What is Lake Lewisville like this time of year? I have always wanted to play the course. I live in burleson so its a bit of a drive. But this Saturday it's on.

Is the mini still at 2:00 on Saturday.

reddman
Oct 26 2004, 09:52 PM
Singles are at 2:00 and draw doubles right afterwards. After the time change, the singles start at 1:00. Leaves are starting to fall making it a little tricky to find your disc in the middle of the fairway. Be careful throwing those fly-dyed discs. :)

what is the deal with the bag tag challenges that were rumored to be happening on sundays? i forgot the details. is there money involved, or just tags?

reddman
Oct 27 2004, 08:16 AM
The tag challenge happens when enough people show up on Sundays @ 3:00. They put $1 in the pot and play $.25 skins on each card. Usually, they will payout the pot to 1st and 2nd place overall. No big money, more for bragging rights with the tags. The last two times I went to play, nobody else was there. :(

That is awsome! hey its raining all week. Is it a mess after it rains. It does not matter really I will be there rain or shine. If anyone wants to play before the tournament I am planning on showing up early saturday about ten or eleven. I always have more fun playing against people. Anyways thanks for the info!

Oct 27 2004, 12:08 PM
It is the best course in DFW to play after it rains. The sands sux up the water. Great course any way you look at it.

Hey you can drink beer out there?

bcoxxx
Oct 27 2004, 12:21 PM
"Hey you can drink beer out there? "

another reason it's one of the greatest courses. alcohol is 100% legal, as long as you are not drinking within 15' or so of the road and there are no glass containers allowed. both of these stipulations are frequently ignored, but the main thing is bring cans, not bottles, and if you must drink bottled beer, pour it into a cup and leave the bottles in the trash or car. broken glass and beaches don't mix very well.

Oct 27 2004, 12:37 PM
Lake Lewisville is one of the best courses in area for all of the reasons listed above. Thanks should go to the City of Lewisville, Tom McCutchen (old man), the other local players and the local Boy Scouts out there. Like you, it is too long of a drive to play as often as I would like, but it is well worth the drive. It is clean, well maintained, challenging, but not frustratingly difficult.

Big E
Oct 27 2004, 01:33 PM
It's good to hear that its worth the drive. I am excited about coming out there and maybe playing the tourney Saturday. Maybe some of the locals will be up for a game before the tournement. I would like to know my way around the course.

it's fairly easy to follow the course. there should be more than enough other people out there playing (unless the weather is crappy) so that you can play with someone or at least follow a group around.

my unemployed *** finally found a job and i start monday, so i'll probably be out there saturday celebrating and playing in the mini.

garywatts
Oct 27 2004, 01:56 PM
after that round we usually go to LL to play around, but it is nothing like the lake course, if the rain continues then we will stay at the lake, LL is not the best to play after all this rain. see ya Sat.

Hey, should I take 35W up to 121 to 35E or should I take 35W to 20E to 35E? Which way is the fastest? I am not from area and I have never been up that way, so "any help" will help!

i am not sure on that one, either way that early on Saturday morning should not be bad, you will need to take the Valley ridge exit due to the 407/Justin exit being closed.
where are you coming in from??

Thanks all for the help. I was planning on taking that route staying on 121 all the way to 35E. Hey the park is dog friendly? He's my golf partner, rowdy is fox terrier and rat terrier mix. He is cool does his own thing! Anyways I will see you all on Saturday. Hey are there any good pictures of LAKE LEWISVILLE on the WEB? Later

lauranovice
Oct 28 2004, 10:27 AM
The couse is very dog friendly, especially if you have a good dog. The holes are close enough and the park usually has enough golfers to where Rowdy would need to stick close to you, not wonder off onto other fairways, so he does not get in the way of other golfers. If he golfs with you regularly, he should be okay. Oh, and there seems to be a bunch of sand burr stickers on hole 17. We had to stop several times on that hole to remove them from paws, but only on that hole. I am assuming, by the breed you stated Rowdy is, that he is not an avid swimmer. One of the main reasons we take Carly is because she loves to swim and there are about four holes near the lake.

