Had a question regarding sponsorships. How does one go about getting sponsored by a disc golf company, and what do sponsors usually offer thier players?

I would imagine equal parts >1000 rating and personality (good or bad) would get you in.
There was a thread on this before. Not only were things specialk had listed in there but it also included winning some big tournies (NT, A-Tiers).

As far as I go, I get discs, apparel, 2 entry fees(Worlds, USDGC), money bonuses for top 5 finishes at A tiers, NT's and Majors.

I wish i was sponsored. With all the tournaments i play and the traveling I do it would be really sweet to have a little help with anything. We shall see how this year works out and if anything comes of that. Hopefully i will be able to become part or a team by the end of this year. Atleast that is my ultimate goal of this season. :D

Play hard, Practice your weaknesses, and be a little less vocal and I think you have shot considering the number of tournaments a year you play.

I could be a little less vocal. Actually i have really calmed down this past year. 90% of the things i say though im just joking anyway so its all in fun. I would really love to get sponsored. Its a dream of mine to play for team Discraft and i hope after this year that dream will become a reality. Who knows though. We will just have to wait and see.
Matt if your makin the trip out to AZ i may have some room for you to stay with us at the host hotel. I already have my reservations. So let me know and ill see what i can do.

I like how Discraft sponsors up and coming players. I would like to be sponsored by Innova but being from NC, especially Raleigh, it is very difficult.

Disc company normally sponsor pro's, not Am's. The quicker you want sponsored the quicker you should turn Pro. Practice that putt, it shouldn't be holding you back that much. If you drive about half as good as you say you do you should be able to at least compete in the pro division. Good luck and see you in Arizona.

To get sponsored would be awesome, just have to practice hard, play hard, and have good results, at least that's what I hear from all the top pros. Hopefully good things will happen by the end of this year.

My g/f said she is going to sponser me for a few tournies this year. She kinda got mad when I told her I was cutting back on my PDGAs so I could use that money saved to take her out and such.
She told me that disc golf was something I enjoyed and she didn't want me to quit because of her.

keithjohnson - next person I will pass in post count.
should be pretty easy since you make about 50 posts a day to my 1-2 posts
what you need to do is TRY to pass me in score at the virginia supertour in may....that's means more than stupid post counts....of course you first have to wait to be able to go outside to practice since your snowed in while i'm playing in 70+ degrees every day :D

I think Gateway does a great deal for Disc Golf, and in particular by sponsoring AMs.
For me, it was a matter of already throwing a lot of Gateway (Theres a GDS Pro here in Omaha) and then taking some initive by contacting David. I basically told him my goals, and what I fealt I could do for him, and we worked things out from there.
Schweb, how did you get a Pilot sponsorship worked out? Free/discounted gas? Sounds good to me

Yeah we got a limited gas card. We got it for helping out with the Championship throughout the year.
