Hey guys. I was just curious. I don't just go out and try to get aces, I have just been lucky. I was just wondering how many aces you have gotten and how much experience you have playing. Me, I have gotten 8 aces in a little over a year of playing. Just curious.
i got 3 aces in under a year of playing and two fairway aces.

Somewhere around 100 (stopped counting) & 25+ years' experience. Played many years on a short course.
Played for a little over 2 years and have about 15 since this January I think. I don't remember how many I had before that...probably about 10. I basically stopped counting after 10! They lose their spark really fast.
Aces have nothing to do with skill. All you have to do is be able to reach the basket off the tee. Once you can do that, the aces start coming. It's really no big deal.

20 Aces, 20 years playing. Most were over 300 ft. Two in one day at Hudson mills.
no aces after playing for a little over 3 years.
what's a fairway ace?
when you make it from a long ways out but its happens to be your approach instead of your tee shot. i've hit 4 aces ( 3 casual rounds, 1 tournament) in just over 3 years playing.
I have been playing for about four years and just 1 ace so far. And if that is all I get for the rest of my life, that will be just fine with me. It is great getting an ace and I hope to get more, but it is all luck. /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

7 aces over 6 years of playin. gotten one every year, but then an extra one. my first ace ever was on 4/20 (yeaYEAH!)
i think they are over rated. the only time i would ever play for an ace would be in a tournament that i am playin like shiot and if no ones hit the ace pool yet.
I have one or two fairway aces then...yay

I have been playing around 6 years and have had 4 Aces. None of them have been tournament aces, but ones was playing skins with about 10 people and it was a blind tomahawk ace.
I have been playing for a little over a year now and I have no aces under my belt. I have made a few fairway hole outs, but not sure if it was far enough to call it a fairway ace (nicest one was about 180 up and over a hill, from behind a tree, playing an anhyzer to a hidden basket). I think it is true that aces aren't about skill, because if you miss the chains you could be left with a good 50 foot comeback putt on some holes. Under the basket drives would probably have to be considered the most skillful shots performed which I have gotten one to have part of the flight plate directly under the basket. But for those of you (you know who you are) who say aces are no big deal... I bet you weren't saying that before you got one or when that first one slammed the chains. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

1 yr playing and 2 aces.
248' blind dog-leg left which required as much skill as it did luck. 6/5/04
200' straight away hole just need to avoid 1 or 2 trees just to the right of the hole. Not as much skill on this one. I am proud of the fact I got this one in league and while playing with the local club president for the first time. $32. 8/31/04.
I think a big factor in getting aces is how long of a course you are playing on. My home course is short. It probably has 5 or 6 holes that a rec. player like me can ace. I've played other courses where there may have been just 1 hole that is short enough. More chances = more aces.

9 years, 3 aces - never one for money.
The Tiki course is part of the Disc Golf Complex known as "The Grange" in Spotsylvania Co., VA. Owned and maintained by Mike Trepasso.
The kids love the tiki course.
I have been playing since late 2000 when I was just 14. It took me about a year to record my 1st ace, and I have recorded 10 total lifetime aces. My last was 2 weeks ago. These are all REAL aces on my 1st shot during a round. No second shot BS.
I also par'd the Monster hole 1038' during doubles league Hudson Mills my 3rd shot went in from just right of the velcro tree 330' :D :D
That's an eagle. Anyone who thinks that hole is a par-3 doesn't understand the concept of par.
lol, hmm, i dunno, 3 shots for only 1038ft!!...we'll give you a birdie for that, get it in 2 and you've got yourself an eagle : )

I've been playing 6 years. Just started playing competitively a year ago. I didn't get my first ace until a year ago, since then I've gotten 13. 3 in tournaments, the rest casual. Ace's happen, they come in spurts. Be happy to have aced within your first year. I guess I didn't ace until so late cause I learned to play on 400'+ holes. Your number of aces doesn't really have to do with experience. I hit 9 my first year of playing! Aces are pretty much luck. All you have to do is be able to reach the basket on a drive. Then just get lucky. It's just like hitting a tree. Except it counts.

roller ace...how did that happen?
Like so many aces - lucky bad shot :)
Hole 1 at Seneca - short to short - about 240' - requires a L to R with most of the R fade at the very end (basket is well protected). Turned my shot over way to fast - and when I let it go I figured it would land on edge and roll down the hill and into the woods. Well it landed on edge all right, took one hop and then up and into the chains - crazy - but hey the one rule that's the same for everybody is "in the basket is good!!"
Been playing for 2 and a half years.4 aces, plus a bunch of blow-thru's.
I would like to start out by saying "Happy New Year"...First round of new year @ Vista -- 2 aces-----same round .Holes #2 & #10----That makes #29 & #30 in 3 years..

