So do you throw a disc you know you cant replace? I have a SWEET 8X roc in VG condition, with MY name on it, but I dont wanna get too used to it because I know I cant afford to replace it. What would YOU do?

I see two options:

1) throw it and enjoy every throw, knowing that each could be your last. (kinda like living life)

2) Sell it, but a bunch of 11x rocs, and tell people how you used to have an 8x. (Kinda like dropping out of school to work at Wal-Mart.)

Unless it is part of a collection throw it. What is the point of sweet plastic if it is not used. If that is the case sell it to me

What good is a disc you cannot throw?

I have only two out of the 50 discs I own that are hanging on the wall. A full color Beast from the first tournament I placed well in, and a "Winners" disc from this past years Ace Race. The Beast is too light (172g) and the Glide...well...too understable.

But I throw a few unreplaceable discs. Champion Whippet, SE Leopard, and a bunch of first run Discraft stuff.

There are many people who throw unreplaceable discs, San Marino Rocs, Lavonne Wolfe Rocs (if you live in or around the south you would understand), SE and old CE plastic.

Throw what you like and what works for you, I would not worry too much about the value, unless it is a proto whippet, which last I heard and saw, was over $100!

Throw it! That's what it was made for.

when i would break out a 1st run ce valk or firebird, or a ce roc, it would give me one more thing to think about [don't want to lose this disc] when throwing. i did not need that. i sold these for good $ [i'm not a collector] and now throw stuff that can be easily replaced. my 2 cents

You've already put your name on it, throw it.

Aye. Just don't throw it on blind shots.

Moolie has the coolest avatar I've seen yet.

As for the throw it or not:
I have a 2004 Candy Glow Roc that is not easily replaceable (although moreso than some) that is my primary mid-range. I use this thing almost as much as my putter. I got a backup in case something happens to the current one, but what I try to do is carry a disc that throws as similarly as possible for when there are bad water hazards and shule around. So...I'm throwing it, but being cautious. That's what I'd recommend. If it was a 2001 Roc, then I'd sell it or keep it then sell it later.

I'm with ya Dawg. My primary hyzer mid-range is a 180g ChampGloRoc. I've got another still in the sealed bag and it will stay there. Yet another was picked up very reasonable off e-bay as an x-out standby. ChampGlo plastic is the most durable stuff I have seen, bar none. Throw -em. :D

just put a similar disc in your bag if your playing a course with water or some place that is really easy to loose a disc.

My CE stuff has all been replaced by Z. I like being able to get the same disc for 15 bucks (or less!). Who knows how much a CE disc will run, if you can find it. I like the Z better than the CE. It took some time to get used to it, but all for the better! I am glad I never got used to any "expensive" plastic. :D

just throw it or sell it someone that will throw it

Lavonne Wolfe Rocs (if you live in or around the south you would understand),

What is a Lavonne Wolfe Roc?

I used to live and die by an old ancient Roc (like 12 years old)I had until I played my first little tournament around here and someone told me it was a collectable. Now I"m afraid to throw it and have switced to a Buzz and Pro Shark. If Gimp had never said anything I still wouldn't know what a San Marino Roc is and I'd still be throwing it.

Throw it as long as it is above 60 degrees in temperature. Any lower in temp and hiTTing a tree there is a good chance it will break.

What is wrong with throwing it? A used San Marino Roc is not worth that much money.

BTW, if you really liked the way it flies, I have a few used San Marinos and Ontarios that I would sell CHEAP.

a little to late on the advice train there, I had that happen to me with my ontario roc, but got another one, from the Colonel. have not thrown it tho. it is a klol/shiner fundraising disc

As for carrying another disc that flies similiar in case of water/danger, I do that already cuz I have a 2001 Roc that I dont want to lose either (even though I have a replacement stashed away). I do like the way the 8X feel and fly but I took it out of the bag once i found out how much it was worth. I think Ill wait til it gets warmer and I can play more and break it out of the closet. :)

I have an Ontario Roc if you wanna trade, ching stamp, 172 g, white. Pm if interested.

Hi, newbie here. I thought I'd chime in on this. I have an old Moray that is my favorite disc. I can't find another, but also wouldn't consider retiring it. I think collectors should collect discs, and players should throw discs. If you do both, but 3 of everything!

i agree, the only disc i don't throw anymore is my 1st run Aviar... i've played with it for 3 years, and noticed it was startting to get warped. so i retired it and got a Fly Dye CE Aviar. Love the way it throws, but i got my old one hangin up. i love that putter...
