Check out Cedar Lake, IN. It's sort of on the way there and the BEST within your itinerary. Other than that you're probably looking at Lombard which is a spattering of trees in a town park (all grass) which is usually quite breezy. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon though. But defintitely get to Cedar Lake, if you ever play any other Chicago area courses, you'll understand and appreciate why I'm telling you to play there. Enjoy it!

Ill agree with the Cedar Lake replies. Very nice course!
Of course we have a few here in the South Bend area that you may choose to hit either heading into or out of Chicago. Assuming your driving from K-Zoo.
Rum Village in South Bend, George Wilson in Mishawaka, Ferrettie Baugo in Osceola and Ox Bow in Goshen.
