I've been throwing my dx and kc pro rocs alot lately and I'm looking to add something a bit more stable to my bag....

I'd like to know about what makes the 10x 9x etc so desirable? Are they made of the tacky "CE-like" hybrid plastic that my 10x teebird is?

they are good and stable. :D

I have a few 10X rocs. They're not made of the hybrid plastic like 10X teebirds. I think the closest you'll find to that are the old SE plastic super Rocs or the new Worlds Super rocs. The 10X's I have are similar to 11X Rocs, but a hair more overstable.

They aren't 11x :D

But seriously, they are good discs but people make too much fuss about discontinued Innova discs. Just learn to work with what you've got because if you have to have a disc that's rare now, imagine in a year when you're still dependant on that disc and you've gotta replace it. Hope you got $200 handy to spend replacing that 8x Roc when you throw it into the lake.

I think I read somewhere that the 8x rocs are made of harder plastic similar to the old Dx (san marino plastic). Is this true? Also, when you say good and stable to you mean straight or overstable?

my 8x rocs are softer, they are still quite rigid, the plastic just seems soft, not too flexible though

My 10x is more stable than any other ROC in my bag.

Now that I've had a taste of one... I want more :D

I have a 9x Roc and I cringe every time I throw it and it hits a tree. I already had a 10x Roc break completely in half just from hitting a small branch.

If there is a hole where I could possibly lose the 9x, i keep it in the bag and I pull out a beat in 2004 super roc.

Personally I thought the 2004 Super Rocs were junk. They fly nothing like a DX. Way too stable, not straight. The Super Roc is the only Roc I don't like.

Only an idiot throws that disc in that situation. If you can find a roc that flies as beautiful as the 8X, I'd like to see it.

Um...the super rocs weren't supposed to fly like dx. They were supposed to be slightly overstable.

there is nothing like a 10X Roc

I bought one used about 2 years ago and it is still in my bag - they are so stable and take FOREVER to beat in - I have three in my bag now and I don't see them coming out for a long time

Feb 09 2005, 02:56 PM
I still remember you buying 3 from Bob for $7 each.

Personally I thought the 10x were stable pigs. Not as much glide as I like in a Roc. Now a Ching Roc on the other hand now thats stable glide. I will take a regular rancho 180 any day and pay $8.00 sure It will get beat in quicker than a 10x but then it's even better!

Amen. Personally, I prefer the DX non-Ching Flat-top Rocs. So far, I've only found them in red. They suit my throwing style the best...they're not terribly overstable like a KC, and much faster with 'decent' glide.

what makes them desireable is that they are no longer stamped.

I'm not sure why everyone says they are overstable -imo they are useful as straight-turnover rocs (i've only thrown the "8X" ten time roc mold). I have found 11X to be more overstable.

I really don't know why people love them so much, all I know is that they are really easy to sell.
