Austin TX: Where is Dan McGarrigle? I haven't seen him on a DG course in years!!!

Considering watching him play golf and walk around the course, my guess is that his knees finally broke off. I have came accross many Masters age players that uses aches and pains as an excuse to their golf game, That dude always looked like he was in some serious pain and going through hell with every step. I NEVER ONCE heard hime say that his knees were hurting tho.

While we are in Tejas, What happened to Scott McMichael?

Mike Young is still sponsered by Innova and playing. I saw him @ Worlds last year. Living in a van with 2 other people for a coulpe of years would make most people want to cut back there touring schedule.

McGarrigle rarely plays disc golf, but in our last conversation, he said he plays lots of ball golf. He does have really bad knees.

Scott Michaelsen. He only wishes he was a McMichaelsen. :D No disc golfing for him anymore. He's moved on to other things, but you never know, sometimes people return.

I've never seen someone that drunk play disc golf......and i've been to 5+ OctoberFriz's. Towards the end, he actually crawled down the fairway to get to his disc.

Dallas has golfers? All of the good courses were in Tarrant county until Cedar Hill came about.

Sheriff is a name I have not heard for a while either... What happened to him he had game???

Scott Cook is still one of the driving forces of DDG, he never really has been much of a touring Pro.

Travis Powel has been going to school at Texas Tech, he ususally tries to play the Carrollton Open, but that is just it.

Rob Knight is married and still lives in the Carrollton Area, he still plays around but not much.

Doug Brashear - Married with his little spanish wife who I believe has him wipped :D Last I heard he still worked at Jus Made

Sam G(don't want to even try to spell it) is messed up. Not with drugs this time though. He was working for Scott Cook and fell off a ladder busting up his ankles. I heard around Christmas that he still was unable to walk. He may never be able to play to his natural ability again.

Gene "Biff" Barfield - Owner of Jus Made, Family and community things have kept Biff busy. He even took some time away from work. He is now working again and still plays some of the local tournament (at least one of the days).

On that note, I have not heard anything lately about Mike "Cookie Man" Rhoda. (spel?) He was given a year to live about 3 years ago and was still kicking. I don't have the heart to call and ask how he is doing. I did ask both is exwife and current wife to keep me informed, but have not seen either in a long time.

Man that s*cks about Sammy Jo... I always love the way he could snap the **** out of a disc. If anyone sees or hears form him tell him I said to get well soon...

There's certainly nothing wrong with taking some time and stepping away from the game for a while. I've done it and really played better and was more enthusiastic when I returned. Of course, I missed out on all that sweet original CE plastic! :( Ron's a great player and taking a year off wouldn't hurt him. rWc3523 :cool:

I used to play with Mark V. when he was a punk kid. I also went MIA for 18 years before making a return. I just had to use that time to get my head on straight, get my business going and get all my my kids almost raised.
Now that I have gotten all of that done, I've been back playing for almost three years and loving every minute of it and now I don't have to scrape pennies or sell any pop bottles to travel to tournaments.

Yes, we used to be able to sell pop bottles for money way back then. :o.

Mark use to live in Norman, I believe he has a brother Terry who lives there in Tulsa....or he did a few years ago...

Bob fell off a ladder 3-4 years ago and was seriousely injured. He was in the hospital a long time. There was thought he could never play again. I am not sure where he is know.

I think I am going to stay off ladders from now on.

Saw Seaboldt yesterday at Z-Boaz. I told him 'hi' for you. He's still around. Mostly plays Crowley and Z-Boaz.

I am disgusted by this and didnt find out about this until after the weekend where I did talk to him a bit... Now too young of an age is relative to each situation. I personaly had sex when I was 12 with a 13 year old... now I regret it because I was way too young but anyhow...

Now really the pdga cannot do anything about this right now. I could see them being able to do something though if said person were sent to trial and found guilty of a crime. Then after that they would be able to take action against him due to the bad name he is giving the pdga.

Now I know he is currently on probation still which is why he doesnt travel out of state at all because he needs permission. I have heard of things he has done when he was younger and this honestly doesnt suprise me based on that.

He shows up at events everyonce in a while, but does not play them.

Having a special needs child takes a lot of time away from Disc Golf.

What ever happened to Sam Grizzafi. He was a pretty **** good player.

Sam came out and played doubles at the Texas 10 in Carrollton. He had a work related accident this last winter and screwed up both of his ankles. He still has a small limp, but can still throw the the heck out of a disc.

He is currently buying up all the big bead hard Aviars he can find.

Thanks dave. I want to play some majors the beggining of next season, but with my first son due in september, and my job thats requires me to work most weekends, it's going to be hard to say the least. I am hoping to at least play the Memorial, Golden State Classic, and the Masters Cup, thats if everything goes well and I can get my game back to where it was 8-10 years ago. Right now trying to find a grip to work with my thumb which doesn't bend is hard (a plate and four screws in my thumb of my throwing hand) and frustrating. Even if I never played like I used to, I will keep playing non competitively just for the sake of playing.
