Longest tournament ace (non-PDGA Sanctioned): 726 feet by Brent Bell, #18 Blue, Diamond X - Big Sky State Games, July 20, 2002 (Shane Acedo, Mel Matson, Brian Bjortomt. Chuck Sweeney, witnesses)

Longest tournament ace (PDGA Sanctioned): 580ft by Cory Justice, Hole #27 DeLaveaga, 2000 Masters Cup

Longest World Championship Ace: 402' by Shawn Sinclair, #9 Genessee Park, 1999

Non-tournament: 580ft by Danny McInnis, Hole #27 DeLaveaga DGC, practice for Masters Cup 93 (Tim Selinske, witness); Conrad Damon (Dave Welty, witness) Dave Haning.

Can't rightly say, seein' as I'm not Brent Bell and I've never been to Big Sky Country. :DBut according to the description on the course website (http://www.airfairways.com/brent_bell.htm), its a 185' "decent" from the tee to the basket. (Sorta makes you wonder how many indecents that is. :D).

What I want to know is, Was he in the ace pool? :D

BTW, watch that last step off the end of the teepad!

i know hole number 9 at V.A barrie has been aced by Marty Peters.

for those who dont know its 513 to short throwing off about the same size hill as that one 726 foot ace, its easy to get it their though thats what makes a long ace on a hole like that possible. i can throw over 600' when throwing off the hill, yet only throw 400 on flat ground

My longest ace is a 360' downhill anhyzer on #14 @ Hayo-went-ha in northern Michigan. This was on a spider basket, and made the dumbest noise as it went in. Sounded like the disc struck a dead animal.....regardless, it was a sweet ace. Used a beat buzz.

Being a Diamond X local I can't help but point out that, the 18th hole in those pictures is not the 18th hole that was aced. There are 2 sets of back nines and it was from the other (longer) hole that the ace was made. You can see where this teebox is in the first image. It is left and up of the yellow arrow where the trees are cleared out a bit. The Pic in my post is from the teebox looking down to the hole. If you look close you can barely see the yellow basket. Diamond X is an amazing course.

I know this stat is taken from Hosfeld's records page, but it is incorrect. Tom Woods aced hole #1 (right at 500') at the Toboggan course during the 2000 worlds. It is even listed in the DGWN coverage of that year's worlds. I sent Hos a message, but clearly the page does not get updated very often.

Marcy Roberts aced #11 at Mackensie in Lubbock...very sweet hole, basket is surrounded by water on a penisula...Only ace ever on that hole...

Robert Habert III aced a hole in Abilene that was over 450...I think it was #1, played from the temp long tees. This was just a sic ace- the tee box is not elevated. I did not see him throw it, but I saw it hit the basket...

Nope, on both counts. Ken Jarvis pushed the record to 247m (810') at Big D in the Desert IV (April 26, 2002), only to have that broken 45 min. later by Christian Sandstrom (250m/ 820').

I think I hit one over 400 feet...#6 at BB Owens in Dallas, TX. It's close to 400 but slightly downhill. But I threw a candy Leopard that I had found for the first time ever to see how it flew and it S'd just a little bit and stuck right in the basket. It was an old Mach 2 too! It kinda sucked because no one was around since it was early in the a.m. Almost didn't even feel like an ace, but first shot ever with the disc! Too bad it hasn't done anything since.

I hit a 429' Ace in a PDGA tourney last year in Toccoa, Ga.

Of course it was a downhill shot into a open field so it probably only played like 350', but hey an Ace is an Ace....Right??

Cool thing about it is that you could see the disc the whole time and it was the CTP for my division.

