Diana and I like the idea so much, we have been doing this for four years. Any kid who plays in our league and shows up for a tournament, we buy a membership for. This way they get the magazine for a year and see some kids they know in the box scores and maybe it helps them get a little more excited about the game.

When kids show up for tournaments where you are, go forth and be the "we" who makes it happen for them.

I first played DG when I was 13. An father of a friend in my Boy Scout Troop introduced the entire troop to DG at a meeting by bringing his basket and a bunch of putters in. He then brought about 10 of us to a World's Biggest the following spring and taught us how to play. He got some of us to come out to a local tournament at the end of the year where we paid $5 and won an average of 3 discs each having our own Junior division(league always gives lots of prizes to 1st time players).

Following year he brought us out to league and I've been going ever since. I was able to beat the guy who taught me how to play by my 4th year of league, and now I'm a DG fanatic who wants to play for a living.

Just an example of what half an hour that this guy took can lead to. He spent no money(besides gas to drive us to league with him), only time and effort.

Getting the EDGE program in schools is helping in my area. I think 3 schools have baskets and discs now. I've met kids and parents on the course who have mentioned they learned about DG in school. Hopefully it sticks with some of those kids like it did me.
