We were able to get a big part of the course mowed today and probably would have just about finished it if it weren't for so many problems.(murphys law) I rented the tractor and brush hog today and started mowing at about 8:45 am. At about 10:00 a bolt came off that held the drive shaft on. I drove 9 miles into town and bought a new bolt, nut and lock washer and got back to mowing at about 10:30. At about 11:00 I got the tractor stuck in the mud. After working it back and forth for awhile I was able to get it out. (WHEW!) I then was able to get quite a bit done until about 2:30 when I ran over a big rock that instead of shearing the bolt it screwed up the universal joint and the shaft that goes to the brush hog. I messed up when replacing the bolt. I should have replaced it with a bolt that would snap easy under pressure. :mad:I then went into town again to try and find the parts that I needed only to find out that it was a special kind of shaft that nobody had. There is no telling how much I will now owe the tractor rental guy. Cody and Max Mcdonnell came out with their four wheeler and pull behind mower and was able to get a few more fairways mowed. I just thought I would let people know that although I have procrastinated quite a bit this year about getting the course mowed that it will be mowed soon. That is if we can keep any of our equiptment working.

Thats one tough day, Johhny. Hope the rest goes a little smoother and maybe get lucky with the broken part and have it be very cheap :D. Will have to head that way within the next month. Jonesing bad for some revenge on that course.

The date is April 2-3. Camping is available ON the course at 3$ a night for tents and 8$ for campers(electric and water included). Johhny will have to tell you the entry fees, but I am sure it will be reasonable.

Jan 15 2005, 03:00 PM
3$ a night is CHEAP! :Dhere in northern Oklahoma camp sites 8-16$ per night for tents.

Sorry about the late reply. I haven't been on board here lately. Still mourning the Colts playoff loss. The info Casey gave you is right. Thanks Casey. Only Jose` knows what the entry fees will be. I am sure he will post information about the tournament soon. I still haven't finished mowing the course. I haven't had the money to rent the tractor and brush hog again yet and I still owe money for repairs on the brush hogs universal joint and shaft that I broke when I ran over a big rock. I will let you guys know when I finally get it mowed. I did get all of the fairways mowed on the pavillion side of the course and Cody Mcdonell and his dad Max mowed holes 11,12,14 and part of 4 with there 4 wheeler with a pull behind mower. They had a part break also before they could get much done. This course eats mowers! I have just been lucky over the years that I haven't broken more stuff. I have had to get my personal riding lawn mower fixed several times after trying to mow it with that.

I am planning on finishing up the mowing and trimming sometime next week. I will also put out new flags for the tee pads. Most of them are either missing or just weathered badly. It will feel really good to get the mowing out of the way and get back to just playing it.

I finally got around to posting the 5th Hillclimber results on my website www.geocities.com/okie_chainrattler /index (http://www.geocities.com/okie_chainrattler/index) Just 11 months worth of procrastinating. If the PDGA didn't post the results I would have posted them soon after the tourney. 115 players names is alot of typing. Whew! I have to rest now. :p

I finished brush hogging the course today. Now I only need to weed eat holes 5 & 6. The only way to mow them is with a weed eater. I can't get the tractor to them because of the steep hills that lead down to them. Some low life vandalized hole # 9's basket. They took the top assembly with chains and left only the pole and the bottom basket. I think the City of Duncan will replace it but I am not sure yet. We will use a portable for the Hillclimber if we have to.

The course is ready to play. I weedeated holes 5 & 6 and replaced all of the tee flags today. Marty Dayhoff also used his trimmer on some of the fairways and tee boxes. Thanks Marty. Hole # 9 like I said in the previous post has been vandalized. I am still hoping the City of Duncan will replace the basket. Hole # 3 needs some lopping shear work but is still playable although very tight.

Weather permitting I will be out at the lake alot this weekend playing, picking up trash and trimming trees. This would be a good weekend to get some early practice for the Hillclimber so come on down and join me.

I emptied all of the trash cans on the course today and in the process I got my truck stuck bad. Luckily four disc golfers from Okc showed up and helped me push it out. Thanks guys!!!
