When I first began playing disc golf this summer, I had a very limited choice of discs. There is only one store around me and they have a horrible selection. So I looked thru them with little to no knowledge of flight paths, etc.. and settled on a dark purple Valkyrie (173g). Being my first and only disc for a month or so, it got beat up pretty quickly. I now have about 10 discs and this beat up Valkyrie is still my favorite. I've spent hours looking for it in piles of leaves and woods. I've thrown it into rivers, only to retrieve it with a stick. This disc is just as loyal to me as I am to it. If it makes it thru my first full season, I will have no choice but to retire it. Anybody else have any discs like this?
I've lost (well, thought I lost) and found the same disc (TeeBird 175g) 3 different times. Once there was a span of about a month in between when I lost it and then found it. I couldn't lose this disc if I tried. I use it on any hole where I'm not quite sure what to throw.

Aviar Forever !!!! ;)
I had the opposite happen to me. When the Z-XL came out several years ago, I won one. I loved the way the disc looked, nice and clear blue, it was awesome. But I could not throw it. I carried it in my bag and tried to learn it, but could not get the hang of it. I accidentally threw it in a river twice, and both times it was returned to me. Finally I threw it in a lake (not on purpose, of course), never to be seen again. I was kinda glad when I could just get back to what I knew how to throw, rather than what everyone else was throwin. :)

Throw what you know homie.
I always say if it aint broke dont fix it :D
I had not been playing for very long when the first Z discs came out. I thought they were just about the coolest things I had ever seen, so I bought a yellow Z-XS that I just loved. It was my workhorse driver for quite a while, but I managed to hit a tree and have it roll into a pond at a little course in Provo, Utah, where I was playing while on vacation. I tried and tried to fish it out, but I had to give up and abandon my favorite disc. Never bought another Z-XS.
But I did recently buy a yellow Z-Flash, which has quickly become my favorite driver. Unfortunately, this past Saturday it was run over by a car, seemingly deliberately, and appears to be slightly warped. If this disc is hosed, though, I will buy another one.

I had (still have but can't throw) a Viper that look like it has been through hell and back. It's hit street, been run over by cars, has a big gash on one side where it stuck to one of those t-shaped bars they use to stake up new trees. The worst hit it took (and flew better after this incedent by the way) was when it got run over by a bull dozer at McClure park in Tulsa when they were working on the water retention area. That was fairly early in it's life and for some reason made it a SWEET disc.
After a long hiatus from disc golf the TD at the first mini I played told me I couldn't use it in competition anymore :(

Give me my rocs. San Marinos for turn overs, 8X or Protos for straight shots and my 01 CE Rocs for Hyzers.
JLS
have 2 (168 and 174)
they were the first two drivers i had
tomahawk, roller, hyzer, anhyzer, straight, forehand, backhand
love em'
Champ Shark is my flavor of the month, waaaaayyyy better than that flippy 05 Roc. :oOh yeah, cant forget the big bead Aviar that Carlton told me about. Thx Carlton cya in Raleigh
Z Buzzz, I've had it for about 6 out of the 8 months I have been playing. Its beat enough to turn over, a perfect disc for woods.
Champ Leopard, another ole reliable disc.
Small bead dx avair, king of all putters.
I never go anywhere without these discs, all overstable and straight discs I can switch between without preference, but the 3 above there are no subsititutes.

I have a Wizard that I owned before I even played. I bought it to play catch with, thinking it was cool b/c it was heavier and smaller than what I was used to.

Not really my favorite, but true story.

definitely my wizard(s); i carry two for putting, one beat/one newish; one for approaches, beat to hell and back, and i have about 6 others that stay at home for practice.

Thats what I was just thinking. Can't wait to throw them...and to let Roc throwers crap their pants when they throw mine. :D
I'm hooked on my Buzzz. I have two DX Valks in my bag one new one beat up, its getting a little too flippy, but I'm going to buy a flash (in Elite Z plasitc) and a Tee-Bird. See which disc stays in the bag? :) I'll always have my valk, I just need something a little more stable now that I'm getting better.
the Buzzz replaced my Roc, and my Ryno replaced my Aviar. But I just scored a DGA Reef, which is supposed to be jsut like a APX, and drop straight. Wierd I thought the Reef was Elite at first... heh, I'll have to look again.

I've putted and short approached with an 86 softie for the past 16 years so I guess it is the disc I'm most loyal to.
For low ceiling finesse rollers I love a dx leopard. When it comes to wooded courses that are even remotely rollable this disc results in more birdie putts than anything else.
For longer approaches and drives up to 320' I'm really loving the D Buzz. Very similiar to a roc but straighter and more forgiving.

Are you kidding me? A wizard dreams of being an aviar and knows better than even thinking it's as good as a ROC! :D
The wizards are ok but for durability, predictability and overall performance DX, SE, KC or CE doesn't matter. Head and shoulders above the wizard.
I know your pimpin your ride man but lets keep it real.
Elite X Comet.
When I first got it, I felt cheated, if I put any angle on my throws whatsoever it would hold that angle until it hit the ground. After hitting a few trees/fences and skidding on some concrete it now comes back just in time, and doesn't glide quite so much forever. When I was struggling and playing so horrible (1 step forward, 10 steps back..) that I wanted to quit the sport, I put away all my discs except this Comet and my XD putter, switched to a fan/pinch grip, and slowly made my way back to respectibility. When I eventually go back to using drivers this disc will still have a place in my bag... well, I don't carry a bag, but I'll hold it in my left hand when not using it. :D

whoa, slow your roll big pimpstar- why you gonna compare a putter to a midrange? unless you were meaning to knock the hustle of the element...which i hope you weren't, cause that element is one bad mother, shut yo mouth! what, i'm just talking about the element. ;)

Unless you get the anorexic one... she is looking a little rough with her entire rib cage protruding from her in all directions, but all and all... good point about the wizard/roc controversy. I like the roc for midrange shots (still haven't gotten any of the elements yet) but my wizards are my go to discs. Brand new or beat to heck they do what I want, when I want. Put that in your pimp pipe and smoke it.

I was just having some fun with Discindeaddud. I think he spends more time on here pimpin his ride than throwin plastic. Either that or he is building one heck of a collection of ground up army men! The pay to be one of Dave's slaves must be pretty good. He has a comment to every thread no matter what it's about and it always comes back to Gateway. My first disc is my favorite a 156 DX shark that I got when I first joined a league. I played with borrowed discs from my uncle before that. I was gonna get an XL( OOOH Tye Dyed) but I was turned in the right direction. My game would be alot differant if I learned on an overstable driver. It was lost in the snow for three months and has been runover by two cars.
