A question for Chuck or anyone who understands the ratings system.
We don't have ratings over here, but Derek Robins has a rating of 978. Last season I generally finished between 6 and 10 strokes behind him over 3 rounds of 18. Any chance of an estimate at what my player rating would be?

Each throw is roughly equal to 10 rating points for 18-hole courses in the 5600-7000 ft range. It sounds like your rating is around 900. We're working to get more non-North American events rated in 2005 so maybe you'll get a rating later this year.

If I'm 2-3 strokes per round behind him, wouldn't that be 940-950ish?
Do you know if there are any plans to rate the courses in Finland ahead of the European Championships this summer? That'd be awesome, and would give a rating to a huge chunk of European players.
Of course, I'll have to join the PDGA first! :o

Sorry, I didn't note the 6-10 throws was for 3 rounds so 940-950 is correct. There were several Scandanavian and Japanese events that got ratings in 2004 and that will continue in 2005. A few more countries' events are getting PDGA ratings in 2005 and other countries are in discussions to be added soon.

So looking at the divisions guidlines, that'd make me an Adv Am?
How would I find out if the Epila and Nokia courses to be used for the Euros 2005 (http://www.ec2005.net/) are on the list to be rated?

Advanced, or Master Pro if you're old enough.
Go online and look at the course stats for 2004 events and see if there are SSA values for those courses. You'll have to contact PDGA HQ to find out what events will get rated in 2005.

Last year the Nordic Tour ran PDGA sanctioned events and they had enough ratings generating PDGA members to generate ratings for all the members. The European Championship is PDGA sanctioned so it looks close to certain that the players will get ratings for the event.