Big E
Oct 28 2004, 10:48 AM
You are correct, Rowdy is not a avid swimmer. But he loves to play in knee hi water. He is some what of a spaz! he does wounder to the next tee pad some times (he likes to be in the lead) but being a new park he should stay nearby. He has to much going on in his little head to worry about some " sand burrs" LOL! He should be just fine. I always have a leash for back up in the golf bag! Thanks for the info.

Oct 28 2004, 12:11 PM
Beware of the dog catchers. They have been known to come out there and give tickets for dogs not on a leash. I was playing with a guy who would let his dog run as he threw his discs; the dog was extremely well trained and would stay in one spot forever. He didn't get a ticket, but he was talked to for about 10 minutes. Good thing the dog stayed in one spot the whole time.

Im still a new player, but I love this sport. I live in Lewisville and managed to get in about 6 holes last night after work but the time change is going to limit me to playing weekends. If someone wants to meet up and play around here, let me know. I started playing about a month ago and so far Ive played Bear Creek in Grapevine (First time out).Veterans Park in South Arlington (ton of fun.very long and very challenging) and Z Boaz Park in Ft Worth. (more control and finesse/Less power than Veterans and my personal favorite so far ) Ive only played the first 6 holes at Lake Lewisville though, but Im hoping it becomes my favorite since it will be my home course.

Anyone that wants to meet up and play or suggest other courses in the area, please feel free to chime in. Also, Im not sure Im tournament material just yet..so when is a good time to play Lake Lewisville on the weekends so that I dont interfere with the good guys?

Thanks in advance

I live in Burleson and play at Bicentennial Disc Golf Course. Awesome course! I also play at Bear Creek and Veteran's Park and Z Boaz Park, I like all of these a lot as well. But as far as other Dallas courses I like B. B. Owen Park and Audobon Park. I also like Greenbelt Park. I think everyone of these parks have there own thing I like about them. I have to say that I like Lake Lewisville Park because of the amount of people playing and there is a diffrent attitude at this park, everyone was really hospitable my first time there and I felt like I was welcome to play there. Anyways have fun playing.

Sounds like fun, I may bring my buddy with me. He's an Aussie too, from Canberra I believe, but is now living in Lewisville. I've been trying to get him out to play. My coworker, Jarid, has played for about 10 years and he's the one the turned me on too the sport and I'm trying to get more friends involved. Not only so I have people to play with me, but to help further the sport.

Thanks again for the invite

I have given up on trying to get my buddy's to come with me! I just find new buddy sthat already play the game! Maybe its just me but my buddy are not addicted to the game like I am! But good luck just the same.

Nov 03 2004, 03:04 PM
That is probably what Ill end up doing. I was by myself at Lewisville the other night and was asked if I wanted to play through but I didnt just so I could follow them through and get a feel for the course, being my first time out there. Most of the players I have met are fairly personable and easy to get along with so Ill probably just have to generate a new buddy list for DG outings.

see ya around

Any of you local Lewisville guys know Charles Remsburg?

If not, I need to know how to contact someone, if I have their PDGA#. Is there a member directory where members can elect to have their contact info published?
Sorry if this seems silly, my PDGA member packet doesnt ship until Friday so if this is answered in the packet, I apologize. Im trying to return a lost disc and Im new to the scene. Only been playing a few months.

Thanks in advance

Here is the link to his info on this page info (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/playerstats.php?PDGANum=24485) . Not much there though. Your best bet would be to ask the "old man", Tom.M . He pretty much knows everyone and loves to see people get their discs back.

I'm still pretty new and nonone really knows me out there, although being my home course I play it 3-4 times a week atleast. I keep seeing mention of "Old Man" in this and other threads, but I am clueless who that might be.
