I've noticed that the Gateway drivers have quite a bit more lift in flight than some other drivers. That is to say, a good nose-down drive will rise moreso with a Gateway driver than with a Valk, for example (at least it does for me).

For me, this poses a problem for those low ceiling shots where too much lift is very bad.

I am trying to tweak my grip and throw to compensate for and learn to use this extra lift, but right now my best throws still end up air bouncing, but with decent D. It is important to note that this is only happening with the Gateway drivers. My other "go-to" drivers do not have the same effect.

Any suggestions on how to replicate that super low, flat non-rising, straight flight of the Valk with a Gateway driver?

Any constructive comments are welcome. Thank you.

I use the Illusion for my low ceiling shots. I can put it out about 300 and never have it get above my head. Its not crazy D, but I like to think its respectable for not being able to get it up (yeah take the joke and run with it fellas). If I release it flat it will fly almost dead flat especially if there is a little wind. otherwise just a nice slow left fade at the end.

I think Gateways high speed drivers are the best low ceiling distance disc on the market! They fly really far really low off the ground!!

Even though there is one disc(sabre or blaze) that you need to throw high to get some distance?

Like he said, Gateway's HIGH SPEED drivers. The Sabre was never considered to be in that category. The high speed Gateway drivers are the Speed Demon, Spirit and Illusion. The sabre is a straight disc but in a different category.

True. I was just talking about drivers in general. I wasn't specifially talking about high speed drivers.

I have an S Saber that flies really well low of the ground for shots 300 to 325.

My guess is you dont have a spirit broken in yet.
If your refering to the orange puffy illusions they wrok better for guys with less armspeed.
A broken in regular H or E is a better illusion for players with more power.
I really like to release hyzer a little nose up and know exactky what you mean.
Not to overexagerrate but it took me almost 50 practice drives in a wide open field with the speed demon before i figured it out.

My suggestion would be to get out in a field and really see how low you can throw the high speed discs like the speed demon, spirit and Illusion. try turned over nose down and lower than you ever thought possible.
As Ive said many time before the high speed drivers work much better once they are broken in some and the lift will be more effective than as well.

You are correct about the lack of broken-in drivers. I'm working on it! So you think the Spirit might be better for this shot than the Illusion, Dave? Just curious as to why.

I would love to be able to throw the Illusion 300', while never getting it above about 8' high. It's good to know that such a shot is even possible. I've got some work to do...

I have not seen these orange "puffy" illusions; although I do agree that the H plastic illusions (i have a yellow one) are less overstable than the S. The H illusions have impressed everyone who's thrown them here, BTW.

I am getting out to the practice field with the drivers, but it was only on the course that I could really notice the difference in the relative lift of the Gateway drivers.

Also, it is possible to use the Sabre for low shots under 300', but for the Sabre's max D, it definitely likes to be thrown high.

Thanks y'all.

Peace

I don't throw Sabres too much (may start to again after I check out the newest "CE" Sabres) but one thing I've noticed is that when you back off of it a little, and throw it more like a midrange, you can throw lower controled shots up to the 300' range...but its a really touchy shot that the Blaze is likely to be better at anyways.

After taking this advice into consideration, and with a few minor modifications to my grip I was able to pull this shot off with an H Illusion. In fact, this shot was sufficient to park the drive more than once. I love parkage.

I can definitely see how the broken in Spirit could do the same thing, too.

MMMmmm...H-Illusions

On a different note, I have an S-Blaze that is basically new, but flippy right outta da box. Very strange, as most Blazes I read about are pretty beefy. I'm hoping to get more stability from the E Blaze.
Anyone else seen or thrown a new but flippy Blaze?! Once I get it tuned, I think it'll make a nice hyzer-flip disc. First few throws I was like, "what the flock", but its gotta just be the disc.

My sabres fly a lot better when thrown about 30-40 feet off of the ground.
