Assuming that Blair Witch traveled at a constant speed when shooting the video and that the video takes the route that was used in measuring the hole length, the distance from the bottom of the hill to the basket is around 250'

I watched almost every thrower during the 2004 Points Bonanza since I was doing videos and photos (and spotting). The best throws made it around the dogleg to the point where you can have a straight shot at the basket (not to the bottom of the hill). From there it is about 320' to the basket. And, that is down a pretty narrow fairway, so it is not a layup as someone earlier suggested.

Nov 08 2004, 03:58 PM
Yes, you are right. I have never played in the area and also stated that I did not know how tall the trees were. The canopy does not look to thick and but the only thing I have to go by is the mpeg. So a toma or anyhting over the trees is outa the question? All I can say is that the course looks sweet! I wish I would have moved to the NC a few years back when I had the chance.

I think it is pretty safe to say that because Michigan is within proximity to Iowa, you had more boyz there. With that said, it isn't looking too good to have a NC VS MI competition in Flagstaff either. With courses as tough and challenging as the ones we have right here in NC, we really don't need to go anywhere else to prove ourselves. I do really wonder what the outcome would be if say you matched up the top ten or twenty advanced people from each state against each other in a team competition. I would think it would be tough to beat North Cackalacky.

Funny you should mention putting the top 10 against the top 10. We put the top 8 against the top 8 and we won by 50 Strokes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So dont say it was because we had more boyz then they did. We did the best 8 against the best 8. They even they had JJ and we still won by 50 strokes  :o

So if its tought to beat North Cockalocky :othen it must be IMPOSSIBLE to be Team Michigan :D

You can even ask MTL. He talks alot of smack be he will admit that we handed them thier ACE after all the smack they talked :D

Some key points to ponder. Did MI have the 8 best from MI there according to pdga rating or other ranking system within the state? Was MI much closer to Worlds than NC? How about NC?

Have how many times have you deuced hole 14 at V.a Barrie

There has been two's on this hole before.

There has been a reported but not verified 2 by an intermediate player. It has been 3'd though not often. I've got two of them and both were during tournament play.

Hole is a par 5 so take a birdie here (4) and walk away with $100 each time. 3 ROC shots and a putt. Come to NC and I'll be your financial backer for this challenge. I'll split Polish's money with ya 50/50.

You don't need to throw far on this one, just accurate.

I have only played it about 4 times but i have not taken a 2 on it yet. It a little uphill though and i didnt say i can throw accuratly 500 i just said i can throw 500-550. I have thrown pin high in the short position but right and OB.

I have no clue what place Dobber took in his division for Distance. It should be in DGWN though.

Well NC had JJ and Yahn and MTL and Peckham and Ogburn and Cutt and whoever else came along with them. They were also talking A TON OF SMACK about how they were going to teach US how to play disc golf. They must have been talking about JJ the whole time though because im pretty sure it was US who taught THEM how to play some tournament disc golf at worlds. Just ask MTL about it. He may be a little upset that you brought it up but im sure he will tell you what happend :D

Fact: The Michigan advanced golfers defeated the NC golfers using top 8 scores

Fact: There were more golfers that participated from Michigan that NC

Fact: NC won the overall bet, which included all divisions

Fact: NC had two world champs, compared to Michigans zero

Fact: In the bet, Michigan was able to use players that did not live in Michigan, but did at one point

Fact: NC was not allowed to use Cam Todd or Lesli Herndon in the best

Fact: NC still defeated Michigan despite these past two facts

I always liked playing in and Michigan when I was an advanced golfer..seemed to treat me well :)
But I will always say NC is one of the toughest places to play golf in any division..

We are talking about advanced here. Not all the pros and other divisions.

Our Advanced players laid the SMACK down on you guys. Thats what happend. No if and or buts about it. You guys clearly have better pros then we do. You guys also get more fareweather months of golf out of the year then we do.

Who cares anyway. If NC and MI team up we can take on the rest of the country :D

Not faith in you, just bad blood between he and I. Something about him being upset with me for speaking openly about why our local store doesn't sponsor our best disc golfer, but does sponsor people from all over the state, and his manner of choosing people became public, he contradicted himself, yada, yada. He also still owes me a trophy disc but for whatever reason avoids getting it to me or something.

Honestly, I was going with the impression that the hole was a par 4 for tournament play, and thus would gladly pay you if you get a 3. Sorry for my error Pimp. Offer stands as thus, par 4.

Rick, how about you and I play a round somewhere straight up for $100, then you don't have to split anything, and can have bragging rights. If I beat you, I will even donate the $100 for the ice bowl food bank or raptor center. If I win, I'll even knock off $10 if you get me the trophy disc you owe me for winning one of your events this summer, dropping your payment to $90. I'll drop the additional $10 in there to make it an even $100 for the donation.

Does it take 4 months to get a disc from DiscLanding.com when you order online from them, or is it just DiscLanding.com special treatment for locals who play in their events, and contribute financially to the continuance of their DiscLanding.com store?

