Ok, I think it's about time we set up a post, specifically for those questions that people are too lazy to go look for on this site (or never thought to look) but that we see time and time again.
Ground Rules:
1) keep it short and sweet, try not to correct people, unless they are way off!
2) No question of the week things (ie. 2005 Roc talk, that is all the rage now, but will die off in a few weeks)
3) most of these questions are asked by newbies, so lets try to keep this informative, and most of all respectful.
Hope this works, in an effort to add some order to this forum. (**** Canadians and their order!):D

I'll go first:
Q) What kind of disc should I buy, if I'm new
A) although this changes alot b/c new discs come out, if you're new start understable and try to use a slower disc. It sounds wierd but newbies almost always get more distance out of a shark than they will a monster. Get yourself a putter (try to get one that flies really straight for you at low speeds) ask around your local park, and see if you can try other peoples disc's.
Drivers go really light, and understable, you'll be able to get more glide and distance for less effort.
And most importantly check out Blake T.'s website www.discgolfreview.com (http://www.discgolfreview.com) all the stuff under "resources" is money! best beginner discgolf site bar none!
Anything else?
FAQ: what disc does a newbie buy?
A: I say, buy a putter. If you have money for 3 discs, buy 3 putters. Then borrow/steal all non-putters from your friends while you are playing with them. All the non-newbies have discs they don't throw. Rent them for a quarter, say. But stay with the putters until you can throw them 200-250 feet. Of course, every newbie needs a JK Valk or a Flick so go ahead newbie, don't listen to me. Nobody does anyway! :(
I listen, Kurt. Something something something... STEAL somthing something, blah blah blah. I think I got the basic gist.

Q? What does a 'stable' disc flight mean?
A! It means how 'your disc' will fly STRAIGHT 'for you'. A stable disc does NOT mean OVERstable...!:p :D :o
Hello, I'm a bit of a newbie, been playin for a year, but still have much to learn. This is my first post, so seems like a good place to start. Anyways My main disks are:
Driver: Champion Beast
Midrange: EZ Buzzz
Approach: wizard
putt: soft magnet
Anyways I have a few questions?
1. Why don't they make CE plastic anymore?
2. Is Nike going to or have thay bought Innova?
3. What does bead mean( dif btwn big and small bead aviar)?
4. Why are there no candy rocs except fundraiser disks?
5. Can someone give me a time line of the types of innova plastic, is there old proline and new proline, wgat is SE?
6.Is it common to stick with only one manufacture?
7. Do most good disc golfers develop a forehand and a backhand shot?
Thanks for your time.

I do not belive that Nike will ever buy Innova.
The innova timeline is really messed up, and they basically got where they started. CE plastic got too expensive for it's efficiency. The roc question, umm they are a business and they do this to enhance their sales...

1. Innova stopped making CE plastic because it was getting too expensive. They replaced it with Champion plastic which was inferior. The current Champion plastic is much better and is on par with the old CE plastic (in my opinion).
2. To my knowledge, Nike does not own Innova.
3. A "bead" is a ring of protruding plastic on the rim. You can tell by feeling the profile. If you feel a bump (usually on bottom), that is a bead.
4. Candy ROCs are made only for certain tournaments. They keep them as fundraiser discs because they are so popular, they can sell them at $50 and make a lot of money for the tournament.
5. DX is basic plastic.
KC Pro/JK Pro is more durrable and harder than DX.
SE is a softer, more flexable, more durrable plastic than DX (discontinued).
CE plastic is the original High durrability plastic (discontinued).
Proline (old) replaced CE for a short time. It was inferior. (discontinued).
Champion replaced Proline (old) and the price was raised although the plastic remained the same. Current Champion is much better.
Proline (new) is very similar to SE.
6. Many people choose to stick with one manufacturer while many like to use a few different ones. Just make sure you are using the best discs for you, regardless of manufacturer.
7. A truely good golfer can preform many different types of throws. However, the Backhand is fundamental to every good golfer and usually makes up about 80 percent of all throws.

Q: Why does my Optimizer do that?
A: B/C it was raised on a farm with mismade paper airplanes, and so all it knows how to do is go right in a random 1/2 spiral motion.
KC Pro/JK Pro is more durrable and harder than DX.
While it is true that the Champion JK Valkyrie is a harder and more durable plastic than DX, the JK Pro Aviar-x is actually softer and more durable plastic than DX. Both have a spot in my bag...
Go back and re-read. I said Regular old KC/JK pro. Not Proline(old), or Champion JK/KC which would be exactly as you described.
KC/JK pro plastic is what KC ROCs are made of. The JK Aviar X is the exception and they are very soft. I use one myself.
3. A "bead" is a ring of protruding plastic on the rim. You can tell by feeling the profile. If you feel a bump (usually on bottom), that is a bead.
If it helps to compare, put both your Wizard and Buzz on a table, right-side up. The Wizard has a bead and it's the rounded part that's touching the table. The Buzz doesn't have a bead.
My take on #6 is that it's definately common among top pros, but many of them are sponsored by a disc company so they don't have a choice. It may be somewhat common among others but there is no real advantage to it. It's more about learning the specific discs you pick out rather than learning a specific company's discs.
I've seen it posted in a couple of places, currently can't find them but this would be a good place to post it as well. What is the "color stability of discraft discs"?

From my understanding and experience the cooler the color ie Blue, Purple the closer to understable, and the hotter, yellow, orange, red, the closer to overstable. Anyone have a differing opinion?
Order from least to most stable
Purple
Blue
Green
Yellow
Orange
Red
