Thanks :D

Finally Orc has the DX version, but awful artwork!!!! He surely look like a friendly ones. It has massive teeth, that wouldn't be able to have a large chucks of biting. I was hoping it ll be look like Uruk-Hai or Orcs from Lord of the Rings. Orc supposed to be the meanest and ugly creatures. Crappy artwork but I surely will buy few for my practice bag

Domey? Whats that clear?

Feb 17 2005, 03:17 PM
I thought the Domey ones were the blend of SE and Champion. Anyway I just put in my order through Sunkingdiscs, $5.99 each as long as I wait untill monday when they are shipped. I cannot wait to see if it will go farther then my DX Beast.

The first few Champ Orcs I got (day-glo yellow, 175g) were really domey, like a whippet or something, Then I got some more and they were flat, then I got some more, and they were in the middle (dominess) so the really domey first runs were sick (for me) they glide a bit more than the second batch (flat ones) and are pretty fast too.

IMHO :D

Feb 17 2005, 04:30 PM
First run domeys are the shiz. Mine is max weight and seems more overstable than my lighter weight flat ones but it flies farther even when I don't get an S flight out of it.

Picked up two new DX Orcs on Saturday, and then played about 45 holes on Sunday.

I used the DX Orc for about 75% of my drives on Sunday, not just to 'give it a try' or to figure it out...but becuase after just a couple of drives, I was hooked.

The plastic has all the grippiness and glide of the new Pro Orcs, but the stability of the Champion Orcs. The disc just felt great in my hand...although, it feels like the rim might be slightly wider than the Pro or Champion molds...

It held a low, fast line really well, but did have some monster skips at the end of its flight.

I was throwing a 172g disc all day, on a wet, drizzling day.

Great disc, and for now it has just become my primary driver.

Feb 21 2005, 11:20 PM
Actually, I think my DX Orc is comparable in stability to my Champion Orc ...or just a bit less stable at most (my Pro Orcs seems a little less stable...more like a Champion Beast).

I didn't hit any trees with the DX during my 45 hole trial yesterday, nor any today in the open soccer fields I was practicing on.

The disc is fast and long, and the gripiness makes it more accurate for me. I was consistently throwing the DX as far as my Pro...both of which were longer than anything else in my bag (Champ Orc, Champ and Pro Beast, CE Leopard, CE Firebird, Discraft Flash and Crush, and a Sidewinder). To get the max D with my Pro Orc I had to get some decent height under it to get it to flex out. With the DX Orc, I got the same distance throwing it on a hard, low, straight line.

I instantly like this disc better than any thing I've thrown in the last year.

I just got mine in the mail. All orange, 172,172 and 174. I haven't thrown them yet because of snow cover.

But they feel AMAZING. This is some of the best plastic I've ever felt and certainly the best feeling Innova has ever made. I just hope it's durable, cause this is some grrrrrrrrrippy plastic

xterramatt
Feb 22 2005, 08:48 PM
They are quite gRIPpy.

I think I like it. Just 4ed the quarter mile hole with it. Dorc Dorc Dorc Putt. Beautiful. Then I had the CRAZIEST 888 hole experience. I threw a Sidewinder roller out over the road, that just nicked the second island tree (tree on island in middle of the lot) landed on the pavement at a good 55 degree angle, bounced, landed on the grass and proceeded to roll on the edge of the fairway not more than 3 feet from the curb for 150 feet (at this point it's gone agout 400 feet. It then rolled over the curb and continued to roll on the pavement. another 100 feet. It finally flipped over, and just as it was flipping over, it hit the curb and skipped up and in bounds! It landed 5 feet in front of the last fairway tree before the large gap (the little cherry looking tree). I then took my Dorc and OVERTHREW THE GREEN! It flipped over a little and ended up about 2 feet ob about 40 past the basket. I took a circle 5. coulda been a 3! Loving this disc though!

Feb 25 2005, 02:19 AM
Mailman handed me two yellow dx Orcs today (172). Just couldn't resist and risked 2 throws during the snow storm in a field near my house. I have to agree on the grippiness and feel of this disc. I'm pretty sure this is going to become my #1 long range driver.

My bag is now more than 50% dx plastic. I guess everything goes full circle.

