Last year I played a bunch, One day 4 rounds at veterens in Lex, KY. I was done carried a bunch of stuff to my apartment in one trip. Never felt anything out of the ordinary. Next day I had back pain. I waited all week before playing my local tourney. I had a lot of pain at times and had to throw easier and smooth, had to S shot, shots I normally threw hyzer and so fourth. Being the stupid and competitive player I am I didn't play all week and went to the WVO and played injured again. And then did it the next weekend at home again. I then took three weeks off changed styles slightly to take strain or pull on the back off and got ready for usdgc. It was all better with the new style and since then my style has been the same. Every once in a while when I throw a really hard shot now I have a tingiling in my arm or shoulder, which is where I shifted the strain and power to. Now question is due I try to go back to the old style since I don't know if that is what hurt me or do I stay with style and just try not to throw that hard. It's hard not to some times, today the money was on the line at mt. airy and I had to throw a really hard last shot and parked it. After the round was over I felt a tingiling ache in my shoulder, and I feel it even now 3 hours later. I think I just have to watch it and not throw that hard but I was wondering what others think. There was nothing worse than sitting out of those tournaments, and trying to compete when injured was another thing.

Stay with your current style, and if you have to throw a really hard shot do a liTTle extra stretching of the shoulder muscle to prime for a more vigorous throw. That is what I do when I throw overhand shots.

I think your biggest problem is being a weekend warrior. Do you ever throw throughout the week? Its not good to do anything intensive on the weekend, then sit all week and repeat. You need to at least stretch out extensively before the rounds and throughout the week to reduce the pain. Do pushups or lift small weights throughout the week just to keep the muscles in use. Otherwise you are going to be in that bad cycle for a while.

I'm no expert, but i have suffered from repetitive (sp) use injuries. Hurt my knee training for a marathon, doc said wait at least 6 - 9 months before running again. Hurt my back a few years ago snowboarding, that probably took 18 months to be back to almost full strenght and flexibility, im still scared sometime when I fall, or twist wrong. I wonder if you have taken enough time off to let the injury heal. (this is especially important if you are older rather than younger ;) ). jj

Not any more because I warm up my arm properly.