Ive been playing about 8 years but only the past 4 really consistantly. It took about 6 years for the first ace which finally happened in Feb 2003. Over a year until the next one (3/04) and then I hit several more in 2004. It wasn't until August of the past year I had someone witness one but I hit three in a week (with the same KC Roc) and they all were witnessed. Overall,,,I have 6 real aces (1st shots) and three of those are unwitnessed except by forest animals. I have four 2nd shot aces but only one was witnessed, All my REAL aces have been with Rocs (3 different ones) and then I have a couple of forhand aces with a speed demon and a Z-talon. So far...no aces for cash but a few pretty exciting chain-smashing birdies in tourney and ace pool rounds.
My favorite ace was hole 17 in Montrose, CO last August. It's 297ft with a huge hyzer shot over some trees or a narrow slot down the middle. The people I was playing with were talking about "pretty hyzer shots looked", on that hole. I stepped up and threw it down the middle and the moment I let go said, "No...that's pretty". Banged chains and stuck for a sweet memory.

My last ace was this past New Years eve. We were playing with several people, and one other guy, and myself were tied for the lead. It was his box, and he threw a hyzer shot for an ace. After the excitement died down, it was my turn to throw. Lo and behold, I skipped in an ace, right on top of my buddies, to remain tied. This was on hole #17. I ended up making a putt on #18, to win it. Back to back aces to end the year 2004. Right on !

Aces are cool ,when you get them.
None so far this year. Been trying though , to hit some metal on my drives for fun.
Played Frisbee Bike tag game in 71. Was 11.
Started playing in 73 for fun at trees and telephone poles.
First Ace was in August 73. Whamo disc. 165gram.
Lots of Hyzer ( Didn't know until later years what Hyzer was)
Hit Telephone pole at 260 feet away. Hooked on Frisbee golf.
First ace on a Pole Hole ( Real Basket ) in 77.
I always thought that getting a hole in one was just about Impossible or just totally lucky.
My first Disc that actually said DISC GOLF on it. Still have it.
Glows in the dark. Night Flier Whamo. 170grams.
First Tournament in 76.
First Pro Tournament in 78.
First Pro National's in 80.
PDGA member in 82.
Now 2005 , some years later with a few aces .
Still hooked on Disc Golf and trying to encourage new players
Old players and used players to still have fun throwing Golf Discs.

Threw a Classic Aviar up the cliff and it Gently faded to the right and hit the right side of the chains and stuck.
I hit the basket on 11-Red at Landis Park(Vineland) on my first throw with a First Run buzzz and Saturday I hit the Basket on a dead straight "Bee line" again with the same disc, but was about 3 inches short of hitting chains.(have had many more near aces, but very cool to hit the basket on the same line with the same disc over a year apart.... First Run Buzzz's rule!)

Since then (last wednesday), i've hit 4 baskets/chains. SOOOOO CLOSE!!

I've hit 4 since fall of 2001...all at Carrol Marty in Ames, Iowa
#3 short to long with a beat up finder SE leopard
#5 short to long with a KC 10x eagle hyzerspike
#6 short to short with a KC 10x eagle tomahawk
#3 short to long again with a CE spider...this was funny though, beacuse it was a doubles round after league one night, and my partner tells me to just put it in as I'm running up on the pad, and of course it drops

3 in 4 year's playing.
#1 6 months into playing, a Wolf at #9 Downers Grove, IL
#2 3 years into playing, an X Buzzz at #4 USF, first witnessed
#3 3 1/2 years. First run Q-Omega at #11 Bradley, during the 2004 Peoria Open. Won fifty bucks, totally blind shot.
15 months playing
13/14 basket hits not counting skips that hit the pole
1 Tournament Ace
That ace was not worth it, it was on the first throw of the tournament, and then on the next hole I went OB (6m rule) to take a double bogey. It was a terrible round, which I heard was the curse of the tournament ace.
I know the curse of the tournament ace, after my only ace in over 5 years i took a double bogey, and then a bogey to finish out the round, luckily it was the last round of the day.

