I'm there, bring it Larry T.
Mitch, the Mc-C-Note was left on the entry form from the last COTO that I TD'd. I left it on there. Any monies gained above and beyond the players entry will be added to the payouts of all divisions. Currently the Red Rock Show is not attached to a particular charity. This could change, say, if EDGE wanted to get involved I would definitely consider it. Jay and Des, send me an email if you read this.

McE Note Challenge? :D
mitchjustice
Jan 30 2005, 09:35 AM
:D
Okay. After a few discussions with Waterloo Club members and a contact from Jay Reading of EDGE, the Red Rock Show will benefit EDGE. We hope to be of good service to the organization through the McCNote entries, sponsorship donations, and a great raffle to be held during the event. Yes Lou, it could be the McENote challenge! However, to give creedence to Father Dave Tayloe, I will still call it the McCNote challenge(its a name brand now).
It sounds like Jay and Des Reading are trying to plan on being in Red Rock to play and help support the EDGE program. For those of you not familiar with EDGE below you will find a brief description.
The Educational Disc Golf Experience (EDGE) is a non-profit(501c3) developed by educators and World Champion disc golfers to bring the lifetime activity of disc golf to school or organization wellness programs. EDGE combines interdisciplinary 3rd-12th grade lessons, activities and affordable equipment for a complete experience that will stay with students for a lifetime of healthy activity. For more information visit www.edgediscgolf.org. (http://www.edgediscgolf.org.) Anyone who donates would get a receipt for a 100% tax-deduction via EDGE and its 501c3 status.

Hey Moody,
Since we had to miss this the last year. What is the status on musical entertainment on the saturday night BBQ? Disc Golfer jam night? Do we want to look into some more organized band options? Would we have electric? Maybe an acoustic jam? I have a few fishing lines out, lemme know if you want to try to swing something.
bigbadude
Feb 11 2005, 12:50 PM
Moody are you going to be at Pease tomorrow?
Jerry, I will be in the park tommorow. Tee off at 10:00am.
Jay, let's talk. Any and all of the options should be available. The barn is full of hay this year. The last jam we had when the barn was full was held on the porch of the cabin with electric. We would have to clear it with the renters of the cabin. Should be okay though if it does not go all night?

Hello Everybody! :D
I'm here to let you know that I will be cooking the grub again.

Everyone seemed to dig the Sat & Sun lunches so they will probably be the same. Grilled Chicken pasta salad plate, grilled chicken salad sandwich or club hoagie for Sat.
Cheese burger or grilled chicken breast sandwich plates for Sun. If the steaks do not sell out Sat night, I will offer a Steak lunch on Sun.
I will leave some order forms at Pease and post one here within a day or so.

i took my medicine at ZBoas pro weekend. lets be realistic - i still have rounds in the 800's, and below 920 on a regular basis. i am NOT a pro master player yet. in the meantime, regular adv provides a challenge. there's plenty of adv guys signed up who are higher rated than me.

Dave is the Rock open for business tomorrow? I was thinking of coming out for a practice round around noon.
I thought I read earlier up thread that it was alright to come on out this weekend.
scoop
Mar 12 2005, 07:19 PM
Spent the day out at Red Rock today getting in some practice for next week.
Beautiful day...but W-I-N-D-Y as hell.
The course looks great...although the blue and white tee boxes on #2 were both under water...pond is full.
Next weekend is going to be a blast...let's just hope the winds die down some.

Mar 12 2005, 08:26 PM
ask dave but I dont think that we are going to use the normal tee box for #2, I have been playing out there lately and it looks as if he has moved the tee box for #2 to the right of #1's basket but I could be wrong

dave, apologies if this has been covered before.. .
whats the format for the weekend? which tees, etc... thanx!

last year, ADV and Open played Blue R1,White R2, and Green R3 and Blue for the playoffs; Int and Rec played White R1, Red R2 and Green R3 and Green for the playoffs. I would imagine that it would be the same this year but you might want to ask Dave for reassurance.

is green the backwards layout?
#2 on the original layout will tee from the alternate tee positions as shown on the course maps. We have played these tees several times before but not in the last few years. The flags are in the ground. You walk uphill from basket #1 past the restroom. This gives you a risk/reward shot with the water heavily in play if you try to pin it.
Ians course is marked with green flags. For the most part this layout plays backwards through the course. However, not sequentially basket to basket. Also, Ian's course uses a portable on its #11. It was not on the course today, unless Ed and Laura put one out.