Feb 25 2005, 09:44 AM
Anyone elses DX Orcs flexible? I got three at Max weight, and Fed Ex lost my shipment of the other two including a CT Challenger and a Champ Gator. But these three I have are really grippy, and flexible. It really feels like this pro line shark I cannot get rid of. I posted on the Ask Dave thread and he said I could have recieved misstamps, but I am wondering if anyone elses is as grippy and soft. (I prefer the harder original DX, that feels like theres a powder on it).

paul
Feb 25 2005, 09:55 AM
I wouldn't get too comfy with that version of the Orc -- Dave's response to parkntwoput:

parkntwoput, the DX formula was different with the DX Orcs, but we were having such a hard time running it, we went back to the regular formula. It wasn't anything like the Pro plastic, but you might have gotten a misstamp. We went to that new DX formula to try to add durability to the long range drivers in DX.

--It looks like you'll be throwing a very rare disc in the near future. I've got two I'll sell you for a mere $50 each -- tee hee.

For some reason I was thinking there was a little Pro Plastic when I picked one up yesterday.

It seemed liked the rim was stiff like dx plastic but the middle was a little "poppy" and slick.

I bought one but only had it for 10 minutes as I traded it for an evolution Speed Demon(switching over to gateway).

I borrowed and threw one yesterday. I was very impressed with it. Arrow strait. Not much for durabiltiy though.

(switching over to gateway).

Why is it that everybody here who throws Gateway, has to drop it in every thread and constantly make it known to everyone reading? You know you guys are the only ones that do this on a very regular basis? Underdogitis or something?

Also, why do you guys who "only throw Gateway" have to switch completely over to Gateway. Have the people at Innova, or Discraft harmed you guys in a way that you can no longer support them at all?

I just can't understand the desire to go ALL ONE COMPANY, when each company does so many great things for this sport and has so many unique discs that make them different from each other.

I throw all three, and I'm proud to say that not one company in the Big 3 could suit all my needs.

Feb 28 2005, 03:40 PM
Is the durability any worse than the normal Dx plastic?

Feb 28 2005, 03:58 PM
Krevo, I'm sorry but you confuse me. I have no idea how you could be bothered by what tru live krew said. He said he was only throwing gateway...is that offensive some how? Do you take pride in throwing all three and feel attacked? I don't see how it hurts anything to like to throw only one maufacturer, and to include it in a post. Seems like people say they're throwing just innova or discraft just as often. People throw what works for them...and posting what is working for them doesn't hurt anyone...

The reason why I even mentioned I was switching to Gateway was because I wanted to explain why I traded a dx Orc for a E-Speed Demon.

Because there is no way that a Speed Demon and an Orc can be confused if someone threw them.

Got a chance to really test the dx Orcs this past weekend during a round at Rockburn (BTW - underrated course). I really like them! I was getting great distance even though my mechanics are rusty right now. I ordered two more today. I'm not worried about durability as I only throw 'long range driver' molds on open holes anyway. Any hole that requires accuracy over distance (most holes in Mid-Atlantic region) and I pull out my 3 Wood, err, QJLS.

Used my DX Orcs almost exclusively for drives during the very wet and cold TX 10 in Waco last weekend. Even with the continual rain, the grippy plastic felt great...never any doubt about a good grip. And when they do get wet...they dry off with a towel very easily...the Champion plastic takes longer and more effort to completely dry.

The plastic does beat up easily...just as any other DX plastic seems to...I whacked a few trees and skipped off a few rocks this weekend, and the discs showed some wear, but still flew true all weekend.

On the ~821' #18 on the Beast, my tee shot was a worm burner (nothing wrong with the disc...it was just a bad throw) that landed no more than 110 ft. from the tee box. I don't have a 'big arm' by any means...my typical long throws are usually around 300-325'. With over 700' to the pin, I threw 2 DX Orcs out in the rain, and was left with a 35' putt for my 4...which I drained.

For part of my payout, I picked up 3 more DX Orcs...I'll be using these a lot more now....

I loved the feel of these when throwing them, and got some excellent distance, especially downwind. I was a little annoyed however when my 170g DX Orc turned into a cut roller when thrown into a mild headwind - I thought these discs were more wind-resistant than that. Anybody else experience the same?

yeah I've definitely found them to be more understable than the champion equivalents.

Mar 14 2005, 09:31 AM
I actually found them to be slightly more stable then the Champion. Just like the DX Beast is more stable then the Champion. I still don't throw an Orc into a head wind, too flippy. I use either a Starfire or a Firebird.