Been in tourney. play for about two years. First ace came last year in a casual round, hyzer skip ace on 300 ft. hole.
After that hit metal at least twenty times, then actually had my first "splash out" about 6 mons ago, that sucks let me tell you. Then a month ago recorded my first cash tourney. ace. This to was a hyzer skip :D
Funny thing about it, It was my last hole of the last round and I was bob so I was the very last to throw. Ended up splitting $265.00 w/ my good buddy I rode in to the tourney w/. He hit his the first round, He told me "man I hope no one else has hit one" on our lunch break. I told him no what you need to worry about is a third person hitting it, unaware that noone else had hit one so far. :o

Tuesday I hit #6 at the Iowa State University course playing short tees and baskets with my girlfriend and a buddy. Pretty short hole and I hit it with a champion rhyno, but at least I won like 40 bucks from it. Another group of us decided first ace of the season was worth 5 bucks, and there was some 51 cash in there too.

Come play in northeast Ohio, and see how many aces you get. In medina last summer there wasnt one weekly scramble ace all summer so noone won the ace fund. By the way the way theres some good pros that play there in case you dont know. Oh, and 2.5 years, no ace! Maybe I should come play on some of the courses you guys with beaucoup aces are talking about. Although it probably wouldn't help, ha ha.

It better be a big cooler....
Started messing around with discs almost exactly a year ago, didn't make a commitment to get better or be able to compete at tournaments until about two or three months ago.
No aces, but last weekend I banged one off of the front of the basket (260' anhyzer shot, it kicked butt) and then missed one by less than a foot. I'm getting closer...
I've been playing a little over a year. 2 aces for me - both forehand shots. I have had about a dozen or so shots hit basket/chains though..
I spent two years playing disc golf without an ace. I must have had at least fifty incidents where my disc would either land in the basket and rebound out or it would get tousled in the chains and subsequently fall to the ground, but it would NEVER come to rest inside. Finally, while I was on the course playing a round at roughly 7:30 in the morning, I attained my first true ace. Of course, at that hour, nobody was around to witness this magnificent event.
Been playing 9 months, got my first ace last night during a doubles match. Bagged me an ace pool on my first ace :D
Update. Ace 37 on 6/14/ 05. Ace 38 on 6/28/05. Ace 39 same day 39 minutes later. Ace 38 caught on video.

2 Aces- 2003 & 2004 Pro Worlds
1.5 years of playing, hit metal ( teasers) and have about 5 field aces, but thats not worth calling an ace.....nice dueces though. In due time im sure ill get my reward for playing this wonderfull game of disc golf.
I was losing hope on my ever acing until they took all the trees out on one of the local courses. My first throw on the near treeless course hit metal. I had one other near ace run. I guess I just gotta drive down the road a bit. The nearest course (Pocatello) has holes that are pretty hard to ace.
2 Aces- 2003 & 2004 Pro Worlds
Good idea. I'll save my first two aces for consecutive Worlds as well.

Brockster, there is a course (http://www.pdga.com/course/courses_by_city.php?id=1410) in Illinois that is acutally shorter than Vollrath. Neala (the girlfriend) and I hit it up this weekend, and I got three "aces" in less than 30 minutes. If you include the forehand ace I got the night before, that is four aces in under 24 hours. Boo-ya, David Kociuba (http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=402274&Main=402274#Post40 2274), boo ya!

That course in Illinois averages out to 137 ft per hole. That's a short average. I can imagine alot of "aces" being hit there. And that video looked like "The Blair Witch Ace" as a friend of mine said.

That, honestly, might have been the worst disc golf footage I've ever seen. I can't believe I'd ever think any Ace footage was bad, but.... here we are. :) Grats on the Ace though.
All that movement of the camera makes me think of blair witch movie. I dub the, Blair Witch Ace Project.

Wow that was bad. How long was that hole 100 feet? Reminds me of a course we have in Michigan. Auburn Hills Civic Center. I liken it to a putt putt course.

No kidding... That was one of the hardest holes on the course?!
I don't have any aces yet, but if that is the hardest hole on that course, if I played that one alot I may have a whole bunch.

Those shouldn't count as aces, they are nice upshots IMO. An ace should be 250-275+ feet.
