

I got a new chief on its way to me. This might become my putter that I use as a driver.

For drivers-DGA x/z plastic like the blue tsunamis, old ce, kc/ce blend like the 10x KC tee-birds.

Mid-range-old Super Roc plastic, Quantum,10x Roc

Putter-Early Proto JK aviar plastic with the bar stamp only

I really like the opaque QJLS plastic! Very durable, yet breaks in over time. I also dig the dx Glo Rocs. Overall ... I'm going more and more back to dx Innova plastic. I like the grip in bad weather and I like being able to break it in to fly just the way I like it. I'm not fond of the new candy plastic as I don't care for the slow speed overstability that seems to be present in every mold. Oh yeah, I putt with Lightning Rubber Putters ... love the feel and the confidence of putting near water

i agree about dga fusion plastic---it is alot like the special blend roc plastic

Mar 01 2005, 11:22 AM
No doubt, the Gateway S plastic is all around the best for grippyness, durability, and memory of flight. However I like the H and E plastics for my high speed drivers(i.e. Spirit and Illusion) for they are a little less stable. The new E Blazes are my new go-to drivers!!!:D

The old Discraft Elite Pro plastic was awesome! Super grippy and very durable. I like it much better than X.

I had an Elite XTRA, and it is still the best overstable driver I have thrown. It was also my 1st ace disc.

Mar 02 2005, 03:27 AM
I agree. I like the old, greenish XL's. They're like throwing a big stick of butter (in a good way.) :D
