The putters are JBird stamped Aviars with the test plastic for the Omega Super Soft. If you have seen the gummy sharks that were made, it's that same kind of textured plastic. Ive never been able to get a difinitive answer on how many may have been made but JBird thought less than 1000. Not sure what they are worth but after about 3 years of trying I got J to sell me another one. Maybe a little expensive but oh so tasty! Anyone know where to find another? :D

You can see the plastic is different. It feels more like kcpro plastic than champion plastic. It feels soft for kc even. But i've hit trees hard with it and it's real durable so i don't know.

Why do you bash Gateway discs so much? They aren't bad discs! Everyone has their preferences and I certainly don't bash you for throwing Innova. If I wanted to throw Innova plastic, I would because I live in Bellingham, WA and that is all the disc golf stores carry here. I have to get all my Gateway plastic online. I actually would rather throw Gateway plastic. Personally, I love the hardness, durability, and grip of S plastic, I like the cold weather properties of H, and I love the feel of E. And then there are the molds. The Element is a fantastic Midrange that goes exactly where I point it. The Wizard is arguabally the best putter on the market today and numerous pros have said that if they were not already sponsered, they would be using it. I like it because of it's great chain grabbing properties and feel.

If these discs work for me, why wouldn't I use them? And unlike Discraft and Innova, they have customer service. You can call the shop and talk to the people who actually create the discs and the pros who actaully win tournaments with them. Call them up and talk discs some time. They will also help you find the exact disc you are looking for. The Gateway boys are definately a step ahead in terms of customer service.

So that's why I use Gateway. This year I have 19 perfect (all birdie) rounds and 21 aces. These discs work for me. Please don't bash them any more.

Just for your information, Gateway Graham, I have randomly called to Innova { east and west} and spoke to people at for up to 20 minutes at a time asking them questions about discs and runs and anything else I could think to badger them with. I can never say I ve called Discraft or Gateway but am not degrading thier customer service either. Most recently Sam at Innova west talked with me for a half hour about the Champion Whippet.

Graham without getting too far off track and not to turn this into another company a vs. company b thread, I'm going to have to disagree with your opinions on customer service also.

I deal with all of the companies named and have found each of them totally committed to customer service. They achieve a service rate that most companies can only hoope to hit.
Examples
Discraft calling me at home to verify that the artwork I want done is up to my standards before they start stamping.
Or When they go through the trouble of pulling specific weights and colors so that I may fill special orders. And I've spent alot of time on the phone with Kieth and other employees making sure everything was going to be taken care of.
Innova. Maybe it's due to my close proximity to the East coast plant or friendships with the staff but they exemplify what customer service is all about. There have been instances where employees have hand delivered items to me, going out of thier way when they should be getting home after work. Or the latest example was last Friday. I needed to pick up a few things and drove down. Unfortunately they were not there as they were celebrating thier Christmas party, with the exception of one, Russell Schwartz. He saw me pull in and opened the doors for me. He then helped me pick out the items I needed and took care of all the paperwork. This while he was merely finishing a project on his own time. And I can't tell you the 100's of hours spent talking shop with these folks, stamps, runs, what's new etc...

Point is try going somewhere outside of out sport and getting a fraction of the service ALL of these companies provide. You'll soon learn how to deal with disappointment.

We are blessed that the sport is at a size where we still have access to the information and service that we get.

I can say from experience that Vicky(spelled right?), and sam both at innova are super to work with. Also Erich at discraft has spoken with me at length about all kinds of topics. I haven't had the pleasure of working with gateway but i really, reallly like the way they promote for ams. It's the best way for good growth. Sorry, way off topic.

In my experience, Gateway has been a step ahead of the game. Not bashing the other companies by any means because like you said, all the DG companies have good service and much better than almost anything outside the DG world. Gateway is probably better jsut because they are smaller and more flexible than the larger companies.

I didn't mean to bash any companies, unlike FROLFER or whatever he is calling himself this hour.

Well that is my tournament setup, I have a seperate bag of discs that I use on my home course, a mish mash of 8 rocs, TL's and an Orc.

But the DX discs, with execption of the putters and cobra are "rain" discs. I will subsitute them in my bag if there is an outstanding chance of rain at a tournament. In a tournament I carry ~25 discs. I normally only throw Champion/Z plastic. What is interesting is the three bottles of water that I carry when I play that makes my bag heavy and not the discs.

37 discs??? wow, I carry (what i thought to be a lot) 17, and I really don't need all of them...

Whats your take on the differance between the monster and CE firechicken.Im thinking of switching from my monster that feels like a big piece of lead to the firebird that feels normal.I know their both overstable pigs

Basically the difference I feel and notice. Is that the firebird feels more like a beast/orc etc. The monster has a really shallow rim. Also the Monster is very overstable. And starts to hyzer from the beginning of the flight. The firebird can be kept flatter longer.

So I use the Firebird for long headwind drives, and the monster for long hard left turns.

The Monster actually seems to be quite a bit more overstable, it also does start hyzering before a firebird would, not as quickly as a whippet though. You'll probably be able to keep the Firebird flat and straight for longer than you could the monster. the firebird though, isn't quite as good as the monster into a headwind...

ive got 175 Champ firebird and a 175 champ monster, and i find i can keep the firebird straighter longer by ohh 100' before it hyzers out unlike my monster which starts to hyzer about 200' into the throw

I've found the total opposite. I can't keep the CE FX's that I throw turned over, but I can anhyzer a Monster the whole way. The FX seems to have more high speed turn resistance.
