I was under the impression the CE Roc's were only produced for the USDGC. However someone I know bought a 2004 World Doubles Roc that has CR on the bottom. Though he didn't pay as much as one from the USDGC, is this actually a CE Roc also? It was advertised as such.
Anyone know how many were produced? Houck????

CR = Classic Roc, available in candy for most tourneys.
Not the same as the CE Roc, which are in fact only for the USDGC.

It is problaby a Champion Classic Roc, I believe the "CR" on the bottom is Classic Roc. The regular Roc usually just has an "R". The Classic Roc is a Great disc too...

Uh.....the "Classic Roc" mold. :)
What is it really, a Hammer with a bead, or an XD with a bead?
What is it really, a Hammer with a bead, or an XD with a bead?
The Classic Roc (disc #8) came before either the Classic Hammer (#9) or Big Hammer (#14), so it's most likely an XD w/a bead.
The Innova mold chronology is Eagle, Aero, Aviar, XD, Apple, Coupe, Mini, classic Roc, Classic Hammer, Ace, Stingray, big Roc, Cobra, big Hammer.

Oops. :o
It's the Rancho Roc mold.
It's the Rancho Roc mold.
However, depending on the year, it may be any one of the three Rancho Roc mold variants (8x, blunt, and not blunt: Davei's nomenclature from the Question for Dave D thread). If memory serves, '01s were not blunt, '02s were blunt, and '03s and '04s were 8x.

IMO the USDGC Rocs are from the same mold as the Super Rocs. Same overall profile, different plastic.

BTW the hammer came out before the original roc. :D
I've been told that the Hammer was a Roc top with a Viper bottom. I saw one this weekend and that is really what it looked like. Just wondering...
What plastic is the Worlds Super Roc made of?
It is definately not KC or DX.
Too Floppy for Champion.
Stiffer and more durable then Pro Line.
Our local distributor thinks it's a blend of Champion and Pro Line. I have had a 180g Super Roc for about 4 months now and it is already starting to turn over when thrown hard and flat. I have two (1 unused), but I was hoping they would stay stable for a bit longer so I could effectively use one for at least a half a year.

You are talking about the 2nd run of the Hammer. The 1st run was the before the roc. The 2nd run was the most unbreakable disc innova ever made.
BTW the hammer came out before the original roc. :D
Matt, according to the chronology posted by Dave Dunipace (you can find it by searching the message board), the Classic Roc came out before the Hammer. Then again, what would he know? After all, he is only the founder and the only disc designer Innova has ever had. :D

But he will tell you himself that he is neither a collector nor an historian. He just keeps trying to make the best freakin' discs possible. :)
Can CE Rocs be used in PDGA competitions? I look at the posted document for technical standards, and it said that it has to "be...available commercially to the public..." (I)(H)(7). Is having the disc avialable through only one commercal outlet which is only on-line (zonedriven.com) with a limited quantity holding true to the spirit of the rule? I can't go to my local store to buy one, and they told me that they can't order one from their distributer. Doesn't sound like this is a "commercially available" disc. Also, isn't there another disc like this, only available to buy at special events, the Star-something?

Starfire.....
I think as long as they produce atleast the lowest specified amount of a particular disc, they should be seen as legal. The do state PDGA approved on them.
Someone correct me if I am off here

CE ROCs are not just available over the internet.
If you support the USDGC by purchasing a partner package, you will get first dibs at the following year's CE ROCs. If you want to get on the list now, just call ZoneDriven.
Some Tournament Directors GIVE away CE ROCS!
This past year at Codorus in Hanover, PA - the local club put on an event called Codorus ROCs where they gave away CE ROCs to division and CTP winners.
CE ROCs ARE available to anyone who want's one.

We had glow CE Rocs in the "every hole CTP" at the SoCal Championships. I didn't have 36 of them, so it was a random draw kind of thing. Glow CE Rocs, CFR TLs, and Starfires.

Many discs are not always immediately commercially available. All of the popular ones sell out at some time or other. The CE-Rocs just spend most of the year in a sold-out state. They do produce at least 1500 of the disc and make them commercially available each year. They only had to do that once to meet the PDGA guidelines.

I remember when he hammer came out, I got one from Snapper and it was the most stable driver to date!!
Then the roc came out after and was even more stable, me thinks Dave could be mistaken. :D
Anyone backing up my claim??
Then the roc came out after and was even more stable, me thinks Dave could be mistaken. :D
We're not talking about the Roc, we're talking about the CLASSIC ROC. The Big Roc came after the Classic Hammer but before the Big Hammer.
You are right about the Classic Hammer being more overstable than anything that preceded it, and the Big Roc being more overstable than the CH. But the Classic Roc still came before the Classic Hammer. :)

That's what this must of been, cause it was some hard stuff! Heavy too!

That's what I meant, of course when the "classic " roc first came out it was called a roc. :D
