Ouch, the truth hurts and creates hostility. If it were truly that bad I would not aTTend the events that had corses that I did not like.

why start a new one when the one you have is a hot topic. if the PDGA can put this together and then delete post then they need to fix the problem

Jimmy, using the message board is a privelege. Get used to it and like it. You're too big to cry.

Schweb, when did you start being unable to take a joke? You are one of the few who actually plays in Va other than my two buddies that I bribe.

Do not play games with me. Even you said it needs to be fixed. Also and I Quote" They can fix it!"
The message board is Awesome! I do enjoy using it. THEY DO NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM! What good is having a disscusion marked as a favorite and have it jump to an empty page. Then you have to go back pages and scroll to fine the new post. I think that defeats the purpose!

They could make it easy on themselfs by just not deleting any prevous post. then the pages would be right.

That's how i feel. Over 5 years of posts down the drain? I just don't understand.....does the message board not have any save points? Obviously i don't know anything about MB's, or i'd offer help.

I'm sure that the technical folks are working very hard - as volunteers, after their day jobs are done - to fix the problems with DISCussion. Do remember that the entire thing is volunteer-run and they put the hours in they can, until it's fixed. And not all volunteers can pitch in and help - I have not the technical knowledge for it, for example.

Also, to my knowledge the current problems were caused by corrupted sequel tables and had nothing to do with any moderation of DISCussion.

"The PDGA" is every member and the ones who volunteer and work on our IT are part of that group. If you folks could please just assume that the right people are on the job, instead of criticizing their work even as they do it, it would make their volunteer lives a little nicer to live.

No amount of complaining or whining is going to make it get done faster; but it will make the volunteer lives of the people doing the work less pleasant. Anyone who would not want their lives to be more pleasant let me know and when if we ever start kicking folks off, you can be the first.

I corrupted those sequel tables when they were new by introducing them to the idea of amateur sequel tables playing for prizes.

[QUOTE]
:DI knew they would get them going again. Not a bad turn around for volunteers Terry.

Thanks, Grunion. But I am going to use a little bit of personal leverage here to make a point about PDGA volunteers.

I took my wife, Sheila, to the emergency room at the University of Michigan Hospitals this afternoon because she has palpitations and a very high blood pressure reading or two early in the day.

She's there, now, as I write this, undergoing an overnight's monitoring and various CAT scans and blood tests. [Edited: It's the next day now and she's still in the hospital but they cannot find any problem! Looks like good news.]

But - the point - in and around this I am looking at emails and DISCussion and trying to stay current, preparing things for the Summit, helping Jay Reading to get a "pro" survey underway, working with Lorrie on the women's group ideas that are coming through, etc., and realizing that most of the people out there do not realize how much *extra* unpaid work this is for the people who make things happen!

From the TD, who plans an event for months and kisses the butts of local park morons (Not in Ann Arbor, ours are fully human and very smart.) to the bricks and mortar retailer who pretends to his wife that he's making a profit supporting the sport. And he or she is doing this while other things happen - jobs, family crises, lack of jobs, personal illness, and so forth.

In our last big survey, in 2004, 25 percent of the respondents noted that they spent more than 100 hours a year doing volunteer work with regard to disc golf. They (and you, those of you who are members) *are* the PDGA.

Guys, "The PDGA" really and truly is 'US' - not someone else, not an authority figure lost in the mist.

Oh, man, I almost let it all go. Cya on the course!

Good to hear Terry. I am glad they did not find anything. Keep an eye on her and be sure to go out of your way to make this Valentines EXTRA special, if you know what I mean. :DEmbrace life at its fullest and the rewards shall reign upon thee. That one just jumped into my head outa no where. Lets not forget all the non members that support this sport and volunteer their efforts. Although the percentage is small and dont administrate the odds and ends of the PDGA, lets not forget the little people to. It is a giant organization when we all stand strong together and support this awesome sport. As far as people bad mouthing the mods and support techs of this site, I believe certain individuals just assume that this site is so professional and rock solid the majority of the time that the frustration of taking these services for granted strikes hard. Dont take it personal guys. No one can be the perfect end user, but we are all focused on one thing, supporting this sport. I am glad to hear things are better Terry. Keep up the good work!
