It's a disc golf card game that came in the USDGC players packs. I should put mine on ebay, anyone want it??

Have you played it yet? Makes a nice change of pace for the casual afternoon doubles round. Greatly facilitates talking, uh, sh-mack for those quiet ones among us.

We play it some. It can get kinda stupid sometimes but other times its really funny. It also makes you think. Its just something else to do while playin disc golf. You gotta change it up a little sometimes ya know?

Yup, what Eddie said. A great change up with thinking and strategy and plain luck of the draw being almost as important as disc skill. But the fact that the people with the most skill get to draw more cards and are therefore in line for more chances at good luck still gives skill an edge. Some situations resemble a "push" in skins, others playing "close to the vest" as in poker. On the other hand, swapping lies with someone after they have had an ace run or drawn metal is kind of cool in a :p then :Dkind of way. Some of our guys enjoyed it so much that we'll probably have to limit number of Ript rounds per day. Others, myself among them, just enjoyed the change of pace, a different social/casual aspect of the game that will never take the place of just plain golf any more than "Wolf" or "Skins" will. Enjoy!
Chris, how much do you want for it? Or kin ah make a cheap redneck vahshun of it wif old playin' cards? <- Translates to I'm a college student, we have plenty of cards laying around the apartment, could i make my own version?
Chris, they are selling retail for around $8, but I'm sure if you sign the pack, a golfer of your stature could fetch $8.25-$8.70 easy.
:D
I picked up a pack a couple of weeks ago and have had some awsome rounds! Before we had heard of these, my wife and I had planned a tournament based off of the Survivor series on TV with the same type of shot demands, ect.
Too many people were unsure about the format and did not sign up...the tourney was cancelled. Hopefully with the introduction of this game more people will be willing to throw the serious side of disc golf out the window and have some fun with their friends.
:o
I am also going to be throwing RipT into the mix of formats for Saturday leagues this Winter.
RipT it up!

I ript my shorts on a long straddle putt once. Does that count?
Crazy! This game sounds interesting. So I gather you play this card game within a DG game on the course?
I did a search on ebay for "disc golf ript" but didn't find anything.

You can find these online at Zonedriven and many other online disc golf retailers. We just purchased 2 decks and are taking about a dozen golfers to play it this weekend.

That would be r-i-p-p-e-d. And no.
Jake, catch the Sunday afternoon dubs at 2:00 in Y'ville. The club has some Ript decks for sale, as well as a mind boggling assortment of CFR and DX discs with the soon to be world famous Yadkinville Disc Golf stamp.
BTW, after a semi exhaustive online search for a plastic box capable of holding a single deck of playing cards, I tossed in the towel figuring something had to be out there somewhere. The search was necessitated by soaking my Ript deck, which was not in use at the time, with a beer. Pint ziplocs work sure, but I kept my eyes open for the mythical plastic, single deck box. Found it in an airport gift shop in Barbados. (Ever notice how folks recently back from a killer vacation in the islands take every opportunity to name drop some of the locales to the plebians stuck in the north country? Also how they refer to those places as "the islands" as if they have a very close, personal relationship. Bastards.)

I'll be in Charleston this weekend, but after that, the tourny season is pretty much over for me till Feb. I'll have my weekends free for playing Y'ville. Looking forward to seeing the new additions.
Do you have a Starfire left? If so, could you put my name on it?
Have you looked into a plastic cigarette pack holder, about the same size as a deck of cards. Also try a backpacking store, they have items similar to THIS (http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=ASI%23+43797+-+310A+&btnG=Search+Froogle).

Don't have Y'ville stamp Starfire, but I have a Hickory stamp at I think 172g I could trade/sell. With the Y'ville stamp we have TL's, Glo TL's and Glo EL's, plus DX Rocs and Aviars.
Yup, cig boxes were the first thing I thought of and they are uniformly an eighth inch or more too narrow. The Froogle line boxes look great though if the club (or Innova - Zeb you guys listening) wanted to do a promotional thing. And they would make good cig boxes too. Danke.
Good luck in Charleston. Check out the used book stores for me and tell the winos down on the batt'ry I said hello.
I played the other day ,It was fun as sh t.We played a doubles format and it really was a nice change of pace.I hit an ace on hole 4 and was given a drive again card which would have cancelled my ace ,But we had a cancel any card card.hahahahahahahahaha :D

You bet..the more the merrier....Frank told me all about the RIPT game at the VET on Turkey weekend, so we had to go and buy 2 sets of the game.
Now I just have to remember to put a Midnight Flyer in my bag. Can't wait to see someone try and throw that on #2 at Crowley from up on top of the hill :D

What all kind of cards are there in the deck?
I just got a deck myself, and still don't understand the basics of this game.. maybe I'm an idiot for not being able to understand directions but ...
Can someone elaborate in layman terms on how to play this game? I'm okay with the idea of each player gets 3 cards, and that they can get no more than 7, those who either win holes or CTPs get to pick up another card. My only question is when and how often can one use their cards? I just did a test with a friend he's got three and I've got three, and they have specific instructions as to when I can use the card on the card like After Shot, Before all Tee etc. but do I use it for each hole, what if I never get CTPs or win a hole and run out of 3 cards??
Please help clarify because I'd like to play this game soon, thanks

Yes, it appears that you run out of cards.
The other option is the poker run version where you always keep 5 cards (I think).
okcacehole
Dec 08 2004, 11:54 AM
If you run out of cards you are done...you can only get more with a CTP or an outright win on the hole by yourself.
We just played this in doubles last weekend with about a dozen guys. You can play the card(s) whenever you want, but it must follow what the cards states on the bottom ( i.e. before the drive, before the putt, ect).
It seemed in our game that the majority of the cards were saved until the final hole when about 5 or 6 cards were all played at once on different teams.
Make sure to read the switch scores card fully as you lose all the other cards in your hand and then the group gets to pick the disc you have to drive with. We made our group pay dearly for playing that card!

fwiw, if you go to your basic baseball card/comic shop you should be able to find plastic cases that would fit a deck of cards perfectly (asuming the ript cards are the same size as a normal playing card)
game sounds interesting, will have to find a deck at some point :)

We were able to take away a players ace last weekend. Want to see someone get riled up....play the shoot again card after a hole in 1 :o
They took a 3 the 2nd time!
We did still pay him $5 each for the ace and sign it

Oh yeah....actually he took it pretty well, it was just too fun not to do.
I think he was more upset when we all putted into the trash can on #16, but Troy nailing the long par made up for that.
