What is the best course in the Lehigh Valley, PA area? I'm planning on heading that way this weekend for the first time, but I only have a limited time and cannot play them all.

Although technically not in the Lehigh Valley, you can't go wrong with Tinicum Park and Nockamixon State Park.

If you hurry, you can probably get a round in at the temporary Little Lehigh Parkway course in Allentown that will be used for Pro Worlds 2005. The baskets will be removed next week for the winter.

In Bethlehem, South Mountain Park is a shorter course that plays over extreme elevation changes.

You can play the current Scherersville course at Jordan Creek Park, or wait a few weeks and the Pro Worlds 2005 course will be finished.

Have you clicked on the link in my signature to read my Review Page of Disc Golf Courses in the Mid-Atlantic Region? (http://www.geocities.com/the_lung/discgolf.htm)

For those of you who participated in or spectated Pro Worlds 2005 in Allentown, PA you will be happy to know that the stunningly beautiful Little Lehigh Parkway disc golf course is back in the ground for the summer season! This park is the most beautiful in the city, with an old limestone kiln, a covered bridge, a variety of species of trees and a meandering river, the Little Lehigh, which bisects the park and comes into play on many holes. Several holes have a steep wooded hillside running the entire length of one side, and the water hazard running the entire length of the other side. While this course has been shortened a bit for recreational play, it still features SIX pro par four holes mixed in with many deuce runs. The course is similar to last year's Pro Worlds layout with the exception of:

hole#4: shorter polehole position in order to avoid interference with the walkway. No longer a par four.
hole#7 & #8: This par four has been broken into two shorter holes. The former has a longer teepad than last year's recreational layout to make this hole more challenging. The latter has a slightly shorter teepad that makes the hole quite picturesque from the tee, and allows for more deuce opportunities.
hole#9: long polehole position, par four.
Hole#17: plays parallel to hole#15. It shoots downhill and around to the right, towards the tee of the former hole#1
hole#18: this hole replaces the former hole#1.

The course now plays as a pro par 60, with holes 1,6,9,10,11, and 15 being pro par fours. (with holes 1,10, and 11 being the more challenging of the par fours and holes 9,6, and especially hole 15 being easier par four holes)

The true joy of playing this course comes in that nearly the entire course plays fairly wide open and away from the deep rough that can be found at other courses. With pro caliber length, rolling hills, and OB hazards combining to make for a world class challenge, along with beautiful scenery, this is the signature course in the Lehigh Valley and a must-play if you're in the region.

If you are traveling from out of town and and would like to get together for a round, please e-mail me - I would be more than happy to show you the course. Now that daylight savings time is here, I'm usually available for a round most evenings after work (5:30 PM) and anytime on the weekend.

We had a storm roll through the Lehigh Valley this week which caused a tree to fall on a basket at Jordan Creek. The results were quite interesting.

thats the funny part, it does look like it could be all good with a few welds. It seems like the tree just took the top chain assemply and the basket and slid them down the pole the whole way to the ground.

No wonder I stop and look all the time when I am playin DG and hear the trees creeking and swaying all around. I DONT WANT TO END UP LIKE THIS BASKET!!!