groovy cant wait
last year, ADV and Open played Blue R1,White R2, and Green R3 and Blue for the playoffs; Int and Rec played White R1, Red R2 and Green R3 and Green for the playoffs. I would imagine that it would be the same this year but you might want to ask Dave for reassurance.
This is close but I think the int and recs used the whites for their final. In general, all divisions adv or above play blue, white, Ian's, and blue for final. All divisions am and below play white, red, Ian's, white for final. All everything is subject to change. Players meeting at 8:30am Saturday should clear things up if not clear at that time. :)
Six more days til Red Rock Show.
Saturday morning, ready or not, as Vinnie would say, "GAME ON!"
Please have your paid orders in the mail by tonight or Monday morning so that I can get them in time.
I will be getting to Red Rock on Friday afternoon instead of Saturday morning.
If I know you or Moody can vouche for you, you may post, e-mail or call me with your order by Wednesday(3/16). This is the only way I can guarantee a meal for you without a paid order.
The menu and order form are a few pages back on this thread.
I will know by Wednesday if I will be playing this weekend. Hopefully Dave will still have a spot for me. I'll probably get my butt kicked by Dan or Scott in Adv Masters.
Q, you have a spot but only if the steaks are on the grill while its still dinner time Saturday night :). Mmmmmm steak. The phone is already ringing off the wall here in Red Rock. Get signed up before its filled to the rim with Brim. We will take sign ups at Pease through Wednesday, after that you will have to sign up Friday at doubles. If were not full, we will take late entries Saturday morning at 7:30am to 7:45am. This years doubles will be played from the original blue tees for any Adv div. and pro divisions. Other divisions will play dubs from the white tees. Cash or merch will be added to dubs divisions with 10 teams or more.

Mar 14 2005, 01:40 PM
Dave...whay time on Dubs friday?
Mitch, Dubs will flex start from 12 noon on til 5pmish. If your coming out early to play dubs you might try to get a team to meet you here. This will keep you from having to wait for another team to play with.
" This years doubles will be played from the original blue tees for any Adv div. and pro divisions. Other divisions will play dubs from the white tees. Cash or merch will be added to dubs divisions with 10 teams or more."
Jerry, I'm not sure exactly but somewhere around 30 spots left. I'm going to post a list again after the Tuesday Mini at Pease tommorow night. We will be using the shotgun start like at Oktoberfest. This limits the field to 90, unless we add some holes : ;).

Speaking of dogs at Moody's place...
My wife and I played a practice round out there on Saturday and brought our 110 lb, 14 month old Lab/Blood Houd mix (Otis) out with us.
Otis is an energetic and playoff hound; loves the water.
Let's just say that Dave's dog Daisy is more energetic and playful than Otis.
Otis kept up pretty well with Daisy the entire day...but once we got Otis home, he didn't move off the couch until dinner time on Sunday night...little Daisy ran our old red dog into the ground. Ah, great times at Moody's...
Jerry, call me or PM me about the dog. 914 4039. I don't want to give people the wrong idea. Dogs are not allowed at the tourney.
I finally got my new mowing toy today! For those that are playing Red Rock this year...you are in for a treat. No one has ever seen fairways like this out here. I've been on the tractor for hours today. Probably about 1/3 of the way through with it.
Hello, I am intersting to play this weekend, is the field full? as I couldnt pay thru titledisc? will I be able to sign up when I get there?

Hey Sandalman, "(insert chicken noises here)"! :D
This is the list minus a few that I can't remember off the Pease list. We'll see how it shakes out after the mini tonight. If you want in, you should go by Pease and sign up at the pro shop. Looks like we have between 20-25 spots left. After that call me to get on the waiting list. Someone always does not show up for good reason. Good reasons have been car trouble, tickets, got arrested, deaths in the family, found a new girl or boyfriend Friday night, etc... We don't wish any of this on anyone.

