I will be in the Mesa area on Dec 24th to the 29th does anyone have any advice on what courses to play, disc stores, or any mini tournements that will be going on in this time frame.
I got plane tickets to Phx and I'll be staying right by Hohokam park in March. I see that there is 3 or 4 courses nearby., Which would be the best and closest.
I just got back from a round during lunch, its 30 degrees here with 20 mph winds can't wait for March

I've always liked VDC in Scotsdale, which is right next to Mesa. Fountain Hills is another, but a bit further and wasn't marked well last time I was there. Buffalo Ridge is a fun desert / mountain course.

Vista in Scottsdale is a great course. I really like the layout they used for the 04 Memorial. I like the fact that you have to throw over water alot if you want to run for the 2s. Cant wait to go back and play it again this year :D
Emerald Park in Mesa, is the closest. It's a 9-holer but plays backwards also for 18. Not many trees, but some elevation. I think there are signs on most of the tees, so you should be able to find your way around.
I don't think Fountain Hills is playable (park renovation that has been dragging on for years). And even if it is, it's not well marked so you need to find a local to show you the course.
Vista in Scottsdale is where all the action is, and there's a store in the strip mall by hole 12. Tons of casual players, cement tees, fun course, great scenery when the weather is nice.
Here's the list of regular events. I'm not sure how accurate it is, I'd call the course contact before driving out (especially Buffalo Ridge & Conocido as those are a good drive from Mesa):
Monday 4:30pm Conocido Blind Draw Doubles ($5)
Wednesday 4:30pm Conocido Handicap ($5)
Wednesday 4:30pm Emerald Handicap
Thursday 5:00pm Vista Handicap
Saturday 2:00pm Moeur Doubles (Papago)
Sunday 8:00am Vista Doubles
Sunday 9:00am Buffalo Ridge Doubles

Is the map at the link below accurate?
