How similar do you think these discs will be?

I have a 150 DX valk, which is very flippy. My 148 DX beast, is pretty stable but can be a little flippy. I've been looking to add something to the bag that's a touch more stable than the beast. So I've got a 150 DX firebird coming in the mail. But, I came across a 150 CE valk, which is red and will be perfect for night golf. I've always found the CE plastic to be much more overstable than it's DX equivalent. So in my way of thinking a 150 CE valk will be much more overstable than a DX valk, and possible even a little more overstable than the dx beast. Am I way off here?

From my understanding, the Beast is the stable version of the Valk. At least in the same plastic, I have found that champ plastic is slightly more stable and stays stable longer then DX. Because it does not get as beat up as easily.

If you are throwing 150 class discs, then to get the same result of a 150g beast, you would need a close to 160g valk.

It is especially the case with the champ firebird vs dx. I have to throw max weight discs, but the max champion firebird is much more overstable then the dx. In the way that the dx will fly farther straighter before the fade starts. I learned the hard way on a hole where there is a tree about 325ft out and to park the basket you need to be about 25ft high and turn just before the tree. Champ firebird does it, DX turns past the tree.

That Firebird may become your new favorite disc - it will be a stable pig until you beat it a bit.

I will agree that a disc in CE plastic is more stable than it's DX counterpart, BUT weight and plastic will not change the basic flight characteristics of the disc.

If you drive with the valk, it will flip/glide right/anhyzer much more than the beast or firebird.. it may get stable at the end, but it will go farther on the anhyzer path before coming back than a beast or firebird thrown at the same angle - regardless of plastic or weight. If you need more stability - look to the firebird and don't just go for a heavier valk. IMO. :D

On a different angle, I am not sure that red is a good color for a disc at night. Red is the first color to turn to gray as light lessens. Red discs are actually hard to find in dim light.

If the CE Valk or DX Firebird don't work for you you could always try a light Orc or Illusion. They're both normally rated as being a step more overstable than a Beast, AFAIK.

Interesting. I use a red LED though for night golf. So I'm thinking that it would light up much nicer, than any colour that is different from the LED colour.

I was thinking about an Orc as well. I'd definitely like to give one a try. I know I've seen them as light as 158. Not sure if they make them any lighter or not.
