JUst curious, and wondering what may be the cause other than my lack of arm speed and skill. I have a Banshee, 175g...the one with the 4 pronged star on the front. It's still in excellent good condition, but would be considered "broken-in", no chips or gouges though. I'm not a great thrower....and struggle with ultra long range drivers. But I can throw them "somewhat". But this Banshee won't fly. I mean this thing immediately flops over and falls to the ground. It's like throwing a car tire! If I sidearm it, it'll go a little farther....but sidearm isn't my best throw by any means. Any ideas...other than sacrificing it?

I have a 175 banshee, and it feels like I"m throwing a ten pound weight when I throw it. I only really use it in the heavy wind, and when I need a 200 to 250 hyzer in heavy wind. A max weight banshee is tough get to fly straight. I have a big arm, and it is still tough to get to fly far. My furthest throw with one is about 350' in heavy wind. Don't bring it out unless it is windy.

How far are you throwing it ? I get close to or about 350 easily with mine. I am using the 11X versions. Try a different Banshee and retire the one you have now, Try one in champions, sounds like you have a SE or DX one

I think of the banshee as a midrange / slightly shorter Firebird. I don't expect mine to fly like a driver, I expect it to fly like an overstable midrange. If I need an overstable driver...well that's why they make Firebirds.
I'm not dead set on making it work....or any other Banshee. I just wondered if it was the weight, the disc, or all my technique. I don't throw that well to begin with. But of every disc I've ever thrown, none have ever behaved like this Banshee. I'm being serious when I say I think I could sling a car tire further. Throwing backhand, I might be able to chunk this thing 75-100 ft. It will (dead serious) flop over and fall right to the ground.

That could come in handy someday.

The really only way to know whats happening is if you had another one to throw, you could compare them. if they did the same thing, it might be the way you are throwing them, if they flew different then it might be just a defective disc or is worn out.
Have you thrown the disc in the past and now It just dies? or have you just started throwing it?
I've had the disc for a while, but just recently started throwing it when I'm out in a field practicing. I threw it a few times when I first got it, with no success. A friend of mine has one and he has recently retired his as well. He only used it for sharp right dog-legs, throwing sidearm. He said his didn't fly well either. I haven't thrown his yet.

i like my CFR banshee, though i use it exclusively for FH shots and in extreme head winds. beat DX banshees seem to make good FH rollers.
I am not saying you have bad technique, but try some less stable discs, and when you can throw them farther, try the Banshee again. What do you want it to do? It is designed to be an overstable driver. At low speeds, it will do just as you say. I think a very big arm can throw this disc a long way. I used to throw it like the others have said, into the wind and short hyzers. If you want it to go farther, it probably won't, unless you take it to a cement wall and really break it in! :D

What else have you tried throwing ? besides the banshee
I usually throw a Cheetah, Gazelle, Leopard or Orc for tee shots when I'm not throwing a Moray.
What IS a moray. I've never seen or even heard of anyone throwing one. Am I out of the loop. Schweb????

It's an older, discontinued Innova mid-range disc. Obviously many folks didn't like them at all. I happen to love mine.

If you are use to Cheetahs, Leopards, & Morays .... then the Banshee is way out of your league. The Banshee is for power throwers throwing in high wind situations where you don't want the disc to flip. I love my Banshee. It is my main driver during the winter months.
How about the Python? that disc is BAD. :D

what a hotstamp!
BigKahuna, I suspect you have a rather low-speed, nose-up, slightly hyzer throw that doesn't allow certain overstable discs to fly well.
I suspect you will have similar problems with discs like:
Extreme, WhippetX, Firebird?, Flick, #1 Hyzer, Demon, etc.
Find some people with these discs and try them.
That will help you figure out whether it's the Banshee or your throwing technique.
Note: this is not to say that a nose-up, slightly hyzer is necessarily a BAD thing.
In the good-old days, we fossils didn't have overstable discs to throw and we tended to throw a lot more nose-up hyzer shots than golfers do today.
I'm sure a big part of the problem is me. I'm just getting comforatble throwing a Tee Bird and Cheetah again. I can even toss an Orc way better than that Banshee. I gave it to a friend who wanted to try it. But after a few more weeks of practice, I'll throw it again and see how it reacts. I've noticed some slight improvement in my throws in the past 2 weeks. I just started back playing after a long layoff......and I was never good! But that disc was the one disc that I absolutely could not throw. Oh well, just curious....and amused slightly!

Stick to the less stable plastic, and you'll probably be better off. Then when you start flipping everything over ... try more stable discs.
Try a Valkyrie or a Archangel.
If you are trying to get a Banshee to go straight you better have a HUGE amount of arm speed and snap...
I always used a Banshee for a 300+ horkin hyzer into the wind or not, I always knew what it would do. I never tried to get it to go straight though....and I highly doubt I could.
