Will be traveling from Austin to Fort Dodge, Iowa in mid April. Looking for some good courses to play along the way, hopefully not too far from I-35. Any recommondations would be appreciated. Thanx in advance.

You're doing that backwards I think.

But, I gotcha covered from KC to Ames:

KC: Rosedale is right off I-35 but Water Works is a better course a couple miles off I-35 in North KC.

Lamoni, IA: Graceland University and J&B Rolling Hills. J&B is private and right next to the Interstate.

Des Moines: take I-235 through town and you've got Grandview 0.5 miles east of I-235. Or else there is Ewing a bit farther at 4 miles south of I-235. Or stay on I-35/80 round the north and hit Walnut Ridge about 5 miles north of 35/80.

Ames: Either Carroll Marty or ISU are roughly the same dist. off I-35, about 3 miles west. Carroll Marty is the US 30 exit. ISU is the 13th St. exit.

Webster City is on the way but not worth the stop.