From the Toccoa record newspaper:
The event was held this past Saturday August 28th and Sunday August 29th AT THE BEAUTIFUL ROSELANE DISC GOLF COURSE. 110 participants were attending the 3rd Annual event with men and women world class athletes from all across the country ranging from ages 12-65.
THERE WERE 3 HOLE IN ONE’S SCORED. MIKE DAMMES OF DALLAS, GA. HIT THE SIGNATURE 429’ PAR 3 #7.
MARK DUNN OF AUBURN GA. HIT THE 218’ HOLE #15 AND DAVID HAMMANTREE OF MARIETTA GA. HIT THE 196’ INFAMOUS ISLAND HOLE.
THE TOURNAMENT WENT OVER EXTREMELY WELL WITH PHIL ARTHUR OF KENNESAW, GA. TAKING 1ST. PLACE IN THE OPEN PRO DIVISION SETTING 2 COURSE RECORDS ON HIS WAY TO AN EASY VICTORY.
IN THE PRO MASTERS DIVISION, JOHN NISEWONDER OF TOCCOA HELD A SLIM LEAD AFTER 2 ROUNDS. THEN HE WAS PASSED BY JIM CORDER OF ELBERTON, GA. IN THE 3RD ROUND, THEY WENT BACK & FORTH ON THE 4TH ROUND WITH JOHN NISEWONDER FINALLY COMING BACK TO WIN BY 3 STROKES IN THE FINAL ROUND. 1ST PLACE PRIZE MONEY FOR THE OPEN DIVISION WAS $410.

Three men hit a hole in one David Hammondtree of Marietta, Ga. - Mike Dammes of Dallas, Ga. and

It might depend on how one defines "closest," and whether CTP means "closest to the pin" or "closest to the pole," because a disc that comes to rest touching the pole outside the basket could be considered closer to the pole than a wedgie ace.

Gotta brag on my son. His first ace ever was a scant 300 footer. But he did throw a soft Aviar putter. And it was during Worlds. And it was the CTP hole.

And the Worlds video crew had the camera set up behind the basket.

And I had just reached his group after finishing my round at another course, so I got to see it. :)

You can see it, too. It's on the video for PAW2000. I think the video opens with it. (Later on they make it seem like it was somebody else's ace. They interview a guy who is talking about get two aces while there, and then they show the clip of Ryan's ace again.)

Yes, both were underneath the basket...and the first time it was so dark you could barely make out the basket before throwing.

Dec 16 2004, 03:09 PM
I had a chain ringer on Hole #8 at UAH in Huntsville Alabama during the Lance Armstrong Fundraiser Midnight doubles round. They had battery operated road flares in each basket. It was a 340ft flex shot with my tee bird, I barely saw it in the street light start to fade back where the basket was and I said "That looks like it is going to go..." CRASH!! But we could not see it, only untill I got up to the pin did I see the disc upside down on the ground behind the basket. It was the most disapointing birdie ever.

That was the 7th out of 8 times I have hit chains/basket, no aces so far.

And given your screenname... how many of those did you two putt for par?

Funny you say that, recently in a local tournament I finished 6th, only 9 strokes from the lead. However I missed a good 15 ten foot putts in the two rounds. Not to mention it was really windy but my putting was WAY off. It amazed the people in my group how I could drive a 400ft hole, land it within 20 feet of the basket and not sink the putt. It was probably the most miserable putting day of my life.

Also, the reason for my signature. I can get it within 30 feet of most holes under 450ft. However I cannot putt out to save my a*#. A couple of regulars at my home course said that to me after I missed a 25ft birdie putt on a 315ft uphill hole. And as for doubles, between my partner and I, I drive the holes and he putts out. Its a good deal.

Luckily my approach game is pretty good, if I am in trouble I can usually get out most times I can put it close enough to save a three.

Apparently your only claim to fame is that you can throw far, but Mike can throw farther than you, so he has you beat in the best part of your game. The old guys from Texas could have their smack talk section, the NC guys theirs, and Pimp could have his. That way there wouldn't be any confusion on whether the thread was talking about 400'+ aces, or if Pimp could ace a 500' uphill hole.

DVINCENT onlt needs 426 foot distance to ace a 426 foot hole. I didn't see the ace, but I did a disc sitting in head-banger position that was almost a second ace on that pin. It helixed perfectly, I was told, and just dropped out of the sky at the pin.

That's an ace that is a good shot: Either a 1 or a drop in 2. :)

Very cool ace Dave. That is one position at Morley Field I have not aced. I have hit the flag with a DX Valkerie , Hit the side of the basket with a 1.2 Polaris and hit the pole with a Candy Side winder. Kind of strange though. All those disc's were 174grams. I have seen you throw and I would have liked to have been there to congratulate you on a truly remarkable Hole - in - One shot. For those of you who have played this hole , you have to have decent power to get a disc there in the air around trees. That is one hole still on my list to ace someday along with , if this even possible , Hole 16 in the very long position. Over the the wall with turnover and come back Hyzer. Or better yet , just work out with a personal trainer , get super fit , train, train, train ,practice,practice,practice......Throw super monster Hyzer all the way and Ace that bad boy !!!!!!
Until then , I just continue to watch killer drives from those who can produce !!! :D
See ya out there , welding plastic into metal

No one else has ever aced it /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif...And with the storm knocking the tree from 13 onto the pin setting, I don't think we'll have a chance for a long time

Sorry, but i have to post this under this thread also because it was a SWEET shot, by far my best ever. Ok, it wasnt an ace, but it chained out of the basket at WaterWorks in KC, #14, 485', long position. You can look at the hole @ www.playdg.com. (http://www.playdg.com.)

