Well some of you may have been following the saga of the flooding in South Texas. The Victoria course has been under water for MANY days now and there is significant damage to the park. We are not talking about just the lower holes flooding, the ENTIRE course flooded.

We were going to move to Gonzales but there are several holes under water there as well. Most of the pre-registrations we have are from Austin and San Antonio and Corpus would be too far for those folks to make it more than likely on such short notice.

Sooooo. We are now moving the event to WIMBERLEY! For those of you who have never played this world class facility, now is the time to come check it out. Hese are two beautiful, challenging and fair courses that complement each other VERY well. You can check out some basic information here: http://circularproductions.com/circle_r.phtml

Wimberley is about 170 miles from Houston and free camping is available on both nights. There will be an additional $5 ranch fee (I will personally cover this for anyone who feels slighted). At this point we just want to have a place to play, and what a great place Circle R is! A huge thank you goes out to Mr. Houck and staff for helping us make this happen!

To the wonderful folks in Corpus who campaigned for the move to be to there, I promise to run an event there soon. I think people need a little warning to make it down there though. :)

So please plan on joining us at the Wimberley Gulf Coast Championship Series event this weekend, December 4th. All AMS will receive a players pack (PDGA B-tier) and Pro remains a PDGA C-tier. We will take signups until 9:00 sharp, and Im not sure if my cell phone works out there, so please leave in enough time to get there.

For anyone who can signed up early and cannot make it to Wimberley, you can get a full refund through titledisc. Ben can be contacted at ben@titledisc.com. Please copy me on the email so I will take you off of the pre-registration list uncdrummer@hotmail.com

Over 115% payout in the Amateur divisions

Wimberley is a great course, but a little disappointed it didnt stay more south.
Team Disaster- you need to do a date here in CC, we are always ready! The thoughts behind VIctoria were not only to get golfers in the southern part of the state involved, but to also get some of those Houston/SA/Austin golfers to broaden their horizons by coming here to play, right? THat is why I was hoping for something close to the original site, Victoria. THere are always plenty of tournaments in Austin/Houston.
Now I am looking at the remaining dates in the GCCS series and uncertain as to whether I can make any other dates.
Oh well, my opinion. Sure no one else cares................

76.2 miles. Only 29 miles as a the crow flies. Unfortunately, that crow doesn't need a bridge to get across Lake Travis.

Best route is to take 1431 to Marble Falls, then south on 281 (through Blanco) and then left (East) on 165 to the Ranch.

Oh well, my opinion. Sure no one else cares................

Sorry to hear that I knew when we got rained out at Victoria that there would be no place that would really fit the bill as a replacement and make everyone happy besides maybe Gonzales (also flooded).

Yes, the idea when the ten event schedule together was to make a Round Rock to Victoria swing so players along that area could hit three great courses and qualify for all the bonus booty at the finale in April. Then you could play the series and come to Houston once, maybe twice The stretch from the Golden Triangle through Houston to Austin and down to Corpus area was our attempt at trying to unite this area for a little traveling competition. Dont be too sad though Corpus, I did promise to come down yalls way, and I dont break those very often. I imagine we will try to find a dryer date for Victoria next series as well. As long as the staff is having fun and the players are having fun it is all good

Come up and join the party this weekend if you can make it happen!

I emailed local course reps, had it changed on titledisc.comm. and the teamdisaster.com page, a notice put on the hfds.org page, notes on all the message boards, notes at Victoria and on the Victoria Parks Department web page and notes via email through the Team Disaster list, HFDS list and Austin area list.

What a fantastic day for disc golf. Not a drop of rain. Temperatures around 65 degrees all day. Just a light breeze. Even up on top of the hill course.

If you stayed home because you thought you might melt in the rain, you missed out on some great golf.

Thanks to the Cirlce R staff; the course looked amazing.

Not sure of all the scores, but Justin Landers wins Open (I know James Mcain, Smoking Joe, Alex Hughes, Steve Hemmeline, and C Ware all cashed).

The Kid wins Advanced by a mere 9 strokes. He would have taken 2nd in Mens Open. I'm not sure if Vinnie took him up on that bet or not. Chris Rogers takes 2nd in Advanced.

Jake Sisson and myself tied for 1st place in Advanced, but because of a scoring error (added up scores incorrectly) I ended up in first place alone. I really hate to win my first every tournament that way...but at least Jake took home the $325 ace pot (#15 on the Hill Course).

Edit wins Advanced Womens, coming back to beat D Edwards on the last hole.

Mcgregor and Round Rock are next. Don't miss these.

Dec 05 2004, 12:27 AM

Thanks Gimp, Cong, and Fat Boy! I had a great time. The weather was great for golf and the courses looked wonderful (as they always do out at Circle R).

I'm sorry for Victoria and those nearby that it had to be moved, but I'm glad it came so close to home. :D

Good luck with the rest of the tour! Maybe I'll be able to make one of the January stops.

Hey Gimp when the stop hits the ROCK are you going to be using Rivery and the ROCK or maybe add some holes to the ROCK? Let me know if you need any help with anything.

vinnie
Dec 13 2004, 10:46 AM
huh?
rivery?
huh?
that does need to be clear, cause the rock is one thing and the rivery another.
I am going to have a hard time using rivery for the double tournament.

wuz up? Sorry I couldn't make it to Wimberly. Low on funds and no ride. We took our local mini to Gonzales and had a great day of golf anyway!! Wish I couldv'e been there to give some competition to Robbie,Frost, Jake etc... but there will be another time for that.Congrats to Robbie on the win and Jake for the ACE..SWEET..Well, our park here in Victoria is back to normal except for a little mud. No sustained damage from the flood(all baskets, tee boxes etc..)are all good.
Peace, and come play Victoria sometime!!!! :D

Dec 13 2004, 06:15 PM
Chris,

Sorry I did not see your post earlier or I would have reponded. I was asked on this thread how much the entry fees where. I posted and them realized that while I had been asked on this thread I should not have posted here. If you would take the time to read the whole thread you would have seen I was only reponding. Sorry to have forced your undergarments to bunch in an uncomfortable manner.
