I have always feared of turning over or not flipping a disc enough and landing in a soccer game's field. I think anyone playing hole 9 on the monster at hudson mills might have at least once felt the same. Has anyone ever actually experianced this and if so what did the crowd/players think?
Sort of....
We have a 353ft hole that is a straight/turnover shot. The basket is 4 feet before a 6ft tall embankment, sloped at 45 degrees, and then there is a 10ft path before the 7ft fence of a softball field. So in short, the fence is about 20ft behind the basket and the top is 13ft high from pin level.
The last time I threw a long driver (orc) on this hole, the disc landed about 30 feet into the softball field and about 25 feet away from the center fielder. It started him, but he was not too bothered. So now I have to take a Tee Bird or an EL so I will not go too far past the basket.
Our course is also in a heavy pedestrian traffic park so bad drives hitting people is always a concern on every hole.
There's gotta be some more stories out there?
If hordes of young hispanics kicking a soccer ball around just about every fairway in santa maria counts as a sporting field, then yes i average about 27 such landings.

2004 Wintertime Open.
Someone accidently lands their drive near the soccer field during a game. One of the ****** off soccer players walks up, picks up the disc and thows it away from the field. Golfer gets really ****** (soccer field not OB so it screwed up his lie) and starts yelling at the soccer player. About 8 of the soccer players stop playing and start walking over for backup. At this point it really seamed like the guys were going to be fist fighting, and by the looks of the soccer players (soccer players don't just stop playing without a whistle for nothing!), I'm expecting a full on brawl. Other golfers hear the commotion. About 25 golfers walk straight out of the woods seemingly from nowhere. About 2 minutes of some serious tension between about 15 golfers and 15 soccer players. Comments fly through the air, "rednecks!", "beaners!" etc.. We carry off our guy, they carry off their guy. No one gets hurt, could have been an awful lot of people in jail, and a few in the hospital.

sport fields should be OB if used that regularly.
