I have a friend heading to Longview, Texas for Turkey day and he mentioned there was a course out there. It isn't listed on the PDGA directory yet, but we did find a map and the hole lengths on the cities homepage.

Holes appear to be very short. Has anyone played this course? Is it worth stopping in to play?

Teepads? Type of Baskets? ect.

Hey, I've played it. The holes are short but it's a beauiful course. Some of the holes are a little longer. There are a few holes that are technical, with low hanging live oak trees, water and sidewalk OB's. It's a brand new course that the city has put in as a first attempt to get a course there. I don't think that it would be a waste of your friends time to go play the Longview course. Any golf would be better than nothing! I would like to get back there soon to play it again.
Which friend is it that's coming to Longview? That's just right down the road from Tyler (about 35min). Maybe if they have time they can make the drive.

Oh..as for tee-pads its all grass as this is a brand new EAST TEXAS course. The baskets are good ones, I'm not 100% sure of what they are, but I know they didn't **** me off. Know what I mean?

By the way, if your friend happens to see anyone out at the Longview course, have them say that they're from Dallas and that they came to try the course out. It would be good for the city of Longview to see that people are willing to travel to play. The Tyler and Longview clubs support each other 100% in case you can't tell. :D

Thanks gang...I knew someone had to have played it...I think Billy (non-tourney player so you probably don't know him)..is going past there onto Shreveport for their 24hr course and then back to Longview for Turkey and Golfing...

I just wanted to let him know what was there and if it was worth it...sounds like another course to put on my list, though the distances are not extreme

Where is it in Longview? I have family 30 min. from there and plan on playing Nac,Tyler, and Ford park in Shreveport this week. What time and date is the Tyler mini?

The address of the park is 308 Tupelo I believe. Here is a link with a course map, hole lengths and it also has all their parks listed with addresses

Longview, Texas (http://www.ci.longview.tx.us/index.html)

Just type in Disc golf on the search and it will bring it up. Their site seems to be having some server problems currently

Joe,
The mini's are Saturday 10:00 & 2:00 and Sunday at 2:00 at Lindsey park in Tyler. We're having work days this weekend so I'm not sure about the mini's. More than likely there'll be something. Have a safe fun weekend.

I played a few rounds last weekend. It's just the kind of course you would expect for a "first one in town" It's what that area needs for beginners. Natural tee boxes and some of the cleanest baskets I've ever seen. That doesn't mean if your advanced you need to stay away just leave the ultra long drivers at home. Thanks to the city of Longview for putting the course in.
