#1 is dead on!!!
The Canyon is THE BEST course in the world.
On your way to or from Bowling Green I would suggest checking out Elizabethtown, KY. Worth the side trip off the highway. Not the best, but quite interesting.

These may be great courses ....in the summer. But until you have played some of the Texas courses( a couple come to mind Zboaz and Waco's beast) In the dead of Winter 60degrees :Dyou may want to re-think what is a FAVORITE course

Favorite and Best are two different concepts and the lists for a person are not likely to line up although some courses might make both lists. I like Gran Canyon since it's southern (as the temp is currently 8), fun, has some elevation and reminds me of my home course. It has a ways to go from a design standpoint to get to 'great' status. Hopefully, Hosfeld will eventually be able to address some of those issues we looked at with the owner when I played there almost two years ago, because it could be great.
Idlewild is a great tournament course but might suffer somewhat in the fun factor category for daily play for many players. I'm not sure even Gold level players truly have courses like Winthrop Gold as favorites for day-to-day play due to the stress and time to play them. I suspect Gold players 'secretly' love to play courses designed for Blue level players because they have more opportunities to shred the design.

I dunno. I'm a Blue level player (or am I White now?), and I hate playing Red level courses because if I don't shoot 15 down or better, I get frustrated.

Red is too far down but perhaps you like White level courses, not that there are many designed for that level (at least by intent).

15 minutes away? You drive very fast.
I have found one as good or better. Check out Vince Whorley's course, Timber Ridge. It has creeks, hills and cows. The scenery is even better. The Blue Ridge Mountains are off in the distance. Let's all say "Peaks of Otter".

Danke. I'll have to make some inquiries when we are headed to Hustle, Virginia with the dogs in the spring. Next time you Raleigh boys are headed west on the I-40/421 corridor holler at me and we'll play Ramcat. Elevation galore, tight but fair(ways), not a long course but I made up for it with extra trees..... :D

The CANYON is the sickest course I have played, by far!!!! I didn't know what I was getting into when I pulled in the driveway. But after I looked off of #1's tee pad I knew It was on. I recommend this place to anyone that can figure out how to get there. And help out the owner out($). I heard a rumor that it might not be there forever. We need to support who supports us.
I have heard great things about Warwick. Is it worthy of a trip from Michigan????
Thanks to everone, this is the best way to find out where my next road trip will be.

A visit to the Warwick (NY) course is a must for anyone traveling to or thru the NYC area. The appeal of our course is that we have 2 concrete tee pads and 2 baskets on all 18 holes, thereby having 4 permanent layouts. The layouts allow for a player of any skill level to play a course appropriate for their ability or desire for fun or punishment. The 4 layouts per hole are in most cases very different from one another, in that we didn't just move the alternate tees and pins forward or backwards. In most cases they are also moved "sideways" so that different flight paths and shots are utilized. The course offers great diversity and beauty and is well-groomed.

Another vote for Idlewild.
A few friends and I drove down to the Cincy area last weekend and played six different courses -- three of 'em (Idlewild, Banklick and Mt. Airy) would end up on my Top Ten list right now, just behind the Toboggan Course at Kensington.
(Actually, Idlewild may be my #1 favorite, since I was able to drag a cooler of beer along with me there!)
You folks in Northern Kentucky have some awfully nice disc courses down there. We stopped and talked with a couple of the guys who've adopted specific holes at Banklick; it was great to see the pride they took in their little plots of real estate, and the effort they put into keeping it special.

All these courses demand everything a player has. Different shots, long D, and smooth finesse. That is my criteria for a good course and why they are my favorties. I cannot stand courses which you can throw hyzer rocs on every hole. BORING!

I think you are mixing up which course has the adopt-******* program. It's Idlewild and it is headed by Disc Golf Hall of Fame nominee and Idlewild course Pro Fred Salaz. I'm glad you enjoyed our courses here in the Cincinnati area (which of course includes northern KY). Were you the person a friend and I talked to on hole 16 at Idlewild (we had just played the long 1001 foot hole 15)?
btw, if you get a chance to return, AJ Jolly is a beautiful course too. It, Idlewild, Mt. Airy, and Banklick would top my list of best area courses (though there are many contenders)
The Disc n Dat Bluegrass Open is coming up (Memorial Day weekend) and will be played per usual at Idlewild and Banklick. Tell your friends. visit www.cincinnatidiscgolf.com (http://www.cincinnatidiscgolf.com)

The thread "Best Course in Every State" also has some good info. You get there by clicking here. (http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Courses&Number=117939&fpart=1&PHPSESSID=)
8 courses in one day? I've played in High Point, Winston Salem, both courses in Burlington, both in Durham, Buckhorn and Cedar Hills on several occasions, but I've only been playing for a couple of years. I've never played a course outside the state of North Carolina.
I would CERTAINLY be interested in the Great 8! If you could just send me some info (when, how....) I'd appreciate it.
