I finished playing a round today and noticed how much different my bag was from last year. There are alot of new discs that came out this year in there.
I'm going to post what discs are in my bag now and then come back next New Years Eve and compare.
My bag is in the car now and its to cold to go outside, I'll post on New Years Day.

in the last year i have changed from an aviar-x to a wizard and finally settled on a pro rhyno for putts and shots <150. i have also gone from a roc to a spider for my mid game and have gotten more consistant releases, thus less surprises and grip-lock. i find the spiders fly like a longer rhyno. main drivers stayed the same [teebirds and dx beasts] i went from a speed demon to a z-pred/tsunami combo and find that to be more usable overstability. am experimenting with a sidewinder for long rollers [as opposed to my more beat dx beast]

My Beast were changed out for Orc's. My turn over disc was replaced with a Sidewinder. My SM Roc was replaced with a Super Roc. And I carry only 7 discs now compared to 10. Beadless Aviar will never change.

Jan 01 2005, 08:48 PM
Interesting question!

Let's see -- I lost my trusty H Apache straight driver, which I have recently replaced with an Archangel -- not quite as straight, but flies farther. I replaced my 160-gm CE Valk with a 150-gram Champion Valk. I added the Flash. Added a Z-Buzzz. Retired the 149-gm JLS. Added a Champ ORC.

What stayed the same? My putters (Proto Wizard and X-Putt'r), midrange (Z-Flash and Demon), and the Z-Reaper.

Aviars became Wizards, Valks and Beasts became Orcs, which then became Illusions, teebirds and tl's remained true, and the Rocs are slowly becoming elements.

The main thing that has changed with the discs in my bag are the number of times, JK, BS, and KC have won... ;) other than that, the bag remains the same but has doubled in size and has a nice set of Quad Shock straps.

Went from a olive small Innova bag, to the Gray Carolina Bag with Quads.

My selection is almost all new this past year, except the DX teeBird and the Aviar. The biggest change is the lack of my girlfriends plastic in my bag. As I got hooked, she went back to school and doesn't play anymore. She was good, her loss....

I changed from a crappy Innova Tour Bag with the diamond fabric, that barely lasted a year to a new Revolution Carolina Edition. Innova needs to stick to plastic and leave the bags to the professionals.

I suggest you flip flop those 2 bags and make your tournament bag the one with less discs and make your practice bag the one with multiple discs and different molds. I have found you will get a lot more consistent if you only have 3 or 4 molds in your bag. If you look at most of the top pros they have 3-5 molds in there bag but they just have multiples of every mold. I developed a lot more consistency when i switched from 9 different molds down to the 3 that i mainly throw now. I went from throwing Talons Wildcats Crushes Preds Wasps BUZZZS Rocs and Aviars to throwing Tsunamis BUZZZs and Challengers. I have a Z Flick and a Z Wasp for when i need really overstable but my 3 main molds are the Tsunami BUZZZ and challenger.

Your right man i was putting with Cam Todds at that time. My memory is horrible man. You going to be out there again this year???

Jan 04 2005, 12:55 PM
Mind you I have not yet been playing for a year. The reason I have so many molds is because of another source of consistency. Arm motion and speed. I basically throw the same throw everytime I am on the tee box. Sure disc decision takes about 2 seconds longer then everyone else, but I have a good knowledge about how each disc flies.

What makes me wonder about what the top pros list as their bag contents conflicts with the bags I see them carry. I see them with the huge touring bags, but say they only carry a few molds. Now having varying conditions of each mold in the bag would be the same as having different molds, wouldn't it? The only discs I have more then one of in my bag are, aviars, leopards and Buzzzes, my favorites.

For now I like carrying alot of variety, perhaps as I get older closer to masters age I will lighten the load, untill then I will keep my set up. See you in BG.

Not really because the disc feels EXACTLY the same in your hand it just flys different. You dont have to change your grip or anything. I have 3 Tsunamis and they all fly differently and i am way more comfortable with them then i would be with a Pred a Tsunami and a Talon which would pretty much cover the flight paths that i have with my Tsunami. I know from expierience that its easier to have 4 of the same molds that all fly different then it is to have 4 different molds. You release is always the same your grip is always the same and the disc is always the same. The only thing that changes is the flight path.

I carry 3 Tsunamis
174 Z For all Hyzers
174 Fusion (new) for S shots and LONG drives that need to hyzer at the end
174 Fusion (beat) for straight shots and turnovers.
Same with my BUZZZs and same with my Challengers. Its easier to develope muscle memory when you are throwing the same disc and not changing molds all the time.

Just my opinion. If carrying 12 molds works for you then go ahead and carry 12 molds. I just like the 4 because there is only one disc in my bag that can fly that certain way. So i HAVE to throw that disc i dont have to say well my beast flips and my valk flips and my wildcat flips and my crush flips but which one is going to flip well on this shot. I just grab my beat fusion Tsunami and throw that.

Good luck this year and i will see you in Bowling Green.

from last year till now my bag is completley different because i just started last year now it's fully of nothing but white plastic

In 2004, I was using Blazes for midranges so I had about 3 in the bag. I also had really beat up Spirits for distance.

Now, I still have mostly Spirits, but also a few Illusions for distance. And now I'm down to just a single Blaze with the introduction of the Element and ElementX.

I have less Demons, but use them more often now. (I have at least 10 brand new Demons in the closet just begging to spike hyzer.)
