Jason Thomas, one of the original Athens, TX disc golf crew, had a nasty accident last month. Things were apparently pretty touch-and-go there for a while, but his wife Kerri is reporting good news. Last Saturday she wrote:

"Jason is actually doing very well considering the accident. He has started eating through the mouth. He has a trauc in at the moment, but we hope to get it out soon. He has been able to talk the last few days for the first time since 1-5-05 with help. Hopefully he will be transferred to ETMC in Tyler soon. Maybe as soon as Tuesday of next week. He will go into the hospital for accute long term care for now until the trauc comes out. Then he will be transferred to Health South in Tyler. Everything is going great and with God's guideance we will make it through with flying colors.

You can let everyone know about the transfer so they can come visit if they want. He loves the company, it keeps his spirits high !!!!!!!!!"

I'm sure he would love to hear from his friends and well-wishers. Hang in there, Jason.

Here's the latest:

"Jason went to Rehab today, Monday, March 7, 2005. He is at ETMC, Olympic Plaza, Room #305. The visiting hours are 4-8pm Mon thru Saturday and afternoon on Sunday. The address is ETMC, 701 S. Olympic Plaza Circle, Tyler, Tx. 75701. Be sure to put room #305. He is doing great and is excited to be one step closer to going home. Jason is completely off the breathing machines and can talk where you can hear him."

Keep it up, Jason.

Here's the lastest from jason's wife:

"Jason Thomas is moving to Craig Hospital in Englewood, Co. on April 19th. He will be there for at least 60 days and maybe longer. He only wants to be there for 30 days but that is not happening. Keep him in your prayers because he will be there alot at first by himself. I will go on April 19th and stay for several days but then I have to come home... The kids will go back with me for Mother's Day Weekend. That will be the only time they get to see their daddy until school is out. "

Great to hear that he's still improving and that he's getting the care he needs. It's seven months until Texas Teams -- we'll expect to see you there, J.

You are a great man John for helping those kids see their daddy.

Tell Jason the guys from Galveston are thinking about him, to continue getting stronger and to get home soon.