Yup, the position just left of that big tree. It ended up right by the basket. Then i threw a second shot to see if i could get close again and it went OVER the road lol.

Yes, that is a pretty hole. The chain out disc was a 172 ProLine Beast, the second was a new ProLine Orc, also 172. Both shots were line drive flex shots. Ended up shooting a 4 under with 3 bogeys, hope to make it down there again for the KCWO!

My friend Jimmy West aced hole 20 at Sunset Park for $346 at a weekly doubles event. 407 feet with an O.B. gulley right in front of the basket. Flat ground, if anything slightly uphill. His first ace, Red Quarter K.

It was spur of the moment that he came with me. My other friend flaked, and he stepped up. He would have played Adv. if he knew he was going to go. BIG ARM, if he concentrates a little more on other aspects, he will be a force.

Yeah Marc can crush but this hole doesn't play that long. I've neary aced it and I've over shot it several times. I have a few friends that only throw max D around 380, that park it. And by the way when Marc hit it he threw a monster and it was in the dark. (NO JOKE)

Young gun Chris E. banged the 440' hole 16 at De LaVeaga a couple of weeks ago with a champion TeeBird. As far as anyone knows it's the only ace on that hole in the courses long history.

Okay, here is such an incredible bunch of BS that I'm still counting it!

Here's the hole, #10 at Kewaunee Winter Park. 436', 100' elevation drop. Pics from just in front of the tee and from below.

I threw a long drawn anhyzer along the left tree line with my BLOWFLY (that's right, I said it). I used to have a grade stake out the top of the basket pole. The blowfly keeps cutting in at the basket, hits and breaks the grade stake, and sits on top of the Discatcher. To me, that's all ace baby. You know, when your disc is in a bush 4 feet off the ground, you bring it directly down below where it hung - well, on the way directly below the top of the basket, I happened to catch the chains and the basket. Seems justifible to me. If I boulder were directly below the bush you landed in, you'd put your disc on that rock, not under it. If wedging a disc in the outside of the basket counts, the top should definitely count too, it's more difficult to make it stick there! Time for a rule change!

I suppose you could argue that my grade stake was a foreign object, not part of the basket, and unfairly contributed. But if you skip off a rock into the basket it still counts. What does the PDGA say about banging off a number plate, or those new wind speed flags, and into the basket?

Nah, I'm still counting it, shamefully though, and with caviot. When the PDGA finally decides to change the stupid rule, then I'll feel righteous.

500' is the tee sign distance on that hole too. And that distance probably is rolled along the ground which slopes down off the tee box. Granted the Tee-to-Pin elevation change is near zero, I think the actual distance is closer to 450'. It is a huck, and with the elevation slope a righthanded thrower has the disadvantage of landing with that lake to the left.

A spotter at '06 Am Worlds said I went right over the basket (by less then a 12 inches) off my tee shot on hole #16 at Haikey Creek Park. It is a 458ft flat tunnel shot with a very slight s-curve to the fairway. Fairway is approximately 50ft wide. I banged chains on a 412' hole at my original home course.

Now where I live there isn't a 400'+ hole for at least 2 hours.

First hole I played of the first Oregon series tournament this year was the 403' #11 at Tom Pearce.
Dave Munk from Solomon added a free pair of shoes to the ace pot.
I step up and throw my first warm-up shot into the basket. Champion Eagle on a hyzer.
If I had only waited five more minutes! (and/or duplicated the ace throw when it counted in round...)

What's your longest tourney ace? I hit one about 330' in a tourney a couple of years ago.

On Saturday in the Iron Lion Open at Eastern Avenue Park (Davenport, IA), I saw Nikko put a drive some 452 or 453 feet into the basket for an ace. It was a completely flat shot, which made it even more impressive. Best ace I have ever seen.
