Is there much diffference in the flight characteristics of these?
I know all about DX vs Champ and the Z is more overstable for Discraft, but haven't thrown enough EliteX or Pro-D to know.
The reason is that my girlfriend is learning to play and seems to throw my EliteX Stratus best but the problem is that my supplier only has Pro-D in stock.
I don't throw the Stratus mold a lot, but might start using it for a roller. I know the Pro-D plastic will beat up a lot faster than the Elite X. Pro-D plastic might be a little flippier out of the box, I know it is in other molds. Might turn into a roller disc sooner than she thinks!

Cheers. I figured the Pro-D would beat faster, it's the out-the-box I was interested in.

The max-weight x-stratus out of the box roller is a stable pig. Its not a stable flyer, just a stable roller. This thing will not want to hook up unless you put it on that line. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The elite may be slightly more stable out of the box, but in my experience the difference is very small. I would recomend getting the Elite over the Pro D unless you really like the feel of D/DX plastic. One difference is that the elite's are soft and flexible while the Pro D is very hard.

I sell a lot of these to the women who play our league and tournaments. They tell me that the stiff Pro D that Discraft has been making recently is less understable brand new than the more flexible X plastic. If you have courses in the woods the D will beat up faster, but my impression was that your courses were more like hilly sheep pastures.
I'm heading out for lunch with a bunch of chick disc golfers right now. I'll see if they have an opinion.

They said, "Try the Storm."
Well it all depends on what your roller preferences are. I prefer a hard D/DX type disc so I use a 175 DX Leopard for rollers. I have thrown some 175 X Stratuses and they do turn over easily but feel too floppy and flop a bit too much on the ground for me. I would personally take the D Stratus. If you can find a stiff X, go for it.
