I wondered if anyone has every played any dg courses in central California, particularly from Lake Tahoe/Reno area down to around Yosemite, Death Valley area. I'm taking a ski trip out there, and am considering taking some discs if there's any awesome courses or courses that are even open in the winter. Any recomendations? Thanks

he lives in mammoth lakes and know that area pretty well and could give you a first hand account of the current snow levels and playing surfaces.

I played Truckee and Bijou last March (the snow was so bad for skiing after one day I abandoned that and just played disc golf and took pictures). There was definitely snow on the courses but for the most part the tee boxes were clear and I had a good time. Just don't make my mistake and not wear waterproof shoes/boots. My feet were FREEZING after trouncing through the drifts. Bijou was definitely the least snow covered of the two.
It's been a pretty heavy season for snow, so I doubt any of the Tahoe courses are going to be much fun until April or later. Your best bet would probably be the Auburn/Grass Valley area which is about an hour from Truckee, west on I-80. Auburn, Grass Valley & Penn Valley are all good courses and are low enough in elevation that you shouldn't have any snow problems.