I'd say either way would probably be fine. I don't plan on going to MI anytime soon though. My goal for next year is to make AM Nationals, so that may be a good time for the showdown on your home course, or you can get out of hibernation this winter, and come down to NC.

My HOME COURSE??????????/

This course is in once a year for a WEEK. Its just as much your home course as mine. This year i got to play it once before the tournament and that was after i helped INSTALL it by laying down Tee Pads and staking and locking in baskets.

I cant wait untill Am Nationals in 2005. I hope you get a chance to play in it. It is HANDS DOWN the best Am Tournament of the year. The course. The players packs. The competition. The food and water out on the course. The Merch. Everything is PERFECT.

Nov 09 2004, 02:13 PM

the course only goes up a couple days b4 the event then comes out right after. its not really like anyone could even go practice the holes without the baskets cuz the park doesnt mow that area any other time. i tried a couple years ago and it was not a pretty site. needless to say i lost discs on the first hole. that grass gets wickedly tall.

You mean OG Oshnock Grey and Peckham. The NC boyz that stayed at my place for USADGC.

The Tobbagon is a course like you have never seen before. It is my favorite course of ALL TIME and i have played like 60+ courses in like 6 different states. It will test EVERY SINGLE shot in your bag. To really tear it up on this course you have to have Distance Accuracy and a GOOD PUTT!!!!!!!!!!! You cant have ANY part of your game be off if you want to shoot well out here. Hope to see you out here next year. If you dont pre qualify im sure there will be enough spots to come down at try to qualify the week of just like USDGC!!!!!!!! This year there were 40 open spots for week of qualifying.

if its anything like this year dont waste your time and money triing to qualify in any A-tiers, hell you dont even have to play a qualifing round the week of, just shell out the money a day in advance of the tourny and play. its not the really prestigous event that it should be when anyone can get in.

cbdiscpimp
Nov 09 2004, 04:50 PM
Not enough people who qualify know how AWESOME of a course and how SWEET of an event it is. It NEEDS to be promoted and talked about more. I think 2005 will be a bigger turn out.

I will play it every year that i am an Advanced player. That may only be 2 more years though so i cant wait for next year. Hope to see a stronger turn out next year then this year. it was still a great event and Todd White does an AMAZING job as TD. We cant thank him enough for the time and effort he puts into this tournament. If you qualify and you can make it our to MI for this event its a MUST PLAY!!!!!!!

Nov 09 2004, 06:03 PM
Well I tried my 360 turn around with the power grip into a 10mph head wind today and I was suprised at the feeling left in my wrist. It was almost like it was hyper exstending it. The D was the same. I think it is going to take alot of time to smooth out the rough edges. I will continue it another time as the Texas teams tourny is coming up and I dont want to screw up my drive I already have honed in.

Welcome me ********!

Dec 13 2004, 04:52 PM
Thanks, but I need more advice. I am forcing it to much. I need to work on the snap. I am cranking it way to hard to be only getting 400'. I saw a guy finesse it and it just kept going and going. You got any advice on the snap? I have never had the popping sound as it comes outa my hand.

cbdiscpimp
Dec 13 2004, 05:06 PM
Are you still using 3 fingers or did you switch over to the 4 finger??? Its all about using your arm like a WHIP. You dont want to let go of the disc you want it to RIP out of your hand. If you have alot of arm speed and snap its pretty hard to stop yourself from throwing if your have already started the forward motion of your arm. I pretty much hear the disc ripping out of my hand on ever shot i throw for distance with a driver :D

Dec 13 2004, 05:16 PM
I use a 3 finger still. I switched to the 4 finger for a while and then lost the feel for it. Could not stand them up for awhile like that. I deffinately gotta learn to finesse the disk. My shoulder is taking a beating. I just do not have the snap. I guess I am not pinching the disk enough. It does Rip outa my hand but just no sound. I think I could get alot more spin on it if I went another route. Any suggestions?

cbdiscpimp
Dec 13 2004, 05:26 PM
If your shoulder is taking a beating maybe you arent coiling your body enough. My shoulder doesnt really hurt unless i throw too many thumbers. I can throw huge power bombs all day and not have my shoulder hurt. You also have to be real light on your feet so that all your energy is transfered into the disc. I can throw out to about 450 with a slow controled 4 step run up. When i am really bombing for distance like when i was throwing for the distance comp at worlds i have alot bigger faster and more bouncy run up so i can transfer more power into the disc and get that extra 50-100 ft out of my drive since accuracy no longer matters in a distance competition :D I also have a really really big reach back when i throw. Or so i am told.

Dec 13 2004, 05:30 PM
What style do you most resemble when you drive? (whos style)

Do you release hyzer and stand them up or do you do the big Helix.

cbdiscpimp
Dec 13 2004, 05:38 PM
For big D i release pretty flat maybe a little bit hyzer and let it flip over and ride out a HUGE turn and then S back at the very end. When i am just playing. People have told me i look like Kenny when i throw. I only wish my end results were like his

So if a disc slams chains in the middle of the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
