hey, i've been throwing this disc side arm since innova introduced it (in ce).
does anybody in here throw this disc? do you like it? carry it?
and do you think that this ce "run" is really limited.
peace
The champion whippet X is and was a limited edition run. They are no longer going to run this mold except for DX and KC Pro plastic.
I do throw a whippet in emergency situations where I am in trouble and need a short sever spike hyzer or a good skip around a tree or bush. I never actually throw it on a drive because the Firebird, Monster, and Flick have completely obsoleted the Whippet as distance driver, and I can throw the Wasp just as far as the Whippet with more predicability.
But it is a disc that I never travel to a tournament without.

Love the DX Whippet. Always one in my bag. When they came out this was the driver of the time.

I just saw a new red Champion 175g Whippet at our local PIAS...
I bought one for the hell of it last Spring...very overstable...duh!
I still prefer a G5i Demon...same flight~path...just a personal preference, IMO.

I throw it alot.I dont even try to throw it for alot of distance.About 270' and in whenever there is a skip or hyser line.I also use it alot in the wind for approach shots and when in short sidearm range.I have had and used mine since the first week they came out and it still shows little sign of use.I think this Whippet is the best.

Whenever in doubt......you can whip it. Do do do do do
see, if i could only carry 5 discs...
the whippet would definately be in my bag. it's probably THE most predicable/shape-able disc in my bag.
the champion WX had me at "hello."
oh wait,...thats jerry mcguire.
you know i mean. that's one very value piece of plastic. i say viva la whippet x and innova should continue the ce run.
..is that kid choking on a...
..oh, it's soap :D
oh man, that's just wrong.
now i have to change my avatar...just so you know that was ralphy from "a christmas story" getting his mouth washed out with soap.

The Demon rules all!! :D:eek:
You don't have to beat a Whippet in, and they don't change much over time. They stay tried and true and very predictable. I like the final run of KCWX's better than the CE's but they do beat up a little bit over time. At least you don't have to put'em in the dryer or beat'em against a wall before you throw'em.

If you're refering to Demons...why would you do that!??
Pre Spirit and Illusion, I'd heard of people doing that to Speed Demons to get distance out of them, but why a Demon??? They are stable pigs that still feel like a regular midrange in your hand. I know Whippetts are solid discs, I just never cared for its XClonesque feel on the edge of the plate. (KC Whippett....don't remember feeling a CE)
"At least you don't have to put'em in the dryer or beat'em against a wall before you throw'em."
Thats a great idea, no heat of course. I have been trying feverishly to get my kc teebird broken in, it is still a bit more overstable then I want it. But I doubt my wife would apprieciate the noise from the discs in the dryer.

discndeadhead-why are you always poaching other threads? this was about the whippet--not a gateway disc
I think Dave pay's him by the post! How many posts = a wizard?
I was talking about the pre illusion/spirit speed demons. They are the only ones I have thrown.

Yeah, see no one does that anymore...that I know of. At least I never have.
And as far as poaching or whatever...I mearly made a friendly comment (Intended towards Chase ;)). Its not like I was totally intending to pirate the thread. Sorry. Back to Whippetts...
...I saw it as just that DDH, no apologies for relevant comparisons needed...just wondering why you guys...those whom want a disc broken in, like, yesterday...use something histrionic like: A mortal blow to solid lumber [or harder][or a couple/few blows], rather than: Throwing a couple score of overhands [almost] straight up, and engineer the collision onto hard turf/dirt?
I'd guess there's not much more than a 0.00% chance, if that, of getting caught on a 802.01(C) [modification of a disc aside from usage during play*][or sanding to smooth marks], but do you deliberately want to get A random, violent alteration [like a fold]['taco'], or: LOTS of random, miniscule alterations? The latter would seem more like seasoning, methinks. The former, injuring, like 'clipping' a bird. Er, having a dog with a thorn in its paw! Yeah, that analogy...woof!
Not to mention, 'my' method, if not only preferable, is at least 100% legal, and is also good for something, if only practice/exercise. Well, perhaps one could find hucking a disc on a truncated flight against a brick wall cathartic...but then there's the chance of feeling TOO much better!
Also: Does this 'taco logic' [not to be confused with Steely Dan's equally brilliant Pretzel Logic] apply more to 'Pigs' than other discs, in general? El Principl Puerco, should that help you remember...
Lemme know what all you Pig Ranchers think of this wonderful advise, so I can go right out and commence doing it, or stop considering the concept altogether. :D
* those of you who DO play in a washing machine, and skipped right to here...you may want to skip the entire post...go lay down.
Whippet back thread...were there C[b]E Whippets? When did they start/stop?

They were Champion, not CE...and they made like 2000 or so. No longer run, but I'm sure somewhere you can find a few.
Not that I'm trying to bust anybody's chops, but...wasn't it strictly CE from late-2000 or so, THEN Champion plastic? I don't think the two ever ran concurrently. And I don't think non-Editional Champion was running, back then. Somebody like Blake T. would know this stuff...
What...are y'all out playing golf, or something?...no replies to my Principl Puerco? I was semi-serious there. Is a hard smack what it takes to brave the wild boar?

I was refering to they made a run of 2000 discs. Not the year 2000.

For Whippet throwers: What color stamps are you seeing out there or do you have? I have seen lots of gold, bronze and silver.I am looking for a max weight with RED stamp.New, never thrown and have other whippets or lots of anything else. The color of the disc itself is really not important.
i have two gold stamps and one silver...i've not seen them stamped in red (not that it hasn't been done)
did you google it?

No. I hadnt thought about it. I have rainbow, gold, silver ,bronze, purple, blue, and green.Ive seen those plus red, magenta, and a deeper blue,I think. The rainbow stamps are really sweet. The most common Ive seen is silver, least common is red and rainbow.I was told the "least common" was a hot pink disc, gold stamp in lighter weights,I think around 168g.
