what happens to the cash that a player turns down if they cash and don't accept? i've only had this happen once, and it was a small amount like $30 or so and it was in a tie for the last cash spot, so it basically got donated to the club ... what if it's for a more significant amount?

I believe that it is payed out like the person who denied didnt even play in the tournament. Like if he as in 2nd place and denys then the third place guys gets 2nd place cash and the 4th gets 3rd and 5th gets 4th and so on and so forth till everyone is paid out :D
Im not sure but i think thats how it is supposed to be done.

That is how it's supposed to be done. But it only works if you use envelopes full of cash for payout, or the decliners decline well in advance of the awards ceremoney. If you write checks for the payout and someone doesn't decline until you are trying to hand them their check, then you can't do it "right".
so lets say theres 5 places paid out .. if #2 declines, then the payout would look like this ...
place .... cash
1 1
2 0
3 2
4 3
5 4
6 5

This is covered in our rules I believe.
I think it should probably just go to whoever is last place in am3. ;)

Check with the Am's playing pro before the tournament when they sign in. That way you'll know ahead of time. In my case if you offer to give me cash I won't say no. :D
Last place in Am3 should get the How to Play Disc Golf video.

That doesn't always work, some players will want to wait and see just how much they are going to turn down before they decide.

This very much different than our older sister sport... and in my opinion the source of many of our competitive system challenges...
This is covered in our rules I believe.
yep it is .. the very last statement in 804.08 (F) ... thanks Nick

yeah thats how it works.
Another thing that people may be forgetting is payout gets deeper. If one person denys and you were supposted to pay out 10, then 11th gets paid

How about the notion being bandied about on the MADisc discussion board by a forward thinker where by pro protected payout for first place (Masters) would be no more than last place payout in the Open division
It makes me see red but maybe that's just my over protective self reacting

Forward thinker ?
Don't the Master's age players have the resources to run their own events ?
Basically start their own tour if they don't get the respect they feel they deserve ?
If the younguns behave, they might invite a few to join them.

Hey Gary,
The Open Division is about to lose there biggest advocate in 2 months. Me.
Then, please, no one be surprised to see me turn into the biggest advocate for the Masters Division this side of the Mississippi. Unless I am running a 1 division event, all sponsorship I raise will go directly to the Masters Division (possibly the Womens Division).
The Open Division just better hope that ALL Masters Aged Organizers dont follow suit or there will be no one left to run Open competitions except Innova
Regards,
Nick