Okay. I can't post the full list. Once again I did not get the sign ups from Pease. Mike Suida took about 15 sign ups tonight at the mini. I think we are at 88 total entries. By tommorow night I will post the final list.
I will begin a waiting list, we always have a few no shows. Call the house number for the waiting list please. You will be placed in the order the calls are received.
I never heard anything from a lot of the question marks on the early posts of the players lists. Hopefully they were some of the sign ups at the park today. Travel safe all. I'm off the board til I can post the list. Call me if anyone has any questions. forgot to post the house number...5123036080

Very nice all full and still 3 days left.
At this point we are full. If you want on the waiting list please call 303 6080 and leave you name, div, pdga #, and a phone number to contact you. You would need to be in Red Rock at the first rounds tee time to take a vacant spot.
We are considering adding 3 holes to allow for the anticipated Open players that have not signed up. Weigh in on this if you have an opinion.

Are you guys crazy? You can play advanced with a 1200 rating, no one can make you take cash. Mark is thinking about playing Worlds this year, is that wrong? It happens all the time, people play and try to get better so then they have a chance at something bigger. He will move up when he is ready, there are people in advanced that have been playing longer than him. I am glad there is such concern where he plays, he will take it as a complement. :p
I would love to play more holes at Moodys, the more the merrier. (as long as we have enough daylight ;))

Vargas is playing Open I think. He is at that stage where playing advanced will be detrimental to his game. Red Rock is a great B-Tier to play Open, have a shot and learn a lot.
If more holes mean more Open players, let's add another 9 :D

Rather then adding holes how about adding two ghost cards. One on hole 1 and one on hole 12. The distance between 18 and 1 would give some time for the ghost card to tee off before they even get there. Have one on 12 because hole 11 usually takes extra time to finish so by the time they get there the ghost card will have already teed off.
This course is already big enough and is one of the best layouts in Texas. This course also flows well having a good mixture of long and short holes. Adding three holes would just make the rounds longer and take away from the flow of the course.
Either way I'm ready to play some golf and have a great time at one of my favorite tournaments.

I won't single anyone out. I think the whole advanced division should move up to open giving us a field of about 45 players. Paying the top 40%, that means that 18 people would cash. You advanced players are more competitive than you think. I know you go compare your score to the open division after each round or each tournament and think you are not good enough. I know cause I been there. You get BETTER playing with BETTER players. Just try playing open in one or two tournaments and watch your scores go down! You can always go back to advanced with some excellent experience. :D

Doubt it. :D:D
The mowing is going well. Jay, I wish I was finished mowing when the family came out yesterday. The weather Tuesday/Wednesday early sent me on errands. Someone please call Keith Baker or PM me his phone number.
Daniel S. has a point, however, backups occur without ghost cards out here. 2 ghosts could be an LA traffic jam. We'll see.

I'd rather have to wait on a couple of extra holes then play three extra holes and still have to wait, but that is just me.

Mar 17 2005, 04:54 PM
Are you feeling old?
One suggestion, which I am sure will be unpopular, but what the hay, is that certain divisions should never play the long tees on certain holes?
Matt, take Vinnie's beer money.
spartan
Mar 17 2005, 05:00 PM
why not run it like u did for COTO with extra holes? assigned tee times.
LouMoreno
Mar 17 2005, 05:05 PM
Mr. Unpopularity,
Only the advanced and open divisions play the blue tees. Are the divisions you're referring to included in there? :D

I would've cashed in my last 7 tournaments not just at Red Rock. By the way Vinnie we will have to see about the lunch money because I am paying my own way in on this one(gas money too) :D:D
If you start cashing in then you would have lunch money.

It seems you and Dan are both traitors to the Adv. Masters cause.

This advanced/open talk is pretty funny. Once you start kicking the %#$@ out of the players in your division consistantly it's time to move up or move on. "I have'nt played in awhile, I'm out of practice, my scar from high school hasn't heeled yet(no pun intended scooter) are all **** poor excuses. Your just hurting your own game when you don't move up.

Everyone have fun this weekend and be careful
BG in 2 weeks
Amen.
I don't know why there are so many beoches worried about what someone else is doing.
And Mayo, just because I spanked you once at Pease at the Saturday mini doesn't make me an open player; Just yet.
There will be plenty of times for you to make donations to me in the near future, for lessons of course; be patient. :
