I'm a 10yr disc chukker who recently moved to San Gorgonio Pass area between San Bernardino and Palm Springs from central Calif. Courses in SoCal/LA region are all clustered around LA area. There's nothing east of La Mirada, to my knowledge. La MIrada's a class act and I play it at least twice a month but it's about 70 miles from my house. Are there other players out here? Is anyone in the "Inland Empire" area currently working with public agencies on a course in our area to whose efforts I can contribute, or that would be interested in doing some exploratory work to get something going?
Somebody was looking in Corona, many months ago.
Mitch McMurtry has perhaps the hardest private course west of the Carolinas.
This is nuts.... There's a huge population base out here. We would need to show there's interest and if there's no core of local players, that might be a tough haul. I took up mountain biking when I moved here cuz I knew I'd need something to occupy my free time between weekend road trips to LA courses..

tcat, I live in the Inland Impire and also travel to La Mirada to play. My trip is only 40 or so miles, but it does make practice difficult. Park budgets space and support have been the problems. We (INNOVA) would be happy to support any effort to get courses in the Inland Impire. We are currently in the process of getting a course in a new park in Rancho Cucamonga. This has been a 10 year process so far.
Holy crap....10 years? The IE makes agricultural little Modesto, CA, my old stomping grounds with its three courses within 30 miles, look like the disc golf glam capital of the world.. Dave, is that little course still out there in Jurupa Hills regional? I was thinking of looking at Yucaipa Regional Park. Think I'll take my mountain bike out there and look around.

Welcome to the realities of high-priced real estate and limited public park space in SoCal. I am on the Parks and Rec Commision in my town, and working hard to justify a DG course, but it is hard when there is a backlog of need for tot lots and soccer fields.
We players need to step up and become active in our towns - ask for a course in a local park. Also, support the shorter layouts that bring in new players. We won't get another La Mirada until we introduce more new players to the game and generate some justification for the use of resources.
